Easy To Find, But Hard To Leave! That's the story for this entire mountain area of Alleghany County, located in the northwest mountains of North Carolina. The Alleghany Inn is located in Sparta, North Carolina, just four miles from the New River (second oldest river in the world) and seven miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. As you can see, Alleghany Inn is the place to be!
We stayed at Alleghany Inn many years ago. Recently when going to Sparta for a funeral we stayed there again. I have to admit I was worried because I know it is an older facility but I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and well-maintained. My only complaint is that there were only three servings of coffee in the room and one was a flavored coffee; and the pillows were way too soft. That said, the beds were comfortable, staff was professional and the hot water was hot!.

We stayed one night, we had 6 rooms, bicyclist riding thru, John the manager called after we had left. We forgot one of our coolers, John made a special trip and met us off of 77 as we were shuttling south to our next destination to give our cooler back!

Very nice & clean. Great coffee in lobby. My mattress was a little on the firm side. Softest towels I've used in a long time!!!! The fridge and microwave worked well. Shower pressure and temp were great. I would definitely stay here again. Restaurants close by.

Very comfortable bed! Had a coffee pot in the room which I love! Close to downtown - onsite restaurant shut down - tavern next to it though. Recommend staying here but know where you’re going to eat - may need to drive there. There are comment cards in the rooms. They are interested in knowing about your experience. Very friendly staff!

Garden variety roadside motel; don't look for luxury, but very clean and comfortable, with friendly clerk at the desk. For the price, hard to beat. Only negative was a VERY SLIGHT smell of stale tobacco smoke in our non-smoking room when we first arrived, but the smell disappeared entirely with the running of the A/C for a few minutes. Would stay here again.

The Inn owner John, arranged a nice 3 day Golf package for our group of 20. We played 3 courses, all with in a 30 minute drive. Our accommodations at the Inn were very good. The rooms were clean, beds are comfortable and quiet. We had access to a conference room for evening gatherings and a covered outside area where we grilled on Wednesday after golf. Everyone in Sparta was really nice and it’s a beautiful area. Our group will return next year which consisted mostly retired corporate executives. Sometimes simple things in life are more fun!

The Alleghany Inn's owner John and his staff were fantastic! We had a very large group who took up 50 rooms in the Inn. We had a Poker Run to raise money for FRAXA, a research foundation who are working to find a cure for Fragile X Syndrome. This was the 16th year we have held this fundraiser weekend and it was our most successful one. I can't say enough about how awesome this gem of a hotel is and what a perfect setting it was for our event! John and his staff set up tables, chairs and tents for us to use and helped us find caters. It was truly a magical weekend! Magical was the word we heard all weekend long! Can't wait to hold our event here next year and for many years to come! Just perfect!! Can't recommend this hotel enough to anyone who is looking for a place to hold their event. Great hotel. Great little mountain town. Very nice people.…

The check in was with one of the sweetest most helpful Hotel employees i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. (40 years on the road) The room was clean comfortable and had every thing i needed. The internet was super quick. There was a microwave, fridge and quiet A/C The location is on Main Street in the beautifully quaint town of Sparta NC. I was doing a job at the local hospital and the hotel was very near.

Incredibly friendly staff who were able to get me checked in early and upgraded to an even better room. The rooms are extremely spacious and immaculately clean. But the best part is the super comfy beds and linens. What a cozy and lovely hotel for an excellent price point. I'll use this place every time I come to the area.
