We loved our stay at the Fairmont House B&B!! Beautiful clean rooms in a historic home, breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from. I'd definitely stay there again. Very handy to cafes, pubs, gift shops with lovely view.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Fairmont House. We stayed for two days, and enjoyed the king suite very much. We also brought our little border terrier Chico with us, and he also enjoyed his time there!! The rooms are very spacious and the air conditioning was a welcome addition after a long day walking around Mahone Bay. It was a nice touch to have a separate sitting room that had a fridge to store water, or food. That really came in handy for us. The room also had lots of books to read. The hosts Tom and Michael were amazing, and the breakfast was so delicious every day…..lots of fruits, yogurt, banana bread, pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast, jams, juice and coffee!!! They really went beyond to make sure we had a great vacation!! We will definitely stay with them again, and I’m already looking forward to it. Great central location for walking to shopping and restaurants…no need to drive anywhere. Don’t hesitate, just book it!!…
Walk from here to everything in Mahone Bay. There are many interesting stores and eateries nearby, but with staff shortages many have reduced their hours. So finding a place to eat after 8pm is a challenge. Mike and Tom have been running the Fairmont for 30 plus years. There is an ample cooked breakfast in a nice old dining room. The house has interesting furniture and archetectural details.
This is a lovely B&B on the edge of the busy part of Mahone Bay. The location is perfect one can walk to the post office, or to the many local shops and there are several places to eat that are a short walk. So many thoughtful details here-from the tissue boxes with Adirondack chairs on them to the candies by the bedside, to the water bottles and both ceiling fan and air conditioner. As stated by so many, the breakfast is amazing, and varied—the smoked salmon is perfection, and the jam selection is varied and delicious. This was an ideal choice for the start of my vacation.
Arrived late Saturday night , but Michael was here to greet us. Our bedroom was charming and spacious. Thomas made the most incredible breakfast..not to mention the beauty of his dining table setting. I didn’t want to leave. We were treated like royalty. Highly recommend this B&B.
During our stay at Fairmont House Bed and Breakfast at Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, we were reminded of the time when the business title meant that breakfast was included. This was certainly not our experience with all but one of the Airbnb’s we’ve visited, where it’s buy it yourself, prepare it yourself or you’re out of luck at breakfast. We were looking for an alternative, and happily found the Fairmount House Bed and breakfast. Let us tell you how it went. Firstly, the Fairmont House’s website is effortless to navigate and selecting our room was easy. The site also includes a link to a YouTube drone video of the house and gorgeous surrounding area. Being foodies with dreams of running a bed and breakfast, we were impressed with being presented home-made banana bread, jams, eggs done to perfection, smoked salmon (not kidding – smoked salmon, luxurious salmon, I mean c’mon), fresh coffee or tea. All presented with linen napkins in a beautifully decorated dining room, the hosts creating a warm, casual, pet-friendly atmosphere. Having two cats, we left those savages at home (with a sitter … relax) but had the good fortune of having breakfast in the company of a well-mannered, cute as a button chocolate lab … (the owners were nice too, they asked if it was okay to include their pet in the dining room). Restricting our social interactions these days, we appreciated the limited number of guests occupying the three rooms. So … how to sum this up? Anyone wanting a B&B where you have a BEAUTIFUL room in a gorgeous home from the mid-19th century (with a view to match), professional and welcoming hosts, a breakfast that would make most fine restaurants green with envy, well need we say more … this home stands as a template of what all Airbnb’s should try to be (frankly, if they can get halfway there, it’ll likely be a big improvement).…
We stayed here for Valentine's Day in 2021, and it is one of the best B&Bs in the region. Breakfast was offered warm or cold, and upstairs room had the added amenity of neighbouring library/table and fridge room. The paintings in the room were actually of English Bay in BC, which is where we spent last year's V-Day, so I left a gift in the library to let them know of the coincidence (if they find it). Stay here if you can!
Michael and Thomas were gracious hosts for our unexpected stay. They were very accommodating, providing a tour of the rooms so we could chose what we preferred. They assisted by providing dining information. The breakfast exceeded our expectations, including variety, quality and outstanding service. When we forgot a sentimental item in the room, Michael was quick to forward it to us; carefully wrapped and with a most thoughtful card. Frequent travelers, we were delighted with our serendipitous stay.
What a gem of a place. Prime location right across from the harbour on the Main Street in Mahone Bay. Very well kept old Victorian house. The rooms had nice bedding and were cleaned well. Everything was provided that you may need in the room or bathroom. The owner is a sweetheart. This was a first time staying in a smaller B&B and won’t be a last. There is a certain extra given in minor details. Breakfast the following morning was perfect. We had many options and settled on fresh pancakes with blueberries and yoghurt. The coffee also was perfect, being a coffee snob that’s a very important criteria for me :)
Where to start! We were so looking forward our yearly trip to Nova Scotia. One of the highlight lodgings we were most looking forward to on this trip was the Fairmont House B&B. Unfortunately things took a bad turn when the business closed and then the Canadian govt locked its borders to the US which of course canceled our travel plans against our wishes. Its unfortunate but understandable, and there is always next year. We quickly received contact from all of the other B&B's, hotels, airlines and car rental agencies,... everyone we booked with and were given full refunds for the lodgings and car, and in the case of the airlines were given full vouchers to use later once the borders reopened. Except no contact from Fairmont House. We tried to reach out to Fairmont House several times to find out what their plans were and left voice mails, but they have never answered their phone or returned calls. We then called Travelocity as that was where the stay was booked through and they also tried calling many times but could get no answer or response. After some months of being ignored, trying many times to get in touch with Fairmont House B&B to find out what other arrangements could be made, there was still no response! Today we finally heard that they sent a message to Travelocity claiming WE decided to cancel our trip and that they were not going to issue a voucher or refund or anything of the kind. We visit often as we are shopping for homes to move to the Mahone bay area, now they have lost my many potential future visits and certainly my respect, which is unfortunate seeing as how we will soon be neighbors! I am so very disappointed in how they treated us, especially since everyone else was so apologetic and understanding that their government and businesses shut down on us and that this was not our decision in the least. We will definitely be sending our money back to the other companies as soon as Canada allows us, and for as many times as it takes for us to find and purchase a home. The only thing I will be sending to Fairmont House is an in person visit to voice my displeasure since they refuse to speak with us on the telephone. STAY AWAY! Best to spend your hard earned money with any of the other fine establishments that will make sure to treat you well, and there are MANY other choices besides this one.…
