This was our second visit, this time we brought our dog. The units are pretty sound proof, sometimes you could hear doors closing, but no voices or sounds. Laminate floors , amazing heat pump/air conditioning and a huge area out back along with the rails to trails makes this a repeat winner for us! Oh, the included breakfast is incredible. Forget your typical motel breakfast...this is eggs, bacon, cooked as you're seated and juice, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast and...homemade jam and coffee and tea. More like a European bed and breakfast than a North American motel deal. It's clean, and a great price and the location is ideal. Just go, each year they're improving the business, the outside needs some attention, but they are doing great things here!

I stayed for two weeks by myself. It was very comfortable and the view of the trees and river out the back was lovely. I had a couch and a table, a microwave and a small fridge and you could turn the TV to face different directions. There was lots of drawers for storage and the shower had lots of hot water. The wifi worked great most of the time (just slow in early evening hours a couple times).

This was a surprising gem! The room was very clean. Our pets were allowed to stay for a small fee. There are all kinds of free amenities like ice and laundry. There is a huge field out behind the motel where our travel weary pup could run and play ball. And the breakfast was amazing!....freshly cooked bacon and eggs along with other items. They even served homemade blueberry jam. If you're headed along this part of Nova Scotia definitely make this your place to stay.

WOW! This place is amazing. The rooms have been renovated and have new laminate flooring and new AC units(which were greatly welcomed as we stayed in a rare heatwave). The breakfast is included during the summer season and the eggs and bacon were cooked to order. The home made jams and jellies that were served along with the breakfast were just to die for. The rooms have working fridges of a good size and some some even had a freezer which was great for freezing the ice packs for the next days trip. If we are ever this was again, we will be looking at staying here. There is not a coffee maker in the room, however, there is a small room right at the entrance that has coffee available 24 hours. The bed was comfortable and there has been updated outlets near the beds that include USB ports to allow charging of devices.

We arrived there two days ago exhausted from a terrible night in another Nova Scotia motel. It was very early but we asked if we could get in as we were so tired. They let us in immediately and I got a desperately needed nap. The place was old, but generally well cared for and very clean. The room was a good size and the view out the back was attractive. (This was in a lower numbered room. It looked like the ones further from the office had smaller windows in the back) In the morning we found the breakfast better than the other places we stayed, and THEN they offered us home made bacon and eggs and some of the best home made jam we have ever had. I’d certainly recommend this place.

Bright and very clean rooms with friendly staff. Motel is close to trails, shopping and restaurants. A coffee/tea station has been set up for guests and they offer a great little breakfast, including homemade jams!

I was somewhat reluctant to book an older style motel on our road trip, but we made an impromptu stop in the lovely town of Tatamagouche and there was one room available here. After reading the reviews, we took a leap of faith and were very glad we did.
The very courteous front desk man checked us in and pointed out the 24 hour tea/coffee center adjacent to the office. And the drop off box for our key in the morning.
The room was in the newer section toward the end of the long motel, and despite being an older facility, it was very clean and well attended to. A ductless split unit provided welcome AC and the room was a good size with a couch, mini fridge, tv etc. Good shower with lots of pressure and hot water. And surprisingly , we could not hear a sound from adjacent units ( and the place was full!).
My only reason for dropping a star was the queen size bed was not very comfy and creaked every time either of us moved.

As we were leaving, we met the two industrious women who were cleaning the units. Their delightful friendly manner in the midst of a lot of hard work epitomizes the Maritime vibe. ❤️

I would recommend the Balmoral and would stay again.

Based on the rate, was not expecting a high end property; it was good and with not many options in the area worked for us.
At check in I was asked to settle the bill, not sure why but in leaving saw no one is at the front desk after 9:00 PM and before 3:00 PM.
The property is pretty old, clean, as with most hotels, short on electric outlets and they are in the “wrong” place. I need one bedside for a medical device and no luck.
The bath was old but as clean as it could be but toilet wobbled, and not a little.
Unfortunately with no one in the office for check out, no one to report that to.
Breakfast is a Keurig coffee machine and powdered creamer.

On line booking was easy and the cost was very reasonable. The motel is close to everything in Tatamagouche, the decor was a bit dated but the room was extremely clean and the check in/out was easy. The heat pump ensured the temperature was perfect for sleeping. Would absolutely stay there again.
