Very recently we visited here for afternoon tea. Great location but please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Substandard on all aspects. For £15pp you do not expect shop bought cakes. We ordered coffee with our lunch but had to wait for 40 minutes for it to appear, despite asking on several occasions. We heard three separate complaints made within the...

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to read that you did not enjoy your afternoon tea experience. I would like to assure you that our cakes are not shop bought. We have a separate pastry kitchen, who produce all afternoon tea products. We do pay great attention to detail in terms of presentation, which is perhaps why they...

Our experience was quite a good one. We went for a quick overnight break, having a meal in 1851 restaurant and then drinks in the bar. The meal was to our liking, but I would have thought it even better if there was more choices. In saying that even though we went with the set menu which had three choices...

Thank you for your extensive review. My apologies that you found the drive to be blocked by cones, but I'm glad that my reception team came to your aid and parked the car for you. All of our bedding is feather, which is perhaps why you found it rather warm, but non feather items are available upon request. Thank you...

I only stayed here having been bought a package here as a gift, otherwise I wouldn't have dreamt of coming back. Our first stay here in 2011 was so horrendous and things haven't improved. The food in the restaurant was great but the service was poor. We had various problems with our room which were immediately reported to the staff...

Thank you for your feedback. As you stayed back in March and have only just reviewed, I cannot investigate your comments but offer my apologies that you did not enjoy your return visit.

My partner and I went for a 1 night stay at the Castle and dined in the 2010 Brasserie. The food in the Brasserie was absolutely delicious and could not have been better. The staff were all very helpful and the room was immaculate, with a very nice bathroom. My only criticisms would be that the food took maybe a...

We had a room on floor 6 which was located inside one of the turrets. Gorgeous room. Breakfast was lovely, but the check out process is very slow. Stayed here for a friends wedding. Wouldn't stay here by choice as I do think the rooms are overpriced. You pay for the setting and the fact that you're in a castle.

We stayed here for one night with a group of friends. Our room was very spacious and clean. My bed was too soft but that's my personal opinion and others in our group found the beds comfortable. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. If you have mobility issues this is not the hotel...

Having travelled from Preston Lancashire last Saturday, anticipating the delights awaiting me - namely afternoon tea at Peckforton Castle, to say that I was deflated, disappointed, and brought back down to earth with a bang, was an understatement. Myself and a girlfriend, who don't get the chance to get together very often, yet definitely appreciate the finer things life has...

Thank you for your feedback, I do hope that you don't find my response to be repetitive. Afternoon tea is an area of our business that has been developing over the past 18 months, from when we first introduced this offering. Following your feedback we have changed the way in which our scones are produced, which I believe will result...

There's a real wow factor on arriving at this imposing Victorian 'fake' medieval castle. Went for a 50th birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were other events happening at the same time and was some noise from them, but we couldn't hear it when in our function room. Lots of positives - food was really rather good for this...

Wow what a lovely venue for a wedding. But it helps to be young and fit to stay here for any amount of time, so many stairs. Everywhere is clean and tidy although some of the carpets could do with a good clean; I refer to the carpets in the hexagonal room. Room looked lovely with all the tables set...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Peckforton Castle - An enchanting Hotel in the heart of Cheshire. Rising majestically above the Cheshire landscape, the castle is both enigmatic and enchanting. Originally the home of Lord Tollemache and built in the early 19th Century, this Grade I listed building is the only intact medieval style Castle in the country. Over the years the castle has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood and Dr Who. Now owned by the Naylor family, the stunning exterior has been complemented by a loving and considered restoration programme resulting in a magnificent hotel and venue offering contemporary luxury and impeccable service. Services include 48 stunning individual guest rooms, conference, events, and wedding facilities for up to 180. Tranquility beauty, on site Falconry and team activities all adding up to a rather magical experience. Dining at the Castle truly is a special occasion, welcoming the public as well as hotel guests. The 1851 Restaurant offers a dining experience fit for royalty. Holder of 3 AA Rosettes and a Taste Cheshire Award. Alternatively the more informal and cosmopolitan 2010 Brasserie, located in the former scullery of the castle, features many of the amazing features of the original scullery including two cast iron cooking ranges dating back to the 1840's. Peckforton Castle's enchanting medieval style beauty and stunning location make it a truly impressive and desirable venue for weddings, christenings, birthday parties, or just about anything that's worth celebrating. Everything plays a part; the fabulous setting, stunning location, the attentive service and smiling faces, the bespoke menus and decorations. A magnificent venue for conferencing and meetings. Within the medieval walls, old and new combine seamlessly to offer state of the art multi media and conference facilities. Captivating on arrival, Peckforton Castle's unspoilt, natural beauty will stimulate and motivate, delight the eye, inspire the mind, tantalise the taste buds and leave you enchanted. ... more   less
