Dreams Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort offers an energetic vibe, often highlighted by music events, which some guests find loud but others enjoy for the lively atmosphere. The service garners appreciation for its friendliness, despite occasional disorganization. While the resort's location is celebrated for its scenic beauty, the distance from other activities is notable.
Amenities such as pools receive acclaim, but access issues and costly activities lead many to question the value. Room experiences vary, with cleanliness and modernity praised, but noise and misrepresentations noted.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I had a wonderful 4 day escape to this brand new resort!
We used Am Star airport transfer which was recommended by the resort and it was efficient and easy.
I will say, check in was a bit frustrating and took 2 hours at which point the sales pitch comes in to join the preferred club. I didn't appreciate this after a long day of travel. We just wanted to get settled and relax, so could have done without the hour of sales pitch!
We were able to upgrade our room for a price. The upgrade gave us access to the Secrets side which was well worth it for us. The pools on the Secrets side are beautiful! Rooftop pool was not yet open. We were told expected opening date of 2/20.
The room was beautiful with nice amenities. Bed was very comfortable. Beautiful view from our balcony. Housekeeping every day and the mini bar was restocked daily.
It took us a bit to find our way around but once you figure it out, it is easy!
The service at the resort was above and beyond! Each staff member was more friendly and helpful than the next.
The place is impeccably cleaned! There was not a point in any day that there wasn't someone cleaning, sweeping and straightening. There were always fresh towels, clean surfaces and the staff did their best to keep up with removal of used glasses, etc...
Food at all restaurants was very good. We did not have a single bad meal. Getting in for a table was easy, no wait and no problem getting a reservation at the Japanese restaurant.
The beach area is small and a bit rocky with good waves for surfing. If you are looking for a vast expanse of beach and calm waters, this isn't the place.
My spa experience was marginal. I was disappointed. While the facility itself is beautiful, the staff was not helpful or knowledgeable nor particularly friendly. I paid quite a lot for an 80 minute facial and left disappointed and did not get the facial I had requested.
Checkout took about an hour which was also not very enjoyable. They definitely need to work on their check in and check out processes.
We really enjoyed Dreams Bahia Mita! :-)

Just went back from Dreams Bahia Mita (3
Nights).
Best:
Rooms: The hotel is part of a big resort, which has been split to have Secrets on the right and Dreams on the left (facing the ocean). This makes almost all rooms to have pools in front and ocean view to be partial (even though our booked room supposed to be ocean front). It didn’t disturb us much as the room was super close to be on restaurants and the pools and beach.
The rooms are new, nice and clean, and ours have a small tub in the balcony. Cleaning was done and restocked daily. The room has a tablet where you can see the hotel services and order room service (at no cost). Almost no external noise is heard on room during the day
Restaurants: Since we were with a small kid, we looked for quick, simple choices. However, dinner at Patio was surprisingly good (mixiote and the tamal were delicious). A lot of healthy choices in the buffet, and waiters were always very kind. The snack grill had the longer lines and people in line were rude sometimes
The not so good:
Being the Secrets resort an adult only hotel, we had the impression that Dreams had a similar “adult mostly” vibe. Also, during the day, the music coming from Secrets pool (club like music) was heard everywhere (only plants split both places). The night show was held on a common plaza in front of the lobby at 930 pm but on Saturday, show was done by the pools and music was extremely loud (you could hear from the room with balcony closed).
The beach outside the hotel is very rough. Sand is covered with small stones and it hurts to step barefoot. If you walk to the beach to the left or right, there are places to actually swim but not the one in front of the hotel. The water is super clean and you can see fishes (we saw a stingray)

We had a wonderful experience at Dreams Bahia Mita.
First and foremost the architecture & decoration is stunning. Modern spaces and furnishings, taking advantage of fabulous views and nature inspired materials. The rooms are very comfortable.
The service is impeccable: starting with Ana, and the girls at reception and our concierge. All employees very attentive, efficient and friendly, going above and beyond for our every need.
My experience with food was extraordinary. We had a great experience at The Wine Bar with this young and very innovative Chef (like: Wooow) and sommelier Tomás. Breakfasts are delicious, with all kinds of choices. I loved a station where you can order sweet or savory crepes with surprising items to choose from. All freshly baked goods are absolutely delicious (we learned about the fabulous French baker on-site, who is responsible for all these delights including fresh chocolate croissants..!). Several Restaurants to choose from make it fun and different every day.
The beach is great, you can always find a great space with a lounge, and fresh towels everywhere (no need to return them to a station, or go crazy counting).
Large but not overwhelming, impeccable in every way. The landscaping is beautiful, but most of all I have to say the service and the people at the Hotel are a great asset.
Will definitely return.

The good, the bad and the ugly. Whilst this resort has all the perks on the Secrets (adults only) side unfortunately the Dreams (family) side of the resort is not all it’s shaped up to be. Limited areas you can go with kids, no swim up pool bar options, no family pools with beach views, unorganized staff and no clear information on what you can access with all-inclusive. Staff continuously offering upgrade packages for premium services and timeshare vacations when explicitly saying we are not a timeshare. All covid test appointments booked up so unable to get tested at the hotel before leaving the resort. Drinks on the family side are weak and contain barely any alcohol whereas the adult side offers branded liquor and sufficient pours. We booked the preferred suite which is supposed to include the premium liquor package but is only available at the roof top bar where we can’t go with kids. Note to future travelers, get your drinks from the adult bars and bring them over to the common areas, service seems a little more welcoming over there. Lines at the buffet, staff running around, unaware what’s going on and not acknowledging guests. It’s possible they are trying to retrain staff post covid but it’s the simple things that are being neglected. Waiting in lines to make reservations for exclusive restaurants only to be turned away and the list goes on. Not exactly a family friendly hotel and the fact that the two resorts are is in such close quarters I question if it was actually designed to be a family hotel in the first place. Not very wheelchair; stroller accessible and elevators are poorly positioned and placed, some only go up and don’t dare try to cut through the adult side with a child, you must go the long way, back down and up again. We’ve stayed at a Dreams /Secrets resort in the past so we thought we knew what to expect but this one has it’s issues. The secret is out, families beware!

Dear AngryPickle, We would like to thank you for choosing our resort as your host on your recent getaway to our destination. It was a real pleasure to host you and we appreciate the time you have taken to share your experience on TripAdvisor, your comments are really important to us. We are truly concerned about the outcome of your experience. And we are sorry to hear that we did not exceed your expectations this time. Please accept a genuine apology, as there is nothing more important than your satisfaction and peace of mind. We are very saddened to know that you have found deficiencies and we consider that the description reflects an unusual situation that does not correspond to our usual standards or the services that we want to provide. Dreams is indeed a family resort, where everybody can have fun, therefore we are sorry you did not get that impression. Please be assured that your comments have been taken very seriously and we are following up on this case with the appropriate departments. Know that we empathize and try to put ourselves in the shoes of our guests. I sincerely hope that my response to your comments restores some confidence in our Resort and reconsiders the overall rating you are sadly giving us, and hopefully, you will grant us the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to present the improvements achieved thanks to your valuable comments. Thank you once again and I remain at your service. Sincerely, Ximena Bivian e-Concierge.

We are currently here on our honeymoon, staying in preferred club and have access to both the Dreams and Secrets sides of the resort, the resort itself is stunning.
However, I wouldn’t rate the hotel in terms of the service it offers.
1. I am not a big drinker but when I come to resorts such as this I expect to have access to drink menus but there are none to be had expect for paid wines and bottles of spirits. I don’t need a printed menu but at a minimum I would expect is a QR code menu for resorts of a four and five star standard.
2. The standard of drinks is poor, I like Mojitos…but these are the worst I’ve ever had…they don’t even bother to put mint in the drink at times.
3. They have Nespresso machines in the room which is a nice touch, but then use cheap nasty imitation coffee pods.
4. They have yet to replace any of the complimentary shampoo, shower gels etc in the room since we checked in on Friday - this is basic stuff.
5. We are on our honeymoon but nothing has been done to acknowledge this by the management, staff or even in the restaurants. No bottle of sparkling wine in the room that they serve as part of the all inclusive, no celebratory dessert etc. it’s a poor show really and doesn’t make you feel valued. They really only seem to value those purchasing one of their $30k memberships.
6. When I’ve previously stayed at an AMR properties, those staying in preferred club were able to make a reservation for a restaurant in the evening. This facility is not offered at this resort which means playing Russian roulette with what restaurant you can eat in without having to wait in excess of an hour for your chosen restaurant. We have been going to dinner early just to eat in our preferred restaurant thus leaving the pools etc earlier than we would want thus ruining our relaxed honeymoon.
We are sorry we didn’t stay in Cancun at Finest Playa Mujeres where we got married as we feel we have downgraded resort from a 5* to a 3* by staying at the Dreams/Secrets Bahia Mita. It’s been a culture shock in terms of service snd product offering despite being similar price points when I booked.
We want to love this resort, but are struggling. Unless things drastically changed we would both be very reluctant to return.

Let me start by mentioning the hotel is new, it is a beautiful property, the room is comfortable and pretty. The staff is helpful and always attentive, it is also noticeable that the hotel staff is still in training and there is a lot of room for improvement but their attitude is great and they want to provide good customer service.
Food is good, can find good options but some restaurants don't allow kids. The elevators don't seem to be enough for the guests, our room location was not ideal and to get to the lobby and or pool/restaurants area you had to go such a long way and take a second elevator to be able to get there, very confusing but mostly it kind of shows a lack of planning in the hotel design. They tried to mix 2 properties in one same property (Dreams Hotel and Secrets Hotel) and its just very confusing.
I am not a big beach person so the fact that the beach is not really good didn't bother me. If you plan to leave your kids at the explorers club keep in mind that they are still very disorganized, my kids and nephews didn't want to return there. There is still some construction work going on so keep that in mind. Our room did smell pretty bad at nights, some plumbing issues I guess, they tried to fix it and it was improved but still not solved completely.
The hotel does make an effort and I hope they do what's needed to take this hotel to the next level.

I’ll just start out by saying we have been to about 10 dreams resorts over the last 10 years and love the brand. This one was quite a bit cheaper than we would have paid for others so I guess that helped with the disappointment a bit. It is still a great resort but I don’t think the staff is even close to the AM resort staff I am use to. The property wasn’t nearly as clean as others dreams, the food not even close to other dreams, first holiday I gotten sick from the food on in 20 years. The pools not amazing, they were warm or at least one of them was. My opinion they should make the whole resort a dreams as I would never go to the secrets side of I was looking for an adults only vacation. Your rooms would have a view of all the kids screaming and playing. It was fine for us people on the dreams side with kids to have that view but not if I was looking for an adults only vacation. They don’t have enough sun chairs out. First dreams that I have been to that if you aren’t out there by 730/8 there will be zero chairs left. I had emailed about my husbands birthday when we were there and then I also physically went to concierge to request a bottle of champagne e delivered and they said no problem but it never showed up. We were on the preferred side for reference as well. The room we were in was in a good location but the preferred club lounge was sooo far away from our room or any good location and we usually use the preferred lounge all the time but it was in the opposite direction of pool, beach or restaurants that we never used it more than twice in 10 days. The kids club is great, I felt safe leaving them as I always do at dreams kids club and the kids enjoyed it a lot. With this being a fairly new resort I am assuming this was all new staff and they just aren’t there yet. Whoever designed the property, I get what they were trying to achieve but I think it’s a huge fail on design with the dreams and the secrets and layout of it all. Compared to other lines of resorts puerto Vallarta it is still a great option just not up to the standards I have seen at other dreams by any means.

I could not recommend this hotel enough. The hotel resort grounds are gorgeous, pictures do not do this hotel justice. During our stay every staff member was wearing a face mask, the hotel was extremely clean and the staff constantly cleaning whilst we were there, I felt very safe during the current climate.
The hotel staff could not do enough for us, all the staff we saw were so friendly and asking if there was anything they could do for us. A big thanks, to Abraham the pool concierge, Julian the lobby concierge and Carlos the AMR members liaison who went out their way to make our stay extra special. The food in the resort was delicious, and the night time entertainment was very good, particularly the Mexican fiesta night was such a unique event.
We are already hoping to book again!!

The staff was wonderful. The pool concierges, Israel and Nancy, helped us find tables, umbrella's and anything else we needed during our stay. Israel even gave us a tour of the 8th floor which was not open and arranged to have our rooms decorated to celebrate a special occasion.
Mitzi was our server by the pool and was exceptional. She always had a smile, was constantly checking to make sure everything was good and was very friendly.
These are the types of people that make your trip special and make you want to go back!

We travelled from Vancouver, Canada, as two small families with our seven year old boys for a week. This hotel really was amazing for our group. The kids loved the kids club and my son is not typically a joiner. The programming and staff were excellent.
The grounds are beautiful and kept to an impeccable standard and the staff are superb. We couldn’t have asked for better service in any area and all the staff were very friendly and seemed genuinely happy.
Lots of options for pools and it was never difficult to get pool chairs. Also chairs on the beach were available and the surfing out friend was a huge bonus. Board rentals are available for $25 USD an hour or $50 USD a day.
We booked a preferred room partial ocean view and we’re right at the front of the resort so it was very convenient (photo of view attached for reference). The benefits of preferred seem to be room location and the 8th floor rooftop pool which was very decadent. For us the added cost was worth it.
The food at all of the restaurants is very good quality for an all inclusive with a wide variety of options. Also we never had to wait for a table at any restaurant.
A few things that may be takeaways for some people:
The resort is quiet in the mornings but there is music at the main pool starting at noon that may not be zen for all. As we were travelling with kids moot point for us. There are also a lot of weddings, which can be very fun but there is noise as a result. Two nights it was loud until 10:15, once a private event on one of the bigger suite patios near our room and once fireworks. The noise wasn’t obnoxious but if you’re militant about putting kids to bed at a certain time a room at the back of the resort may be better.
There is some noise from the construction beside the Dreams side of the hotel. It didn’t bother us too much (again, kids) but it is present during the day.
We didn’t order room service as the menu is a bit limited and it takes awhile.
We would not hesitate to come here again, it really was a wonderful property.

Download the Hyatt app, all of the dress codes are listed in the restaurants' information. Please follow the dress code, it's very hit and miss as to how often it's enforced, but you don't want to be sent back to change.
My questions are certainly not fake they are totally real
Thanks for being sarcastic
