Ambience, staff, food, drinks, décor, personal attention. New bar favourite, warm pita bread with mashed olives. Dinner in the "vault", a private (sort of) room for 2, separated from other diners by a beaded curtain. Casablanca theme throughout, including this huge palm leaf fan in the bar area. Mushroom tart is a must-try, steak frites done to perfection, and the...

The innkeeper was extremely warm. Room was large with faux wood fireplace. Restaurant on-site - food was excellent. A short stroll to the main street with lots to do. Walk to Trinity College if visiting.

Stayed here with my wife on a visit to a local customer. Found them with a 4 star rating on the internet the day we were driving to the meeting. Wasn't expecting too much. Very nicely surprised with our stay. For the time of year they were on low staff but we still had a great check in, great service...

I was there overnight. I had rooms 5 and 6 and found them very cozy and comfortable. Lots of books. TV was a bit small in Room 5. The hotel decor is country like, i had pine furniture in my room, colours tans and like. It is well kept and clean. To get to our rooms you climb one set...

We visit this dining room fairly often for very specific reasons. First it is quiet. There is background music, but it is subtle. You can still have a conversation even with a spouse who is beginning to be hearing challenged. Secondly - it really is charming. The lamp shades are priceless and the ceiling fans remind us of Morocco. thirdly...

We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the room 2 on the second floor. The bed was comfortable but the pillows could use a new one or two in the room plus decorative pillows. We had the couples getaway package so dinner was a preset dinner. It was great choices as well. The waitress was superb friendly and attentive. It...

We went for their roast beef special.....starting with tasty leek and potato soup, followed by very good crab cakes and salad. For the entrée, we had excellent juicy roast beef, light anf fluffy Yorkshire pudding, along side creamy mashed potatoes, and fresh vegetab;es. cooked al dente. We finished with an outstanding carrot cake, done so well with lemon butter icing...

We wanted a night away with friends and decided to try the Carlyle. The Carlyle is a one minute walk to Port Hope's main street and two minutes from the Capitol Theatre. The Couples package was perfect since it included dinner as well as breakfast. We were not disappointed. Dave the owner greeted us. The set dinner in the Bistro...

I recently started the the Carlyle Inn and Bistro for a few days and found the host, Dave, and the location of the Inn ideal. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the easy parking was a bonus especially with the changeable January weather. Unfortunately this time I did get to eat lunch or dinner in the Bistro...

Have been here several times, lunch and dinner. Great service, they make you feel welcome and pampered. Menu choices always delicious! Looking forward to our next visit! Love the old building, nicely refurbished, clean and well maintained.
