We had a lovely stay at Jacobs Creek Retreat. It's a romantic space with a beautiful garden. I have to make a shout out to Jerry - although contactless check in was offered we ran into him on the grounds and he explained the history of the space to us which was wonderful. Furthermore, we unfortunately had a little bad luck during our trip and dropped our cheese platter on the ground (smashing the plates and all) Jerry was so lovely, he came running to check up on us when he heard the smash, he was much more worried about us than the plates and he even gifted us a cheese as a replacement!!!! No major hotel would be providing above and beyond service like this. Thank you!
The cottage was delightful, and extremely well-appointed with lots of lovely touches to make it feel special. The gardens and pool area are just beautiful, making it a real oasis to relax in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it - whilst there isn't a restaurant on site as mentioned in other reviews, there are plenty within a few minutes' easy drive and it wasn't an issue at all for us. Would go back any time!
This was a very nice getaway that allowed for an overnight stay in the Barossa. The historic and well restored grounds provide several private accommodation options, all with great character but still with enough modern amenities to make it a comfortable stay. The grounds are beautiful, and there is a pool and bbq area. The only issue may be the lack of dining options on site, but there are plenty of those in the Barossa and surrounds a short drive away. Unfortunately our schedule didn’t allow to sample the winery right next door – next time. There is no on-site reception but an envelope left for us provided all of the information we needed to get access and enjoy our stay, and a contact number is provided should any issues arise. Definitely not a family option, but for couples it is perfect and recommended.…
Had a lovely stay at Jacobs Creek Retreat. So welcoming and very relaxing with beautiful tranquil gardens and pool. Very cosy loft suite that had everything we needed. We highly recommend this place. Just a shame there is no restaurant but you're really not far away from everything. Would definitely stay again!
The grounds were beautifully presented (with some areas still a work in progress) and the pool immaculate albeit a bit cold along with the weather when we visited. Rooms had everything we needed although some more clear surface to put items (including when preparing breakfast) would be helpful. We will visit again.
Cannot speak highly enough of this place, we had planned our wedding there and due to COVID our friends could not attend, however we went ahead anyway and the venue is stunning! We were spoilt for choice of places to conduct the ceremony. The cottages are warm and cosy and Jerry is absolutely wonderful, he could not have done enough to help us and make our day special. We will certainly be back in better times! Steve and Gai
The property and gardens are amazing we stayed in Fushia Cotage and it is charming and cosy as per pictures. Jerry was very welcoming heater was on when we arrived and Bottle of complimentary sparkling was appreciated. The spa is amazing and the ambience of the Cotage just what we were hoping for romantic and welcoming. Next time we have to stay in spring or summer to enjoy all what the property has to offer. Amazing rose garden, beautiful pool and winery right next door😉👍just perfect. I can highly recommend this accommodation 🙂
apologies for the late review, but just havent gotten around to it. I;ll keep it short and sweet- not what we were expecting after staying at the Waybourne Vineyard near melbourne. Firstly on check in- at 15.00 , no one was at recetion. On ringing my husband was told an envelope was in the mail box at the entrance. Apparently the key was left in the door of our room - which it wasnt. This meant we coulndnt secure the romm if we went out! Room itself was very nice as was the bathroom. We took a walk around the retreat and it was completely deserted, and rather disappointing. The grounds were messy and the pool area was green with algae . We drove into town and bought ourselves somefood- depite the website saying we could order a cold platter. That was not forthcoming. We only stayed the night which was enough. The electric had cut out overnight and we were unable to use the shower in the morning .Quite frankly we were that fed up we decided to pack up and leave without seeing if anyone was around or to see if breakfast was available. Quite frankly one of the worst places we have stayed - I'd avoid…
Stayed in the 'Courtbarn' during a overnight trip and it was wonderful. The barn and other cottages are all old, but we were amazed at the care and attention to detail provided to ensure we would be happy at the retreat. The grounds are spectacular and I believe there are only 7 cottages on site which means there is a lot of privacy if that's what you're looking for. We enjoyed some wine and cheese in the evening near the pool area and listened to the birds. It was incredibly peaceful. I've noticed other posts make comment on the condition of the pool in the past - it was pristine during our stay. The rose garden was very pretty and we enjoyed a tasting session (very private) at Moorooroo Winery which is adjacent to the retreat. Our cottage had everything you could want for. The fridge was stocked with breakfast items, furniture/decor was lovely and our bed was super comfy with good quality sheeting/pillows. The barn/cottage is old so lights were switched on via ceiling cord and the stairs up to the bedroom are old but add character to the place. We were very impressed by the bathroom. It was modern with a massive two person shower and a beautiful bathtub. Towels/bathrobes/slippers were all there waiting for us after a day of tasting wines. The Courtbarn was very romantic (candles provided) and we would certainly recommend this to any couple(s) looking for a bit of a get away. There is no manangement on site but a contact number is provided if necessary (seriously you won't need reception it's all provided for you before you arrive). We did meet Jerry (manager) when we were leaving the following morning - thanks Jerry for checking in on us . we lived our stay and will definately be back. …
Booked for 3 nights hoping to stay at retreat??? Paid $400 per night. Was so bad we only stayed one night and then left. The pool was thick soupy green with algae. The whole advertisement on Booking.com revolves around the crystal clear blue swimming pool. The lady ‘Chris’ who runs the place (but conveniently absent) stated the pool was safe to swim in. After all... she said... when she was young she grew up on a farm and it was nothing to swim in a dam with a dead sheep in the water on the other side. Frankly I’d rather take my chances in her dam. The whole place was totally run down. The breakfast was very average and there was no one at the property to help with anything. To add insult to injury she refused to give us a refund! SO DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
