On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and the food was ok, but we were amazed that other reviews had been so good, which is why we booked. They may have been understaffed, as we had to wait a while to be served in the bar for our evening meal. Our room wasn't very comfortable or clean, the...

Arrived 2 hours late due to poor weather and was greeted with 'the chef has left so we can't offer any food' ! Not even a slice of toast. The room was freezing cold and very small. The next morning we had breakfast which was nice. The overall impression was that the place looks lovely, but is dated on the...

An overnight stay en-route from the Lakes to the Hadrian's Wall area . A warm welcome at reception and a quick check-in . We booked a four-poster bed room it was a good size with a small en-suite. The décor in the en-suite could do with a spruce up . Where this hotel scores is the atmosphere, the bar with...

Just had to write a review to say what a gem this place is. Very dog friendly despite having the noisiest dog in the world!! The attached pub welcomes dogs and in the hotel there is a separate lounge area for dog owners where they will also serve breakfast if required. The pub grub was really good although the menu...

She was very friendly and polite. She showed us to our room and told us where the bar area was. The room itself was dated...

This is one of our favourite hotels for its peace and tranquility. It is located in lovely countryside will fabulous views and walks. The staff are excellent, they are always friendly and helpful. The room was clean.warm and comfortable but the bathroom grouting needed some attention. This did not spoil our experience of this lovely 18th century property. Good value...

We enjoyed a really relaxing break and booked a Saturday Night for the Family room. The decor is authentic country hall style. Our meals were good value and we managed a really peaceful nights sleep in comfy beds. The staff are a mix of local and hard working euros so you can be assured of polite helpfull assistance in all...

Which was excellent. Goats cheese souffle, then steak and trimmings. Followed by lemon tart. All well cooked and served. Later we will be in...
