We recently returned from another 2-week trip to Grand Palladium Vallarta and again were privileged to stay in the Family Selection. We have now stayed at this part of the hotel in excess of a dozen times. On this trip, the meaning of ‘Family Selection’ hit home more than any other time. Most people see this section of the resort dedicated to couples with children. In reality, the special treatment goes beyond catering to parents and kids – the ‘Family Selection’ recognizes their guests as a part of the ‘Palladium Family’ and the ties deepen each time we visit. After numerous stays, the meaning of Welcome Home touches us more than words can tell. Thank you to everyone who made our trip so very special, again!
I would like to share a few insights to elaborate:
- Prior to arrival, we were asked to complete a wish list. This was a new initiative which allowed us to select some of the special services offered, whether it be robes in the suite, extra pillows or use of the many options available for guests with or without children;
- Reservations, based on availability are offered at some of the ala carte restaurants prior to your stay;
- Our prior request of room & location was met to a tee;
- The Family Butlers are all accommodating from the moment you arrive.

The amenities of this resort make our stays great but it’s the people, who have become ‘our family’ make our vacations special and memorable. Around the pool, a special ‘gracias’ to Carlos A for his excellent service, whether providing special drinks, lunch or the occasional Spanish lesson. As well, both Antonio and Caesar did a great job. At the Nest Bar, a special thanks to Pedro for again, making his great Expresso Martini’s and keeping my ‘medicina’ safe & secure in the freezer. Of course, our hard-working family at the Nest Restaurant need to be recognized. In the morning, Daniela does a great job managing the crew. We had a great start each day seeing Juan, Julia and Roberto serving breakfast, filling up our coffee or getting extras that made our meals enjoyable. Thanks as well to Monica and Hilda who are new to the morning crew – fue muy lindo haberte conocido. At the end of our day, Anayli did a great job hosting and leading the night crew. A special thank you to Ignacio (Nacho) for arranging some special meals with the kitchen. It was great to see Tino and Javiar, both have been at the resort for as long as we can remember.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Omar for his special attention to our needs and wishes. He and Janeth make a great team that add special touches that made us feel like family. The occasional ‘piscina de esquina’ visits, checking to see if we needed anything, were very much appreciated. And of course, a special 'family dinner' was one of our vacation hi-lights!

We are very privileged to have a special friendship with Mable who went above and beyond to make our vacation so spectacular. She is one of the ‘behind the scenes’ individuals at Grand Palladium Vallarta who works hard every day and makes a difference for each and every guest. Thank you from both of us. We appreciate every thing that you have done!

Why take a chance? Becoming part of the Palladium Family is why!

We look forward to our next trip – we’ll see everyone real soon.

We were 2 couples with no children who stayed for a week in Family Selection area. We chose the Family Selection as it used to be the adults area but even with the re-branding; it was quiet and had multiple extra amenities.
Rooms were nice and well-kept. Family Selection wrist bands had RFID door entry was cool; no key to misplace. Our mini bar was well stocked daily (chocolate bars, chips, juice boxes and beers). Robes in the room and slippers were provided upon our request. Also umbrellas provided on the one rainy day.
Staff were by far the best part of our holiday.
Oscar and Manuel at the Family Selection lobby bar made the best cocktails. They both went out of their way to make sure each of us had a quality handmade beverage that suited our tastes. They listened and were more than willing to make whatever we asked for.
Alma's fresh guacamole at the La Adelita restaurant kept us coming back. A very polite and friendly lady.
Bravo at the front desk helped us with our off-resort travel arrangements and made sure things ran smoothly.
The surf shack staff (sorry their names escape me) made playing in the waves a whole new experience and were happy to accommodate the early morning water lovers in our party.
Overall the resort feels just a little dated/worn around the edges, however the staff and surf really made up for this discrepancy.

I was nervous about this resort as there weren't a ton of reviews.

I was so happy about our choice! We traveled with extended family so 11 in our group.
The Family Selection is where its at! They really cater to kids!

Check in was fast and efficient.

Our room was big, clean, and fit our needs. There was a wants/needs list to fill out which was so nice. From chips/gatorade/snickers/baby wipes,diapers/step stool, night light. Pillow preference. They did their best to accommodate.

Milk and cookies brought to our room each night.

The nest restaurant staff is amazing. Breakfast,Lunch and dinner, they all were wonderful and should be recognized. They work hard and do it with a friendly smile each day.
Liz in the pool bar is the hardest working person! She got to know you pretty quick and never forgot what you liked! I miss her!

We did venture to the other side to swim in their pool a bit, because it was much warmer. They have slides and zero depth for littles.

The Mexican restaurant was great! Did not care for the steakhouse. Buffet was your average buffet. Portifino was ok. Nothing was amazing.

I reached out to Smile Services for some help with special events while we were there. (my daughters 3rd birthday and an Anniversary for my BIL and SIL. Ana Acosta knocked it out of the park! She blew us away with roses, small treat bags for the kids, Pido came to play with the kids, desserts that were picked just for them, our own personal singer Grecia who was absolutely AMAZING! It was one of the best surprises we have ever had! *If you have a special event, reach out the Smile Services. It is free. But they only do select events, as they get asked alot* Usually email them 2-3 weeks prior to arrival.

Our concierge also decorated our room with a tent, banner, toys and balloons and made my 3 year olds dreams come true! She felt so special! The concierge staff are amazing! So helpful!

I highly recommend Family Selection at Grand Palladium if you are traveling with young kids. So much to do!

I did not use the daycare service.

In the family selection pool, activities are provided to the kids each day that my kids participated in. Mermaid school, make decorate cookies, and pizza. Make bracelets. Super fun.

We did venture off the family

Returned to Family Selection this year and was mostly good. Clean, large room, pristine grounds, friendly staff, lots of wave jumping and whale sightings. Decent beds, great toiletries, unlimited a la cartes, decent selection at buffet, always lots of seats. Nice beach. Water features at spa is nice - free if in Family Selection.

Things that were better: more live music at family pool and around resort, less busy overall.

Things that were worse: down graded extras such as one free lobster dinner per week, table side Caesar Salad. Super Bowl party moved to theatre and you had to pay for best seats, otherwise was very limited seating so had to watch from room. Ceiling in lobby bar collapsed 10’ from us (luckily no guests were hurt). There was an obvious leak! No disco as they were doing repairs for 2 weeks. Widespread and strong sewage smells (more than last year)

The other thing that was frustrating was posted activities like volleyball and pool volleyball did not happen. Staff made half hearted announcement and then nothing would happen. Two of my favourite activities so I was disappointed.

Other than having a gtd lounger and a pool that is not like bath water, not sure if upgrade was worth it this time.

Seems people with young families enjoy the resort.

We visited the Palladium Dec 28 - Jan 6th, and we were greeted by Erick & Felipe who checked us in & talked us through taking any excursions.
Along the time of our visit we met Karin, Max, and Luis in the travel club & they were super welcoming, friendly and informative about how the club works & the benefits we receive. It was really great to get to know them and build a relationship because they actually care about their members.
We had lots of fun doing the activities with the POP Entertainment, Moises, Fernanda, Martin, & Eduardo. I had so much fun dancing & laughing and playing their activities and one of my favorites were the Olympics!
Edgar at the water sports is such a great guy for instructions about doing water sports and informing about surfing and boogie boarding.
Our bartenders Ivan & Luis at the sports bar always took care of us and our drinking needs with the most delicious drinks!
Dj Johnny Lima definitely knows how to be the best Dj, I didn’t want to go to my room early if he was our Dj for the night!
Ricardo at the Nest was one of the best servers we had, he always made sure we had our water!
The time we spent here was so pleasant it was hard to leave. The New Years dinner at the buffet was so lovely & great, there was so much thought and effort put into it, I was so full! We enjoyed the show with the dancers & singers, I really felt like I was at a huge concert because they did their job so well!
I loved how clean the resort was & every employee we met along the way was so kind & friendly and always say good morning!
The security was also really good, always making sure I was doing good & people were staying safe.
The food was so delicious at every restaurant but my most favorite for dinner was probably Bamboo because I love sushi!
I would highly recommend this resort for anyone, family or couples just trying to get away. Even during Covid there is a lot to do inside the resort.
The only problem we had at the resort which wasn’t a big deal but could be irritating was that there was no waitress at the sports bar, and there was a few days we sat around for 15 mins waiting for someone to take our order. Otherwise the other restaurants were fast & always there for your needs.
We loved hanging out at the beach, the salt water pool is really cool place to see & the sunsets are to die for.
I would recommend around this time to bring some warm clothes because that is 1 thing we didn’t do, and it does get sort of chilly at night & the mornings. During the day it gets really warm & it’s nice.
I will definitely be coming back here again!

I can not fault the surrounding they are beautiful, however the hotel food and staff leave a lot to be desired. The buffet service restaurant really is not good at all food is over cooked to the point you can’t eat it or it’s reheated. Yes there are other restaurants on site that you can book please be warned you have to down load the palladium app to find anything for this hotel, to book the additional restaurants or to find anything out there is no personal touch.
The more local holiday makers seem to take priority to the staff at the hotel and it was only on my last day that I found out you could get things like a latte or cappuccino at breakfast!
The quiet pool had music blaring def leopard isn’t my jam especially when in Mexico and when you can’t here your own music in you head phones.
The rooms are tired and far from deluxe per the TUI brochure.
Sadly far from the relaxing enjoyable weeks holiday
Would recommend a RUI hotel over this any day.

We enjoyed our stay at Family Selection area at Grand Palladium PV. Rooms were well kept and being able to use the Family Selection pool was a peaceful and relaxing experience and worth the value. And our service from Carlos was nothing less than exceptional! Mucho Gracias Carlos and the rest of the GPPV staff!

We spent 6 nights at the Family Selection at Grand Palladium with our two kids. We all had a wonderful time and would return in a heartbeat! Our room had two double beds and was close to the pool area. It was very convenient to be able to run back to the room easily while using the pool.

We spent most of our time using the Family Selection pool and beach, as we found the Palladium main pool area to be quite loud. The Family area was much more relaxing. I don't think we would have enjoyed our time there as much if we hadn't stayed in Family Selection. My son enjoyed some of the activities at the pool such as a water balloon fight. My son bonded with Carlos at the pool bar and was quite disappointed not to have him around when Carlos had a day off. It was great people like Carlos that made the trip extra special!

We enjoyed all of our meals, with the Asian being our favorite. My son liked the ice cream offered at the Bosque. My husband enjoyed the margaritas made with mezcal at the pool bar, and the ceviche at the Nest. My teenage daughter enjoyed trying octopus at the Asian and Nest restaurants, while my favorite meal was the tuna steak at the Asian.

I need to do some work while we were there, and the wifi worked very well. I never had problems connecting like I have at some other resorts in Mexico.

We took the public bus into Puerto Vallarta for a day to walk around. It took over an hour to get there, but was an interesting cultural experience. We walked the malecon and went on the pier.

There were only a couple of downsides to our experience. One was the huge insect population. I'm sure it can't be avoided given the lush tropical location of this resort, but my kids were often quite scared at the size of some of the bugs! The other was trying to sleep while other guests were having a loud conversation in the hallway, but that can happen anywhere.

All in all, we would go back! My son misses Carlos!

Not sure where to start with this? Horrible service? Fecal matter smell? Constant upselling and being lied to when you want the cheaper option that it’s “not available” but then later when you walk away suddenly it is.. magically…!! First Do NOT use your Travel Club at this resort it is not worth it and they DO NOT like Travel Club members - that could not have been more obvious.

A horrific experience resulting from awful customer service. We spent 30% of our vacation asking for the travel club benefits being told “no” us saying no we get those benefits and then waiting and waiting for someone to come back and eventually yes those benefits were available. Simple things like reservations for dinner or hydrotherapy— why was that hard to provide?! Never have I heard staff in the hospitality industry have an auto response of “no” to everything from can I get a drink to asking for a boxed lunch. It soured the vacation.

The resort smelled like raw sewage wafting from all the hotel rooms and it was so bad in the heat that we had to avoid walking down some paths near the buildings or it made us nauseous.

Pools were beautiful, Family Selection was definitely the best option for families but being sold on all the amazing things you get for the travel club spending a LOT of money to be top tier and then getting treated like asking for those benefits was wrong!

Food was ok for a resort but the staff were chaotic we waited 1 hour for food each night (except at the buffet) with starving kids and all our courses would be served ALL at once! No room on the table and by then you just want to leave. Food was sometimes wrong or cold and sometimes never came.

Travel Club concierge were awful horrible communication. It seemed like everyone in the resort was always trying to upsell you so you spend “American dollars” on add ons. The Travel Club concierge when asked why other customers were treated better said that they were “actual paying customers” insinuating that spending $90,000 on a Travel Club membership makes the travel club guest somehow a “freeloader”?!

Do NOT do any of the adventures packages they are an upsell and the prices is Never the price it’s a “ we give a good deal for you” and then the driver takes you to places where the tour person clearly has a kickback going on then they force you to eat lunch at “ a special location” but again no choice you pay the price the “restaurant” has determined you pay — not expecting 1100 peso for lunch!!

Family of 16 Celebrating a 70th Bday. Check in was awful. Receptionist was in a bad mood. Guest Relations Manager messed up our Dinner Reservations and Never came to confirm with our group. There are no Concierge at all. Family Selection Amenity had to be requested 3 times in order for it to come to the rooms. Food quality is very poor. Rooms are not as clean as they were before.
Waiters at Nest are friendly but personnel is very low, so service is not close where it was nor where they say it is.

Hi 423N... - sorry for the delayed response. In all honesty, I don't know the answer to that? If you are staying on the GP side, the upgrade to Family Selection is actually very reasonable and that would include the room upgrade. As to whether you can buy a day pass, I am not sure. We know that there are many locals who purchase day passes without getting the room for the night. The cost of this, as I understand is way more than a GP guest upgrading.
