My husband and I loved every minute of our 5-day stay at Unico 2087. The resort was recommended to us by TripGuy Travel as we were looking for an all-inclusive, adults only hotel that was luxurious yet hip and relaxed. Mitch and his team hit the nail on the head - Unico is all of the above. THE HITS: The resort is just beautiful. The grounds are lush, the decor is impeccable, everything feels so stylish and cool. The pools are gorgeous and fun, especially on pool party days. The restaurants all feel like actual standalone restaurants, not all-inclusive restaurants if that makes sense. The rooms are a great size with nice amenities. And that lobby smell!! Holy crap I am addicted to it and am now on a mission to recreate it. Loved the little touches like the in-room aromatherapy, the relaxed check-in process, the hat painting and the poolside DJ, drummer and sax player who were all amazing. The food and drinks were excellent. Favorites were several pastas and pizzas at Mi Carisa, the filet and Mayan Coffee at Cueva Siete, the lobster fried rice at Mura House, and the garlic soup at 2087. We enjoyed many Palomas, margaritas, mini beer shots (they're as good as everyone says) and Pacifico Suaves at the pool. Speaking of the pool, the fried chicken tacos, nachos and chicken tenders were sooo good. The pool waiters were some of the best in our opinion - they worked their butts off but were attentive and reliable. We enjoyed a private tequila tasting w/ the resort sommelier Nicholas. It was an extra charge but felt worth it. We had WONDERFUL massages at the spa. We did the couples hot stone massage. Those ladies were strong!! I had to drag my husband there and now he's a changed man who wants massages weekly, ha. The hydrotherapy was fun too and we had the pool to ourselves afterward. We used Lomas Travel for private transfers to and from the airport and they were excellent! THE MISSES (and I use that term loosely): We booked the Isla Mujeres Luxury Sailing excursion through Vacation Makers. The van rides to and from the marina in Cancun were looonnnngggg and uncomfortable. The catamaran was packed and the swimming and snorkeling felt rushed. However, the drinks were flowing, lunch was delicious and we had plenty of time on the island. Next time I'd opt for a private or semi-private boating trip that prioritized swimming or at least offered a luxury bus instead of a small van in desperate need of new shocks. We couldn't figure out how to put the AC on auto in our hotel room, so it was either 58 degrees or turned off. The towels weren't particularly nice and there were not enough towel hooks in the bathroom so linens and hung bathing suits felt damp the whole time. Minor, but felt worth nothing. I didn't love Cueve Siete. I'd skip that next time and do a second trip to Mura House. The food was meh, the drinks were served in awkward vessels, and it was too bright and absolutely freezing inside. The host kindly provided me a shawl though which was a nice touch. We had breakfast daily at 2087 but had to leave without our food on the last day because it was taking entirely too long and we had to catch our ride to the airport. It was a Friday morning and the resort felt much more crowded that day and the evening prior. Our host was Marlon. I'd give him a 5 out of 10 - he texted us here and there to check in, and helped us with a few things we requested, but we didn't physically see him after our second morning there. To be fair I had booked all our restaurants and spa appointments myself prior, but I wouldn't have minded a bit more attention (or at least an in-person hello at the pool like I saw some other hosts do daily). The hosts do seem to be what you make of them though, with the exception of a few standouts noted in other reviews. All in all, it was perfect and we look forward to returning! PLEASE keep in mind that we're still very much in the midst of a pandemic. Mexico is behind the US in vaccine rollouts and there are still restrictions about how hotels and restaurants can operate. Have a little patience and understanding for the staff.

Hotel's Favourite
I had 5 cruises canceled due to Covid 19, so I decided to try my first all inclusive vacation. I called a travel agent and told her to send me somewhere open. My friends decided to wait out Covid, so I traveled solo. It was amazing. From arrival late in the evening, to an early morning checkout, every detail was perfect. The resort was beautiful and kept clean. My local host, Pascual met me on the morning after I arrived. He got my excursion vouchers, verified spa treatments, checked on my departure transportation, and even had the bell boy there to get my luggage to the lobby at 3:55 am. It was wonderful knowing I didn't have to worry about little details. Food: i ate dinner at each of the 4 restaurants and never had a bad meal. I was there for 7 nights and struggled to decide which restaurant I didn't want to eat at twice. Room service was also delicious, but it does take a while. So order earlier. (They will give an estimated time, so you can decide if you want it delivered still. ) Breakfast was only OK, but the lunch at the restaurant and poolside were really good. Spa: they have inclusions, where spa services only cost a 25% service charge. I had 3 spa treatments that were at least 80 minutes each and all of them were wonderful. Beatrice gave the best lava stone massage ever. My favorite excursion was Rio Secreto. The pool service was outstanding. I'm fair skinned and they moved my umbrella to keep me in the shade. I also enjoyed setting up in a lounger on the beach. Reading a good book while they brought me amazing cocktais. I can't wait to go back.

I traveled with four friends for a well needed R&R for two weeks at Unico. I had always avoided all-inclusive resorts so was initially a bit leery. Wow, was I in for a pleasant surprise. Immediately upon entering the stylish lobby we were presented delicious welcome drinks that were to set the tone for our entire visit. We were introduced to our concierge Miguel who was absolutely fantastic in setting up all of our restaurant reservations as well as arranging any of our spa treatments and excursions. Miguel made the entire process easy and made sure that we had a great time no matter where we were. 10 Thumbs up for Tortuga Cenotes and our snorkeling excursion with turtles and sting rays! The food at each of the 5 restaurants was delicious and they have really put some effort into their beverage program. Food and drinks at each place were unique and truly delicious. There are plenty of pools to hang out at and they all look very inviting. Our three adjoining rooms all had swim out pools, so we utilized what we considered to be our "private and personal" swimming pool. The servers were ideal and conscientious, bringing drinks to us so that we didn't even have to leave our little slice of heaven not even for a minute. I have already recommended Unico 20 87 to other friends and I personally look forward to returning myself.

Unico has a variety of amazing restaurants. One of our favorites was Mi Carisa. At the time we went, it was an Italian restaurant in the evening but also served breakfast every day until noon. My review really is for the service we received from Alexander Perez. We ate breakfast there twice and were lucky enough to have Alexander be our waiter. He was professional, friendly, and quick. He knew how to answer all of our menu questions and always took our requests to the next level by either adding an extra side or something that would compliment our meal. Thank you Alex.

Unico 2087 is the best resort I've ever been to. Me and my fiance went there for her birthday and to celebrate our engagement as a couple. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating especially our pool concierge Carlos!! We got the same spot everyday. The food was amazing at every place we ate. The portions are smaller, but we just ordered more which is fine with me. Some places it did take a while for the food to come out but when you are on vacation what's the rush right? The rooms are so beautiful and inviting. We had a ocean view and we got just that. We were on the 3rd floor and I couldn't have asked for a better vacation. I highly recommend this place and we plan to go back there very soon!
