This is our fourth visit to the Lodore Falls and yet again we've been impressed by the warmth, efficiency & politeness of the staff. Yes the location, rooms & food (oh, the seared scallop starter!!!) are all great, but it's the staff that make this lovely place outstanding! Always polite, watching out for each other in the most supportive way,...

I visited here for a large family birthday celebration with my partner and a couple of our children. People getting married and other celebrations going on in the lakeside surroundings, rabbits on the lawns and a friendly welcome. The food here is superb and the staff are formal but friendly , one went out of his way to cover my...

We stayed here for one night in July 2015. We had a room which was supposed to be a fleeced room but in actual fact we could see the lake and the fells from the window, albeit a sideways view. The room was a good size and very clean with an enormous bed. The only slight criticism would be that...

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in early July. Hotel was quite impressive and has lots of character. The food and service was of a high standard and was well worth the cost. The weather unfortunately was pretty poor - typical British summer! It did not spoil our enjoyment of the Hotel which I would happily recommend to...

Central Lakes location, lovely setting, own waterfall, dinner bed and breakfast, excellent amenities including swimming pool - what more could you ask for? Well, having read some of the reviews, we were a little concerned about what to expect but I have to say that this is amongst the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Check in was good...

Lovely room, great food and courteous staff. Although the weather was not good, we were still able to enjoy the lovely view over Derwent Water whilst eating in the spacious dining room. The hotel was fully-booked but it did not feel crowded. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

When I was a teenager camping in Borrowdale, I always dreamed of staying here. Now I can afford to, it hasn't disappointed. Went on a good value mid-week break, four nights for the price of three. Wonderful location, handy for good walking in the area, friendly and helpful staff. Couple of downsides - the rooms need air conditioning. In the...

A Christmas present from friends who joined us for a lovely stay over - complete with our dogs! Imposing looking hotel of dark grey slate with center turret. We were lucky when we visited that it was a lovely hot day so we could make the most of the outdoor pool terrace and hot tub. The room was very nice - with a fabulous view of the lake (however air con or a fan was needed as it was ridiculously hot) Breakfast was perfect - lots of choice!...

We stayed mid-week for two days in a recently refurbished lake view room with balcony overlooking the fantastic panorama of Cat Bells and Derwentwater. The room and furnishings were superb and the staff very enthusiastic and welcoming, however more attention to detail is required if the hotel aspires to 5 star status. It is not acceptable to have to send...

The ground floor of the hotel will be completely renovated at the start of 2017 and will be completed by mid-February 2017. From the start of our renovations in January 2017 our leisure club and beauty salon will remain closed until Summer 2018, when we reveal our brand new luxury spa and a brasserie restaurant with an outdoor terrace, as well as 18 new exclusive bedroom suites.
