It is difficult to write a review for this gem because once I find a hidden treasure I like to keep it to myself. I think it only fair to the owners Dom and Sarah to do so because I was so impressed with Casa de Suenos. Before my arrival Sarah was extremely helpful answering detailed questions and providing information...

It was the best place to shut my mind down completely. Wake up, grab a cup of coffee, walk the beach. Come back and have breakfast. No TV! Love that. Of course, internet if you needed a fix. The grocer was a Mexican driving down the street every day. He would beep in front of the house... It doesn't get...

My wife and I stayed in one of the downstairs apartments for a week this February. The place was great. Everything was very clean, safe, and inviting. You can walk out the door and be snorkeling 50 feet away. Dom and Sarah are great people and they make sure you feel at home. They have lots of great advice for...

We stayed for a week in the Laguna apartment which is just behind the sea front apartments. Although we had no sea view we had just about everything else we could have wished for. The well kept grounds and beach were only 20 paces away, and our apartment provided unlimited very hot water at any hour, an efficient gas hob...

We spent three great nights here right before Christmas. Friendly and helpful hosts. Attractive, clean room with comfortable bed and hammock. Amazing snorkeling right out the front door. Spacious shared kitchen with individual full-sized fridge. Great vistas (sunsets!) and birdwatching from rooftop. We loved it and recommend this place to those looking for a quiet getaway.

Three of us stayed in the upstairs two-bedroom apartment at Casa de Sueños in Xcalak. It was fantastic. This part of the Mayan Coast is Mexico as you dream it could be: beautiful water, vibrant forest, small town, friendly people. Casa de Sueños allows you to relax and enjoy the simplicity of cooking your own food, sitting on the beach...

We stayed two nights, and wished it could have been for a lifetime. Quiet, accomodating hosts, and the beds are positioned to look right out at the Caribbean Sea through the large sliding glass door. What more could one ask? We enjoyed a delivered lobster dinner for two, and our two small dogs loved the freedom of running on the...

The great Mesoamerican reef that draws divers and fishermen to Ambergris Cay in Belize, runs right in front of Casa de Suenos and all along this stretch of the Caribbean Yucutan (Q Roo). Great snorkeling here, healthy, protected reef. I've stayed at Casa de Suenos for years and love the place; peaceful, comfortable, pretty, very generous owners Dom and Sarah....

We had a wonderful time. The house is away from any urban noise. The second floor apartment is spacious and has all the commodities and also offers a grand view of the ocean. From the roof garden you can see incredible sunsets. The owners, Dominic and Sarah, welcomed us as if we were family. We ate fresh fish and sea...

After having spent 5 nights at Casa de Suenos, we will be very hard pressed to find another place that is as relaxing and beautiful and amazing. It was probably the best vacation we've ever had, and we'd love to come back soon! The house is about 9 km from the village of Xcalak, a sleepy fishermen village off the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa de Suenos, an off the beaten path eco-friendly resort. Xcalak is off the beaten path, and the nature of the location and lack of creature comforts like air conditioning and TVs is not for everyone. However, if you enjoy a tropical beach setting, with untouched and unspoiled surroundings, and very little tourist traffic, then this is the place for you. Spend your days doing nothing at all, playing beach games, reading a book, walking and beachcombing the miles of uncrowded beachfront. Kick back with a refreshing cocktail, sit by the fire at night, listen to your favorite music, relax. There is a small disco and a few bars in town and along the strip should you wish some sort of nightlife, or never leave Casa de Suenos once you arrive, and want for nothing! ... more   less

“There are three rentals possible at Casa de Sueños: (1) a two-bedroom apartment upstairs; (2) a one-bedroom apartment downstairs; and (3) an apartment across the small road. The third of these has no beach view. Check out the web site for the house -- it should be clear there!”
