We booked through a Bike Tour company and were very disappointed. On arrival there was no staff apart from the bartender who literally ran me up three flights of stairs to our rooms before exiting through an upper fire escape leaving me in the dust without even time to drop bags in the room before showing me the bike storage area. Bike storage was an unlocked shed for thousands of dollars worth of bikes. The Auberge itself was old and had lots of character and potential but rooms and bathrooms were filthy and in a sad state of repair. Main hall carpets were pulling off the stairs and looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned - like ever! We loved our tour of the eastern townships and the many character homes and inns but this place was very unfortunate.
An old, but renovated, economic vintage hotel. The rooms are small because 100 years ago that was the standard size. Owner added a private bathroom with shower in each room because I am not sure if there were such facilities in those years. The are rooms with one double bed for couples or two double beds for family. Children can play in large corridors (if they don't make too much noise). There is no TV in each room, but there is a TV viewing room (with DVD player!). We bought a package with an included three-course dinner and the food was excellent. During the summer there is a nice terrasse. There is not much to do in Ayer's Cliff but you can travel around to North Hathley, Standead, and Magog to stay busy; you can also go skying to nearby mountains during winter. There is a walking/biking trail behing the hotel. The Eastern Township is a place to go for the scenic views.…
Nice place, we had dinner at the bar, quality vs price ok. We had a burge5 was very good ,the calamari were good. I had a bloody Mary was tasty and good. The waitress as professional. Good place to grab a quick bite.
It’s the second Time we went there and everything is just fantastic. Food ( pouding chômeur, bavette, raviolis, wow) service, place, room! The staff is just super friendly and give you more that you expected, which is rare on those days. We Will go back Jennifer et Pierre
Only been for the resto. Outside is very nice. Busy road however. Food is more pub bistro food. Nothing special but not bad either. Mainly the only spot to be at night in the town. Good to just sit outside and relax
Very nice, old 'western' style experience. The bedroom was nice, no TV, there is a common room for TV watching. Dinner was really good and the waitress / barmaid / room clerk was amazing. Very sweet, very efficient, a joy to deal with. I joked that the only thing that she didn't do was be the mayor !!! We are definitely planning on going back to area. Nice biking & hiking. Nearby Coaticook Gorge was really nice.
I had an exceptional experience with Auberge Ayer's Cliff. My companion and I experienced travel difficulties, and the Auberge staff not only helped us to navigate the issue over the phone but sent someone to help us get there. We were so grateful for their attention and assistance. Once we arrived, the service was friendly, caring, and efficient. The food was excellent. The accommodations were perfectly clean and very comfortable. The staff of the Auberge went above and beyond the call of duty for us, and our stay was as cozy as we could have hoped for that winter weekend. Highly recommend.
We had booked a night here through Groupon and although we obviously paid a reduced rate I feel sorry for the clients who paid full price. On arrival there is no check in or reception so we had to track down the barmaid who then had to find our room key etc. The room was tiny.....you had to walk sideways all around the bed. The ensuite (although grateful for an ensuite) was obviously tiny also and when you showered the water kept going hot and cold and there is no room for you to back away from the jet. The bed was probably a double not a queen bed and the window of the room looks out onto a balcony which is nice although other guests on your floor go and sit there also and can see straight into your window so we had to keep the blind down all the time (and there was no room for us to sit outside as other guests took up the room) The meal which was included in the Groupon I have to say was the redeeming feature. i would eat there again for sure ...it was lovely. When we got up in the morning there wasn't a soul around to check us out or ask how our stay was (not surprising as I imagine there are not always good comments) We left our key in a bowl on the stairs. Won't stay there again.…
We were given keys to our rooms, on the second floor, quite a climb as the stairs are uneven, no elevator or help in carrying luggage to your room. The room was clean, very small and the floor appeared to dip in places! I tried to open the window as it was very warm, but the window appeared shut tight, I did not want to force it as the window frame itself as I felt with one push it would come out altogether! Wont be back.
Simply amazing service and food!!! They have a great terrasse, if you are looking for a place to spend a relaxing time with family or friends this place is a must in Ayer's cliff :) And don't forget to finish off your amazing meal with a poudding chômeur :)
