This is my second time to stay at the McLean House Inn and we will be back. Nice clean, comfortable historic home near the water and the Souris Marina. The place is always clean and well kept. We are there to fish, so being able to have coffee and a bite for breakfast was perfect for us.(not to mention some space in the fridge for snacks etc). You are within walking distance to two restaurants and less than 5 minutes to the tuna fleet.

Spent 3 nights in Sept. B&B tastefully renovated and decorated with interesting history. Barb McPhee showed us great hospitality. Guests encouraged to make themselves at home - make a coffee, help oneself to some of Barb's delicious home baked treats ( her blueberry cake is a winner!) Rooms/bathrooms spotlessly clean, as is the rest of the house.
Continental breakfast but with plenty of choice and as much as one would like. Great fresh coffee!
Within walking distance of shops/restaurants and situated a stone's throw from the waterfront.

I stayed here for one night while cycling around PEI. Stayed in room 101 which is on the ground floor. Nice comfortable bed with a ceiling fan as there is no A/C. Was there in September so A/C wan't an issue. There was a shower in the washroom. Breakfast was basic but good with some fresh fruit and I had bacon and eggs. McLean House is well located in Souris walking distance to 3 restaurants, a CIBC, a Robins Donuts, and a Co-OP. If you are bicycling they have a secure shed to lock your bike in. There is a nice screened in porch and sun room full of books and magazines which you have access to.
This is a nice basic B and B well located for the ferry to Les Iles de la Madeleine.

To be honest, I really wanted to say something positive, so the one thing I can say is that it was clean. Now my stay was ruined by an 8 am wake up on a Saturday morning with renovators doing drywall work in the very next room. There was no consideration from the innkeeper Barb McPhee, who pursed her lips when I mentioned we were woken up. She did not take the opportunity to apologise and stop the work. Them we were subjected to a half hour if vacuuming drywall dust. And when I mentioned the noise again, it was as though we weren't really guests. She brought tea and banana bread to the worker instead. After all this is McPhee's, they own this town with a market and a street named after them. So if you have to stay the night in Souris RUN don't walk to another B&B!! I've stayed in so many small and big towns in the Maritimes, and enjoyed the famous hospitality, but you will not find it here.

We stayed on a Friday evening, we paid 127.00 for our room. The inn is not 500 feet from the local tavern, loud music and partying more than within earshot until 2 am at which time the party comes outside into the parking lots, fights, yelling and squealing tires et al. I would not recommend this inn as it is not the tranquil and quiet place professed to be on its website. Unless of course you are into partying and are not hoping for a little peace after a day of traveling.

Inn is located very close to ferry terminal and the room was nice and clean. The breakfast was a great disappointment, poor and cheap. We did not meet the innkeeper and the service was just ok.
The local seafood dinner just next door was very good.
Not a place to return.

We stayed here a few years ago as part of a bicycle tour. I will say this the room was nice and the A/C worked. However there was no secure place out of the weather that we were allowed to use to park our $10,000+ bicycle in. I was told to lock it to an unfastened bicycle rack that would do nothing to prevent it from being stolen. Our tandem weighed more than the rack! Plus it was out in the open with a rain storm moving in. I ignored the inn keeping staff and parked out the outdoor porch at least that way it was out of the rain! Then came the breakfast in a word pitiful. Really you can hardly even call it a continental breakfast. We would not stay here again, there are much more nicer places to stay on the island. If all you need is a room for a night this would do you, but it is not any special experience by any means.

Wish i would've read the reviews before booking my night at the McLean Inn. Usually when entering a B&B you are greeted by the owners and the next morning served a hot breakfast. I guess this is my fault cause i assumed we were getting the hot breakfast but instead were told we had a continental breakfast which consisted of two kinds of fruits still in their box on the table (which i was told by a guest to wash the fruit...she did not seemed to please either) and bread in the fridge that my husband ( who eats ANYTHING) had to throw out cause it was not edible. We ended up paying for a real breakfast at the restaurant next door. We were also greeted by this young girl at our arrival who was very pleasant and helpful every time we had a question. She was not the problem but i was just expecting the owners of the Inn like the other B&B we ever been too. It's an ok place to stay if you just need a quick place to stay cause everything was clean. I too kept hearing people on the sidewalk (swearing and yelling) on their way to the tavern next door. I did not keep me awake at night though fortunately for me.
To me it was just a cold place to stay compared to the warmness of other B&B. Too bad!

Looks lovely from the outside but now a little tired inside. Breakfast very basic, although did offer hot food. Stuck on 3rd floor which is not good with heavy cases and no lift. Don't know if this was the only room with en-suite as booked many months ago so was surprised to be that far up. Felt it was a bit overpriced for what they were offering, and it doesn't compare with other B&Bs of the same price. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room or in any of the lounges and there were plenty of these. Disappointed. Glad it was only one night.

We spent one night at McLean House Inn and our room faced the water. The decor is nice and the facilities are clean! We were lucky and got a queen size bed and attached bathroom. Breakfast consisted of juice, hot pancakes and sausage with toast and cereal available. Just a skip to the wharf and 10 minutes to Basin Head... PEI's best kept secret!! Jump off the wharf at Basin Head and let the tide carry you in or out! No jelly fish at Basin Head either!!! Bonus!!!
