Arrived at Alston House on Friday evening, very warm welcome from the host. The room was enormous and well equipped e.g. teas, coffees, kettle, toiletries, hair dryer etc. Unfortunately, it was very wet and windy outside and the rain was coming in through one of the windows in our room, but there was nothing much that could be done apart...

We stayed with two of our small dogs for a couple of nights. The hotel itself is really nice and we had a spacious and spotlessly clean room, which had a view over the other side of the valley. We ate in on one night and I thought the menu was really nice and reasonably priced too. The food was...

Paid £119 for two nights two people and a dog including breakfast. Wowcher was £89, dog £20 and £10 surcharge which we weren't aware of at the time but was fine and well worth the money. Do eat at the restaurant. Lovely home made food and big portions. Good value for money. Beautiful village for walking. Lots of information provided...

Good choice with a specials board. Good selection of wine. Breakfast was really good. Plenty of fresh fruit and a hearty fry up. Very...

We had an overnight stay here with a Groupon voucher. Really nice place to stay and eat. Warm welcome on arrival and shown to a very nice comfy and clean room. Even had shutters so was nice and dark for sleeping. We ate in the restaurant on the evening and the food was lovely. Good sized portions and very tasty....

Groupon weekend here last weekend. Lots to like about the Alston House hotel but there were a few negative aspects. Plusses - Pleasant and attentive staff with great service and reasonable prices in the café. Great setting with the magnificent scenery surrounding the village but dreadful weather precluded too much exploring. Negatives - Bathroom in room 1 was cold unless...

My partner spent the past weekend here after a hectic few weeks. Alston is a very quiet location that may not appeal to everyone but it was what we needed. The hotel was small and well run. The staff were always ready to help and most importantly weren't 'in your face' and allowed us to simply chill in the cafe...
