The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort garners accolades for its opulent amenities and the personalized touch in its service, which many guests find warm and responsive. Although some guests feel the resort is overpriced, particularly criticizing the food value and extra costs, its atmosphere receives praise for the well-maintained grounds and charming decor, including unique features like the outdoor showers and morning tea service.
While the rooms are generally lauded for their cleanliness and spaciousness, occasional noise complaints arise. The resort's cleanliness stands out, with meticulous attention to detail noted by guests.

Detailed Reviews
From the moment you arrive at the airport and are met by their drive, the St Regis Punta Mita does everything right.
Check in is great. There’s no typical “front desk” here. You’re greeted with margaritas and a seat at a small table overlooking the impeccable property.
The standard rooms are well appointed and very functional with a large closet and bathroom that includes an indoor and outdoor shower which is a nice treat. Each room also has a nice terrace with a table and chairs and a chaise lounge.
What really set this resort apart for me was that every room includes a butler who is accessible anytime via text message. No matter what you need, from dinner reservations to a ride somewhere, your butler is quick to help. They also provide complimentary daily coffee service in the morning delivered to your room minutes after you text. Thanks to Omar, Cayetano and Christian who were great!
The hotel offers shoe shine service and ironing for 2 items per person per day which is a great amenity.
With only 120 rooms, the expansive resort never feels crowded. There is no hassle to try and get a beach or pool chair. The chairs are well spaced out for privacy which I appreciated. Venture to the adjacent Four Seasons and that’s not the case. The outdoor staff is always quick to help. They also provide ice buckets with water bottles and refresh them throughout the day to hydrate during the warm sunny days.
The outdoor food service is great and surprisingly not expensive for this type of resort. Drinks are around 12 dollars and less during 3-4 happy hour. Chips and guacamole about $9. We ate the breakfast buffet at Seabreeze which has a taco/quesadilla bar daily. There’s also cooked to order eggs and tons more to choose from. We ate outside the resort for dinner and again liked the reasonable pricing.
This is a resort for those who want privacy, luxury and relaxation combined with a staff that is constantly “at your service.” There’s no loud music, dancing or rowdy bars on property. I also never felt hassled for tips. One housekeeper seemed surprised yet grateful I was offering her a tip.
For those seeking a true 5 star experience, the St Regis is it.

We just returned from a 5 night stay. Everything was amazing. COVID protocols were definitely in place. Not once did I see a staff member without a mask on. Housekeeping was upon request based upon when you were out of your room. This was easily accomplished via the chat in the Bonvoy app. Housekeeping would also replenish the room with new face masks and bug spray. The buffet recently re-opened with the staff getting you anything you wanted from the buffet in order to keep everyone from touching the items themselves. Aside from it being beautiful, the staff couldn't have been nicer. The service was excellent. At the beach, someone would always appear to either set up chairs, bring buckets of bottled water, fruit, snacks, and cold towels. I can't recommend the property enough.

+1
We recently got back from a 4 night stay in at the St. Regis. Based on the reviews I read, I had high expectations and for the most part the resort did not dissapoint. The most exceptional aspect of this hotel is the people. The service was beyond exceptional. From the butlers, to the wait staff in the restaraunts to the pool and beach attendants, everyone was there to serve and no request was too much. Simply amazing.
We booked a king or two queen, garden view and as a Titanium Bonvoy Elite, were upgraded to a deluxe king, ocean view room. Despite not being able to use our Suite Night Rewards, this room was more than adequate and had a great view, despite being on the ground level. The room was spacious, although it didnt have a couch. The shower was a little strange, just stuck in the same room as the tub, with no defined area, so when you'd shower water would go everywhere. The TV was very small, and had terrible reception, no HD channels at all. This was true not just in the rooms, but in the bars as well? I realize we're not there to watch TV, but a 5 Star resort should at least have HD TVs in 2020. All the channels were not only SD, they were fuzzy, like watching TV back in the 80's with rabbit ears. It was beyond bizarre. The rooms was a bit dated, and are very much in need of an update. We had some friends who were staying next door in the Four Seasons and their rooms were newly renevoated and were much nicer than ours was. So if having an amazing in room experience is important to you, this hotel may not meet that standard.
As a Titanium Elite, they did offer us 2 free continental breakfasts each morning. We upgraded to the full buffet for $15 each. Honestly, their full buffet is no nearly worth the whopping $50 a person. It's very standard, and the kind you'd find at any Marriott or Sheraton. Other than their fantastic "green juice", the breakfast was lackluster, and not worh more than the $15 up charge. The beach area while rocky was beautiful and did offer some great swimming and snorkeling options right from the beach. The Mita Mary boat restaraunt was great as was Sea Breeze, and again the staff everywhere was incredible. My wife enjoyed a facial and massage at the Remedy Spa, and felt like the sevice was worth the expense.
The resort was almost at 100% occupancy, but it never felt crowded, unlike the time we spent at the Four Seasons next door, which felt very cramped at the pools and beaches. Perhaps it's because the resort is fairly sprawling, but it felt like a peaceful oasis in comaprison to it's next door neighbor. I'd have to say without the exceptional service, this may have been a three star experience, but the people, the location and tranquility really made this a great experience for us. I'd wouldn't hesitate to return once they refurbish their rooms.

Visited as a family. Had two rooms. Good airport transfer. Ok rooms, big, but with outdoor creatures...
Service at pools and beach were good.
Butler service was nice, but morning coffee was slow... up to 45 min. Would prefer an espresso machine + coffee service. Especially since they then charge at breakfast for coffee.
All seats at the family pool were "reserved" by the time we walked by for breakfast at 9-9:30. This was annoying, and most people were not there until past noon. The staff could do more to prevent this.
Breakfast was ok. The hostess was great.
Some unsafe activities were not stopped by staff. Such as children jumping from the upper pool level in the kids pool to the lower. At least a 10 foot drop.
Clearly management needs to step up with issues with guests.. the pool and beach staff feel uncomfortable to challenge guests.

It’s hard to review a resort during the pandemic, especially a grand and esteem property like St. Regis but review it we must. All too often the resorts and hotels continued to operate during COVID-19 and continued to charge five star prices while providing three star services. This has to be pointed out.
This is of course a five star resort located in a very exclusive gated area. St. Regis and 4 Seasons are the 2 flagship properties here. Both offer unparalleled service and amenities.
The area is about 45 minute drive from Puerto Vallarta airport. Very tight security both outside and inside the compound. Check in was swift and they upgraded us to an ocean view room.
Room was spacious, walk in closet, separate tub and shower, plus an outdoor shower which was nice. Limited number of TV channels, good internet speed.
Food at the restaurants was bland and I recommend eating in Punta Mita. Several facilities were closed, including spa, gym by reservation only, one pool out of 3 was closed, no minibar which was really annoying.
Where they really dropped the ball was the staffing levels. One example. We go to the beach. No lounges are available. There are open bottles, trash, dirty plates on tables. No one is there to clean it up, no one is there to help us set up a lounge. There is only one person on duty between the pools and the beach. At these price points and at this supposedly luxury levels this is unacceptable. Sorry. If you furloughed the staff then shut down but if you decided to stay open and you still charge close to 500USD per day then be ready to provide high levels of service. You can’t have it both ways.

Sadly this hotel is tired. It needs a serious refresh. The staff do their best for what they are given but this is not a luxury hotel.
The facility is old and cracks can be seen everywhere. There is no ambience. The fire pits and lanterns don’t work or are not turned on to save money. The back of the house can be seen everywhere. Walking around it is not uncommon to see piles of trash behind buildings. There is no effort to hide things.
The food is awful. The menus are un-inspirational and lack any vision or flavor. As stated in the title, this is a Sheraton.
At the spa everything is on sale and the facilities barley work. The men’s hot tub was cold and the women’s steam room barley functioned.
There is nothing elegant here. The people writing such great reviews have clearly never been to a real five star resort. The casual restaurant resembles a sports bar in an airport. The only music comes from the TV’s. This resort was probably once great and is now living off the St. Regis name. It needs help.
Save your money. Do not stay here until it is renovated.

We visited in December during Covid and I must say that I felt safer at the St. Regis Punta Mita during Covid than any other place we have visited. The guard takes your temperatures while in the car at the gate, you step onto a mat to clean your feet before you enter the hotel. Hand sanitizer, luggage sanitizing, socially distanced tables and lounge chairs. They really have taken every precaution. We booked a beach front suite (Room 3409) and we absolutely loved the room and the view. I asked about an upgrade (we are Marriott Bonvoy Titanium) to the one bedroom villa and it was available for five of our seven night visit and offered to us for a mere $1800 extra per night. Ah, no thanks! Marriott has really ruined the Starwood Brand and its treatment of its loyal guests. Only the continental breakfast is now offered for Platinum and Titanium members. Service, as always, is top notch at the pools and restaurants. During COVID, there was no butler service which really is not a problem for us as we are pretty self-sufficient.

The resort is beautiful, and every single person we interacted with was friendly and gave us great service. Aside from a slight mildew odor, our room was in great shape and housekeeping was very attentive. The food was very good as well. Did the tasting menu at Carolina which was outstanding. The beach is not swimmable, but pools are abundant.
Now the negative. The overall vibe I got from the resort in general (but not the actual people) was "It's a pandemic, why bother with an overall five star experience?" We had no communication ahead of time as to what would be closed and what wouldn't. We had no orientation as to what the hotel was doing in terms of accommodating necessary changes (like the room service menu being a QR code on channel 38). We were told we'd have a butler appear to orient us, but that never happened. I finally had to message the hotel to get the butler to contact us, and again, zero interaction unless I initiated it. I had to ask twice to schedule our return COVID test (the actual test was straightforward and easy. It was a rapid and we got our results by email 6 hours later). No sunscreen out for guest use, no extra towels anywhere, etc. And no turn down service. They also didn't mark which seating areas on the beach were reserved, so I got shooed out of a chair one morning, which was annoying. Not a pandemic complaint, but still the nickel-and-dime vibe.
Overall, the COVID precautions were great. Staff religiously masked and there is plenty of outdoor dining and space. And I totally understand that things change in a pandemic, and hotels and guests need to adjust. I don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem with a resort using that as an excuse to skimp on service.

I agree with others that the resort can use some updating in the room and the grounds. There was some moldy/dirty tiles in the bathroom, especially around the tub and around the mirror. The hot tub near The soccer field didn’t work and the tile surround around the buttons was cracked and jagged.
The hotel driver from the airport tried very hard to get us to stop at a few businesses he prob gets kick back from. Stopped at a Farmacia he recommended otw from the airport and got taken advantage of for $700 for things we did not order. Obv can only blame myself for falling for it but did not expect this situation since he works for the hotel. It is also annoying to pay an extra $125 to get there from the airport at a hotel in this price range, especially when virtually every hotel guest is coming from the airport.
The good :
the service is basically impeccable, especially the butlers but also everyone at the restaurants , on the beach, at check in, surf rental hut, everywhere. Would rate the service as high as anywhere I’ve stayed including Wynn tower suites etc. I really enjoyed the morning coffee service and the beach day bed service.
The food is excellent. The breakfast buffet is delicious and I appreciate that they force you to have hotel staff load your plate so that only they touch the tongs/ get near the food. Sea Breeze is delicious for dinner as well. The heart of palm ceviche is 10/10. Altamira was also very good. In general the food, the food cleanliness , and the alcohol beverages are all 10/10.
The golf :
Played Bahia , course was in great shape and only saw a few other groups on the course. It is not cheap but I thought was a reasonable value all things considered. One nice thing was someone comes out prob 6 times during the round to change your towels , refill waters/tees , and make sure everything is going well.

Our family has stayed at the St. Regis quite a few times over the past ten years or so, just returned from a late Jan. trip with my husband and things are like they always have been which is both positive and negative. We like the layout of the hotel with all the buildings two stories or less, four suites per building. Views are great from most rooms, rooms are large with beautiful bathrooms/outdoor showers. The grounds pleasant, it never feels crowded and things are kept in good condition. Lots of loungers available on both the beach and at the pool. Service avail. in both locations. Beach is only swimmable at one location which is in front of the beach club where they play sorta annoying music all day but some might enjoy it? There are four restaurants in the resort, we usually only eat at the Mita Mary boat and the restaurant where they serve breakfast. Both are good enough, not amazing. Location of Mita Mary is A+ though, not to be missed for a sunset dinner. Would be nice to see them capitalize on the beautiful sunsets with some live music and a better bar situation at sunset. Would also like to see slight update to furnishings in the rooms, water refills stations so we don't need to use so many bottles and service buttons at beach loungers. Current prices are very high but I find that is the case everywhere. If you are going to Mexico to relax on the beach then the St. Regis is a great option. The Punta Mita area in general is a gem. Very well kept, safe, uncrowded and enough of a town to get some entertainment and variety.

Hi just got back. The plunge pools also have a hot tub attached. These sites are gorgeous. If you need any help booking or to answer any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Yes, but only the section of beach in front of the Sea Breeze restaurant and family pool. It is only a short walk away from the adult only area! We spent most of our mornings in the ocean there! :)
