The Crown in Old Amersham, situated at the end of the Metropolitan Line and 40 minutes from London, is the second in a family of modern day coaching inns recently renovated by the designer Ilse Crawford (other works include Babington House). The old timber building is situated in the centre of the historic market town, attracting locals, restaurant guests and night time travelers. The inn’s interior is made up of rural materials – from Ercol chairs made in High Wycombe to traditional plaster made from lime and horsehair. The ‘back room’ with its inglenook fire and view of the cobbled courtyard is perfect for private gatherings and feasting of up to 40, while the bar and restaurant area is the communal heartbeat of the inn. The kitchen serves seasonally inspired, locally sourced food with in-between times satisfied with home baked cheese scones and fruit cake with Cashel Blue while the main menus changes daily.

Just returned from a stay at the Crown in Old Amersham. Wanted a hotel near to Watford as visiting Harry Potter Studios. Location excellent and a lovely town with nice pubs and restaurants. The hotel was nice and welcoming and the staff were fine apart from the barman who didnt k

I stayed here for 1 night, it was cosy and I slept soundly. The shower is brilliant as is the eggs benedict I had for breakfast. Parking was difficult to find and is poorly sign posted. Staff well mannered and friendly as to be expected.

Very pleasant stay in the Crown following my work's Christmas dinner bash in Chesham. Hotel stylish yet with an old world feel. Enjoyed a band, complimentary wine and a very comfy bed on our late return and then an excellent breakfast (vegetarian options highly recommended) after

Enjoyed my time in the beautiful old town. The staff were professional, but didn't feel too friendly though. The room was charming and spacious, but there is a fair bit of noise around the courtyard suite on the corner (105), this interrupted any sleep-ins I would have liked and

Friendly welcoming staff. Nicely decorated and very pleasant for one night away. One negative is the poor acoustics. You can hear every creak of the nearby stairs and the timber floors from room above and adjacent.

Have you got disabled adapted rooms preferably on ground floor or is there a lift?
This is a very historic building so I imagine installing disability access to the first floor rooms in the main hotel might have implications. However the accommodation in the annexes are excellent. Worth a visit!

Do you have a hoist available?
Are there irons, mini fridge or microwaves? Can we purchase tour tickets for London at your Inn?
Cathy, I am one of the owners. We can put an iron and board in the room and also a small fridge (we have a few spare for long stay guests). We even have one spare domestic microwave, though obviously we hope you will let us cater for you! I would suggest one of our larger rooms so that you have space for all this. Do contact me or Yasmin Russel our reception manager via the e-mail on the website. Please let me know if you need further information.
