I stay here every time I go to the Outer Banks. It's a small family owned motel. No frills but clean and friendly. Great location not far from the beach and fishing piers and you can cook your catch onsite.

In hindsight I agree with most of the reviews I read. This motel would be ideal for someone who doesn't plan to spend a lot of time in the room. The room I stayed in needs work. The nightstand had drill holes in it, a lot of the fixtures have chipped paint and need to be replaced. Overall, the motel...

Lodging for the area was affordable in peak season at 112.00 for two queen beds per taxes per night. Beds seemed more like full size beds. When we checked in, our room smelled very musty. Either we got used to it or going in and out aired out the room. Room was pretty clean, candy papers behind the only small...

We made reservations here because our favorite place had no rooms. I have stayed here before but it was 15-20 years ago. We knew it was a "bare bones" type of place BUT it needs a lot of work. The location is great & they do have a pool. Upon entering the room we notice a lot of flies (probably...

I wish I had known of all these issues before you left. Had I known of the fly and bug issues you would have been moved that first night. I am glad to hear you were offered a different room the next morning and am sorry you chose not to take us up on it.

I stay here every year and every year the motel improves! Nice rooms, great staff, and a great location. If you are on a budget you cannot get a better deal than the Tar Heel. It is not the Ritz, but doesn't pretend to be. It is a safe, well run beach motel at extremely affordable prices. Beach access is...

Baby boomer throwback. This is an old family run motel that has served vacationers and fishermen for generations. You can park next to your room and walk across the street to the public beach access or walk across the highway to the rear and be at Tanger outlets. The national seashore is a few minutes drive to the south. Water...

Stayed three nights this month for a charter out of Oregon Inlet. Super nice staff, clean, AC CRANKED!! Good water pressure, and close to both Pirate's Cove and Oregon Inlet marinas. Walking distance to Sam & Omie's (do the fish cake breakfast, OMG). Beds were firm and comfortable. This is an old school motel, no central lobby, no bar, etc....

We do love our fishermen, especially when you guys share your catch! We look forward to having you back soon.

Old but very nicely maintained. Awesome location, just block away from beach and all major restaurants, water activity centre and shopping mall in walking distance. Friendly staff. Took a single bed room, room and bathroom were bit cramped, but unless you are here for honey moon, good stay for family vacation. Worth coming next time.

Great place to stay, clean rooms, friendly staff and close to everything on the outer banks. Second time staying this year and very satisfied. Also took a family vacation in August and stayed a week. We had a great time and was very pleased with our room. Very reasonable rates. We will definitely be back.

The motel is very close to the beach and the owner is nice. Our room had a good size but the bathroom could be a cleaner. The whole furniture is very old and we had mold (or something that looked like it) on the bed. All in all, it is okay to stay there for a short time. I would...
