We walked down the stony narrow road to find a wonderful little restaurant next to the lighthouse. The views are amazing. While we were there Darcy, the chef, was presented with a plaque of appreciation from the squadron for his support. Quite exciting seeing a Sea King Helicopter at close range. The restaurant is very clean and while the menu...

The reviews are accurate. This is an unique remote location with an amazing view and excellent food. There are a couple of steep sections on the wide and well maintained gravel road leading the parking lot followed by a steep 200 m track that I didn't feel comfortable driving on with a rented car. The host Darcy and his parents...

I stumbled upon this amazing place while exploring the area from Amherst to Advocate Harbour and beyond. The section of gravel road you must travel on is a bit rough in places but I drive a Mazda 3 and did not hit the bottom at all. The steep walk down the hill to the lighthouse and kitchen is well worth...

Getting to the Cape D'Or Lighthouse, like many of Nova Scotia's attractions was on a steep, winding, gravel, pot-holed road, but the views from the ridge line, the path down, and at the Lighthouse made the work getting there worth it. The food at the little cafe was also excellent, hearty fare with great desserts. Bring your hiking shoes .

My fiancé and I spent a night at the lighthouse and it was fantastic. The room itself was quaint and basic but everything else more than made up for it. The dinner prepared by Garfield was excellent and the morning breakfast was delicious. But you simply can not beat the setting. It's stunning and gorgeous and feels like an entirely...

I stayed here with my sister for two nights. The views from the cottage are gorgeous and the somewhat remote location adds to the charm. For those reasons the steep uphill climb to the parking lot is completely worth it. In addition to the excellent location, the rooms were very clean and the staff were warm and friendly. The only...

We stopped here to see a lighthouse and found a nice little cafe there run by and older gentleman his wife and son. They also featured accomidations. To reach the lighthouse you have to travel to the top of a cliff and then follow the signs on foot ( a few hundred feet downhill). They were set up for dinner...

The road out to Cape d'Or from the main road might be daunting to some people, but it is very well worth it - the views out at the cape are simply spectacular!! I'm from the east coast of Canada (Newfoundland) and this is one of the best lighthouse locations I've ever come across. It is excellent!

Cape d'Ór is reached by driving west from Truro on Hwy 2 to Parrsboro, then taking 209 until the road winds to an end at Advocate Harbour. Then take the gravel road over the headland. The route is well sign-posted. The road is good for most vehicles, but low clearance cars may have difficulties in some spots. The lighthouse can...

Very simple place but can't beat the location. Clean and in good shape. Darcy is very accommodating and friendly. It's down a long dirt/gravel road to get there but that makes for even a better seclusion. Can't beat the views! I will stay again the next time I'm in the area.

Thank Derek K
