Welcome to Peckforton Castle - An enchanting Hotel in the heart of Cheshire. Rising majestically above the Cheshire landscape, the castle is both enigmatic and enchanting. Originally the home of Lord Tollemache and built in the early 19th Century, this Grade I listed building is the only intact medieval style Castle in the country. Over the years the castle has been the location for numerous movies including Robin Hood and Dr Who. Now owned by the Naylor family, the stunning exterior has been complemented by a loving and considered restoration programme resulting in a magnificent hotel and venue offering contemporary luxury and impeccable service. Services include 48 stunning individual guest rooms, conference, events, and wedding facilities for up to 165. Dining at the Castle truly is a special occasion, welcoming the public as well as hotel guests. The 1851 Restaurant offers a dining experience fit for royalty. Holder of 3 AA Rosettes and a Taste Cheshire Award. Alternatively the more informal and cosmopolitan 2010 Brasserie, located in the former scullery of the castle, features many of the amazing features of the original scullery including two cast iron cooking ranges dating back to the 1840's. Peckforton Castle's enchanting medieval style beauty and stunning location make it a truly impressive and desirable venue for weddings, christenings, birthday parties, or just about anything that's worth celebrating. Everything plays a part; the fabulous setting, stunning location, the attentive service and smiling faces, the bespoke menus and decorations. A magnificent venue for conferencing and meetings. Within the medieval walls, old and new combine seamlessly to offer state-of-the-art multi-media and conference facilities. Captivating on arrival, Peckforton Castle's unspoilt, natural beauty will stimulate and motivate, delight the eye, inspire the mind, tantalise the taste buds and leave you enchanted.

Nestled in a picturesque setting ideal for scenic walks, Peckforton Castle Hotel captivates guests with its stunning views upon arrival. The service quality is a point of contention, with some guests praising the friendly staff and others frustrated by slow responses. While the castle's ambiance and amenities enchant, the value is undermined by pricey dining options and additional charges.
Room conditions garner criticism for being dated and sometimes poorly maintained, with noise being a disruptive factor for some visitors. Despite these issues, many find the rooms clean and appreciate the historic charm of the hotel.

Just got back today from a weekend away with my wife at Peckforton Castle and I'm gutted to say it fell flat. We were wowed by the location and on first arriving it looks truly idyllic. Entrance and hall ways are very harry Potter, and the stairs all add to the fun. However the moment we opened the door to our room I couldn't believe I was in a 4 star hotel. We have been very fortunate to have stayed in a number of premium venues but I felt I've stayed in better travel lodges than this room. Bed very small, ensuite falling apart and shower door would not shut(see pics) the curtains were drapes so fixed and would not close fully due to the style. I would say a highlight was the wine cellar bar, beautiful layout and very friendly bar lady who had just started a week ago. Dinner was at 8, I was looking forward to this as we are very much both foodies, I was very surprised that we were not given a proper bread roll or type, only an amuse Buche a small cube of bread with a portion of butter much larger that the bread itself and then for some reason another type of butter.. not enough bread to use it on. It was very tasty though. Then starters of pork cheek, looked great and tasted amazing, took along time to come, then there was an even longer gap for our mains, again was A very skillfully made dish which we both enjoyed. Yet again we waited for deserts, each time the waiting staff came it was with an apology for the delay we were both falling asleep. Desert was the low point, both falling very flat, the chocolate mouse was lacking flavor and the textures on my parfait did not work for me, the crumb destroyed what would of been a lovely dish. This is when the waiting staff seemed to disappear, no offer of coffee etc no one came back to get our plates even after sitting for what felt like an eternity. So at nearly the 2hours 45 min mark we decided to get up and leave as did another couple. We did see someone at the entrance and we signed for the bill, no asking if everything was ok. Breakfast was equally as flat and certainly not memorable. Seemed like a real lack of choice compared to other Halls and hotels we have stayed at. If I had paid for this (it was a £300 gift) I would of been very upset. If your looking for the wow factor across all elements then this is not the place. It has huge potential but could definitely do with looking at how the Hand picked hotel group do things.

This was a great place to stay for a short break. There was a quiet and restful atmosphere despite a wedding taking place at the time. The room was good, decorated in a classic style as befits a castle. (cupboard housing the tea tray needed french polishing, possibly with glass over it to prevent wet cups etc spoiling it!). All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and the evening meal in the main room was excellent, as was the wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return in the future.

Few breaks match the joy of a castle stay and Peckforton Castle provides this in style. A winter deal is on offer and we chose to upgrade the basic package for our room and dining options and both choices shone. The approach to the castle is designed to create anticipation and the gatehouse entrance reveals the castellated building in its glory. Our first floor room was large and the sizeable garderobe/en suite was entered via a gothic sandstone arch and provided a free standing bath and separate large shower. After a post check in chill, we went down to the remarkable bar for pre dinner drinks before ascending to the 1810 restaurant for a splendid dinner that excelled. The courses are served at a pedestrian pace but each choice was delicious, well presented and worth waiting for. The wine list is reasonable and well chosen and even at the upper end the price tag mark up seemed fair. A good night’s sleep led to self service breakfast at the first floor restaurant where once again each item was cooked just right.

We stayed overnight over Christmas. Unfortunately the lovely setting is spoiled by terrible service as has been noted by a number of reviews.
We were looking for an early check in as we were attending an event however were informed on arriving that this was not possible. We were not the only people within the group to experience this in spite of being informed that this would not be the issue by those organising the day. We were told that the room would not be ready until after 3pm and we would need to change in a small changing room. When asking to speak to a manager to see if there was any chance of a solution we were greeted by a duty manager who was very unaccommodating. On being guided to the changing room it was being used by a member of staff. Thankfully on waiting for the room another member of staff showed the insight to give us use of a room that was in the processes of being cleaned. It was shocking that the manager had not thought of such a solution. On having gotten changed in the room we went to front desk to ask to store our luggage prior to checking in and were informed that our room was now ready. This was around 15 minutes after we arrived and almost two hours earlier than had been predicted. If this had been properly fed back we would have waited and not needed to have rushed to get changed in a dirty room.
It was hoped that this would have been the sole negative experience but on checking out the receptionist informed us that there was a £54 bill on our room. We informed her that we hadn’t charged anything to the room save for one coffee. The receptionist merely said that was what was owing. We then questioned what was the charge to which she confirmed that it was for a bottle of wine that we never ordered. I asked if she could check the signatures rather than demand we pay for something we had not used. Only at this point did she bother to look into whether the signatures matched those on file. Even then she had to call her manager to have authorise to not charge us for something we had never spent.
There is much need for the staff to have better skills in hospitality to meet the potential that the venue would have to offer. This is the second experience of the venue and unfortunately we have had negative experiences on both occasions based on basic errors in customer service.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to review us, albeit, a disappointing read. In any hotel, it is normal to have check in/check out times and whilst we always aim to exceed, we never guarantee this. As stated, at Peckforton, we do have a small changing room which can be used on a first come first served basis. I am unaware of staff that may use this as they have staff facilities, but given you was attending a wedding, I can only assume this may have been a wedding supplier, often a toast master, who would not have access to the back of house areas. It’s very unusual for a member of the team to offer access to a part clean room, as you can imagine, this would cause a delay in servicing rooms in which would only disappoint another guest further down the line. I sincerely apologise that one of my colleagues posted a bill in error to your room. I am delighted that the team member was able to cross check this in your presence and contact a manager who is authorised to remove items from the bill. All in all, I feel a 1 star review to be a little harsh given everything else with your stay going well, but I do appreciate that everyone is entitled to their right to express their views. I do hope you are able to visit the castle again and I would be more than happy to oversee any future visit, please just ask for myself when booking. Kindest Regards Steve

Overpriced, we stayed for a wedding. Wedding itself was lovely however we were not very impressed to be told we couldn’t have breakfast until 10:15 the next day- 15 minutes before check out time. We asked if we could be refunded for breakfast as ideally wanted to leave before 10 and the answer was no. Next morning someone was hoovering outside the door at 8am - perhaps not unreasonably early but then given I couldn’t have any breakfast till gone 10 I was aiming to sleep in a bit longer. When we got to breakfast there was nothing left on the buffet. A fair few of the hot options have extra charges associated although a normal full English is available along with poached eggs or porridge. Very average in quality. Unable to have a juice and hot drink without paying an extra charge. I have had much better stays at much cheaper hotels. Unfortunately I think this hotel realises when it hosts weddings people are likely to pay to stay to save arranging transport to alternative hotels and rely on this to get the bookings as opposed to good service. I would advise if you are a guest at a function consider alternative accommodation.

We’ve just come back from a well needed date night from Peckforton Castle and we were so disappointed. We used a Red Letter Days voucher (£205) for the bed & breakfast option..
At first, our room was tiny(nothing like the photos on Red Letter Days website) & freezing and the heater that we found in the wardrobe didn’t have a cord long enough to reach any of the plugs. There was only 1 bath towel so I tried calling reception several times but nobody answered. Our room was quite a walk away from reception and quite frankly, I just couldn’t be bothered going up and down the stairs to go and get more. There wasn’t enough coffee supplies for one person, let alone two. Tried ringing again for more but no answer. We’d hoped to get some kind of bar food/snacks from room service- we’d been told at reception that room service was available but couldn’t find a menu or get through to reception.
There must’ve been a wedding on as the hallways were quite noisy which I understand isn’t the hotel’s fault but it was ongoing until all hours.
Breakfast was included and was ok but we had to pay a £5 surcharge pp to have the meals that we wanted?! £5 extra to have 2 poached eggs on 1 piece of toast with avocado?!
The good bits- The lady who checked us in was lovely & very friendly. ( we checked in at about 8pm) The shower was fab- really powerful.
It was disappointing as we just wanted a quiet night away & that wasn’t the case🥺

My family and I stayed at Peckforton Castle for my sister's wedding, spending close to £500 for two nights, expecting a luxurious experience. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by numerous issues that are unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber.
Firstly, the room provided for two adults and two children was grossly inadequate. Our kids had to sleep on camp beds that were so uncomfortable I wouldn't even let my dog sleep on them. The bathroom was in a state of disrepair with mould up the walls and in the shower—hardly fitting for a bridal party room.
Our daughter suffered a burn on her foot from the bathroom floor, not due to underfloor heating, but because of an excessively hot pipe beneath the floor. Her foot remained red and sore for days. Management requested pictures of the mould which is frankly unnecessary as the mould was plainly visible; anyone could inspect the room and see the problem.
During the wedding, my husband was served a drink at the bar and as the glass was handed to him it exploded in his hand, causing cuts and ruining his hired suit & shirt with blood. Despite this, management's response was slow and unhelpful, and we had to request first aid ourselves. The bar staff in the cellar that evening were notably rude and made us feel unwelcome.
Breakfast service was another disappointment. Despite being a family of four with a friend joining us, we were seated separately instead of clearing several available tables. The service was so slow that my husband had to leave before eating, as it was nearing checkout time.
We contacted the hotel after our stay to express our concerns. The response was inadequate and management has since ignored our emails. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I find this level of disregard shocking. Both my husband and daughter are in remission for cancer, making the mould in our room particularly concerning for their health, as well as for any other guests that are unfortunate enough to stay in that room.
Given the substantial revenue generated from weddings alone, Peckforton Castle should ensure their accommodations are in top condition. Either improve the quality of your rooms or adjust your prices to reflect their current state of disrepair. This experience was unacceptable and not what we expected from a hotel of this reputation.

We stayed at Peckforton castle to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Check in was quick and the receptionist gave us all the information we needed regarding our stay. The room was amazing we stayed in the Beeston which has a huge 4 poster bed and views of beeston castle the room was absolutely spotless and very quiet. We had drinks in the wine cellar WOW what a venue and George was chatty and very professional. We had dinner in the brasserie which is reasonably priced and the food was very good. Breakfast was served in the 1851 dining room we were seated very quickly and the breakfast is a buffet which is plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again Well done Peckforton Castle.

Brilliant venue for a Wedding. We have just returned from a 2 night stay for sons wedding and it was amazing. We chose the executive room which was perfect for our needs , the bed was really comfortable so we had good sleep, room was spotless with dressing gowns and slippers, tea and coffee also bottled water. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, always on hand if needed. The Hotel itself is so impressive. It’s perfect for photographs . Thank you to all at Peckforton for making my Son and now Daughter in Laws wedding a dream come true xxxx

I booked The Lodge at Peckforton Castle for myself and family to attend a wedding. It was by no means an inexpensive option but I am sorry to say that it was far from luxurious. It is a good 20 minute walk through woodland to the Castle so a wedding party would require transport - ours (as part of the wedding package) didn't arrive. The Lodge is rather 'tired', carpets stained, dirty windows, and we quickly discovered that the shower in the main bathroom leaked straight into the downstairs sitting room (and had done for some time), requiring a bucket under the ceiling for the duration of our stay. Apart from the four-poster room, the bedrooms are very small without adequate storage for clothes, very few hangers and no hooks on doors. The four-poster room had an ensuite but the other four bedrooms (7 people) shared a bathroom - challenging! - and hot water was only tepid for the last person. If you do stay here, take your own mugs - the tea cups are dinky. The 'self-catering breakfast hamper' is some milk and cereals - so take all the supplies you will need as it is miles to the nearest shop. Very disappointed. Definitely not a good option for a group attending a function at the castle.
