The location and history of this inn make it special, and the adventure starts wth the 30-minute boat ride out from Quirpon dock. The sea was high and the swell round Cape Bauld was huge, but Ed handled the zodiac expertly. My room was in the main building and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable, the shower excellent, and...

This is truly a once in a lifetime experience! Not that I would not go again because if I ever go back to Newfoundland it will be on my list! The whole experience from going by zodiac from the mainland to the island to going out whale watching and going around the iceberg was simply amazing! Ed is a very...

This place has been a dream of mine for a long time. I think in many ways it met each different element I was hoping for and in some ways it surpassed many more. The people who keep the Inn on the straight and narrow are wonderful people and deserve a special nod. They are kind, welcoming and a pleasure...

We had a very interesting and enjoyable couple of days at Quirpon Island and, apart from the weather, it was absolutely as described. Whales, icebergs and sea-birds abound and there are some good walks even if the going is a bit tough in places. The staff were excellent and the meals home cooked and plentiful. Luxury it isn't - and...

This is a unique place to stay. Our room was in the original lighthouse cottage. It is rustic but comfortable. Our rooms were good. We shared a bathroom with the friends we were traveling with. It was large with plenty of towels etc. provided. You are treated like family and gather for local recipe delicious dinner around the table with...

The wild splendour of sea and rock, amazing caretakers, cooks and guides and sense of being truly away from it all combined to make an unbelievable holiday. Wilderness guide owner Ed English regales you with stories courageous and funny. Go kayaking with him for a great chance at encountering whales or dolphins.

My family and I travelled to Quirpon Island as part of our Newfoundland family vacation. We arrived June 22 and stayed 2 nights. There were 12 of us and we stayed in the smaller guest house. The entire experience was fabulous. I would highly recommend ( and already have numerous times) this destination. The accommodations were very clean and every...

We enjoyed the remote location, the occasional whale spotting and the communal style of the dinners. It was a nice way to meet new people and have some quality time in nature. That being said, traveling all the way to Quirpon to stay in an "authentic lightkeepers house" only to find out we were actually staying in another house down...

We stayed at the Inn on August 1. Our boat ride to the island produced a whale breaching for us to the thrill of the guests. Our arrival was warmly greeted with coffee, tea and sweets. It was very foggy during our stay so whale watching was not possible. However we enjoyed a fabulous pan fried cod meal and a...

We spent 4 nights in the rustic splendour of the Inn. Whales every day. A family of foxes 20 metres from our door. Icebergs sailing by. Splendid Newfoundland home cooking around a communal table (cod, trout, beef, Jiggs dinner). Hiking on virtually a private island 10k long. Kayaking in the ocean. Remains of 2,000 year old sod huts. Leave your...
