If you are looking for something other than the basic modern hotel... and want something that is a lot artsy, definitely different, and edgy.........give this hotel a try... even if for just a few days while you get your bearings in Mount Lavinia. We stayed two nights with this delightful host from France who is happy to share the story...

The House of Arts was an interesting, quirky place to stay and had friendly staff. My room itself was basic but comfortable and there was a good supply of hot water in the bathroom. It was concerning that, when I arrived, the owner didn't have any knowledge of my booking. While this didn't turn out to be a problem as...

Writing this review on my last morning of a two night stay. Very satisfied with the House of Arts. It's a quirky old building full of interesting ephemera, paintings and furniture. Sammy is a very laid back character and the staff and family who work here very polite and courteous. The rooms are a bit basic but good enough for...

Such a surprize when we came to know this place belongs to Sammy Pavel.A famous film director. If you have a taste for antique pieces, visit this place for sure. Very friendly host and a lovely stay ! Beach and city both have close proximity. Would definitely recommend this place.

House of Arts is run by Sammy, a film director. Its well decorated as a boutique place. i would recommend one demerit which is the infrastucture, that could be enhanced by investing some money. Its best for couples travelling to Colombo, also located in one of the best places of colombo !

as the name suggests, it's a quaint, artsy sort of place; the room, however, was atrocious; dirty mosquito netting replete with holes, thin mattress, a door without a doorknob that couldn't be locked from the outside, poor wifi, and a pungent smell that eventually got on one's nerves. i guess most travelers are too enamored of the look and feel...

I stayed at The House of Arts during a weekend trip to Sri Lanka. I was traveling alone and wanted clean, basic accommodations by the Mount Lavinia beach. The House of Arts provides exactly that, in a unique setting and with very friendly hosts. The owner, Samy Pavel, is a film director and keeps the venue decorated with a mix...

The House of Arts was the perfect place to spend the first and last nights of my trip. Close to Colombo, short walk to the beach, plenty of shops and food close by. Our room was clean and comfortable. I loved the style, lots of art and books, and painted flourishes. The big ridgeback named Bruce keeps watch and barks...
