We had a private room that included a tv with a common bathroom right across the hall. The volunteer staff were friendly. We walked to everything touristy except the big lighthouse. Kitchen had lots of room for our food and cooking, although the dining table was a bit small. Laundry room is available but costs extra.

After our stay at the excellent, clean, and wonderful Skerwink hostel, visiting Bonavista Hostel was a disappointment. We did not see the host of the hostel until the morning we left when we needed to pay, and it was even unclear she was the host. The bed was nothing compared to our previous night at Skerwink. It was missing some... More

We stayed with our 21 year old son 5 years ago. Todd & Donna were very helpful and fun.Todd regaled us re: his wind turbine story ..the vendor was from California and asked him if Bonavista NFLD have enough wind? Todd's response... Oh ya... we got the wind. We laughed and laughed. Todd is a great story teller. Donna and... More

It's a nice and clean hostel, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, 3 bathrooms. I came in September, off season, so not many people staying here. Bonavista is a nice town to stay in, you can walk anywhere from the hostel and there are bicycles in the shed for you to use for free. It was a nice and pleasant stay,... More

We stayed at this hostel for 3 nights in mid August. The hostel was fairly nice with a large cooking space and multiple bathrooms. The rooms are fairly big too but the bed that we had could use replacing as we were able to feel the springs. However we had a tv in the room and fast internet service. The... More

I've been to this hostel 3 times, and I'm always pleasantly surprised by how clean, quiet, and relaxed the hostel is. I keep coming back. While it isn't the mega-size HI hostels usually are, it no way diminishes the quality of the building. As another reviewer said, it feels more like a cozy b&b. And I don't mean cozy in... More

While driving and hiking around the Bonavista peninsula in early September 2012, my girlfriend and I were looking, last minute, for a place to lay our heads without paying for a pricey B&B. Although we were content with camping we found that camp sites in the area were slim and still rather pricey so as the weather turned cool we... More

Nice hostel, more like a cosy B&B as this place is tiny compared to other Hi Hostels. The rooms were a nice size, clean and tidy, as we're the bathrooms. The kitchen area is good and there is a computer for Internet and wifi. Donna was very helpful even when we arrived at 9pm. She also runs a taxi company... More

The owners Todd and Donna could not have been more helpful. The hostel is clean and comfortable with great facilities like free wifi and bikes, wind powered electricity, fantastic. It is well located in the town. Todd runs the shuttle from St John's and is a wonderful story teller. I recommend this hostel to everyone.

“In my experience, shared rooms here are rarely full. I've only every shared it with one other person, and twice I was by myself. I think Bonavista is still a place backpackers haven't quite discovered yet, otherwise they'd be coming here in droves. If you're traveling alone, it's more affordable to use the shared rooms instead of a private, as the shared spaces are generally pretty quiet and empty.”
