Barbara and her young family have built their own wooden chalet (from a Finnish flat pack) in the quiet village of Haegen to provide two en-suite rooms, simply furnished but very functional. There is one local restaurant (walking distance, welcoming, typically Alsatian) and access on foot to a forested ridge. She has good local knowledge and all the maps you...

Spent two nights with Barbara at Bois Dore, a charming B&B in Haegen, just outside Saverne in Alsace. The view from her breakfast window is spectacular. Even better perhaps are her home baked breads and jams which she makes sure are ready for guests at Breakfast. Her daughters are as pleasant as she is, although intimidated by our English language....

We stayed four nights at Bois Dore and found it ideal to walk in the hills and visit the castle overlooking this valley. It is also very close to Saverne with the lovely rose gardens. We also toured the Route de Vin that we missed the last time when the weather was just so sunny and pleasant. On another day,...

This is a modern wooden chalet in a residential area of this Alsatian village. As with many B&Bs, the best thing about it is the people. Barbara and her children couldn't be nicer. Their eco lifestyle is pronounced but entirely civilised - the wood-burning stove is a thing of some technical sophistication. You are really taken into the family and...

Barbara and her family have a lovely wooden house, deep in Alsace, en route to so many wonderful places. Her eco house, and organic, homemade breakfasts, as well as her hospitality, made our stay there this AUgust absolutely wonderful. She's got two lovely children that got along well with mine, and I appreciated having keys to come and go as...

We stayed here on two separate stays at this lovely b and b. We used the downstairs double room and the bed was so big and comfortable, the best on our four week holiday. Excellent breakfast, on the verandah if it's nice weather. Kettle, fridge, wifi available. Saverne is a pretty area and this is about four miles out of...

We stayed two nights and had a picnic and hike, The breakfasts and picnics were wonderful, and the entire family is gracious and welcoming. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station in Saverne, and we were fine not having a car during our stay. We found everything that we needed in the village. Highly recommended...

We had an excellent stay at le Bois Doré. Very warm welcome, help with whatever you might need, great room and even better breakfast. A very nice place and family to spend some time off. We stayed there during our return trip from Italy and will certainly do so again next time.
