The Cypress Moon Inn rests on the shore of The Albemarle Sound In Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks of NC. The Inn has no immediate neighbors and is a quiet place. All of the guest rooms overlook the sound. You can access the soundfront porch directly from your room where you have a table and chairs, loveseat and chair and a hammock swing chair. The porch is a great place to view wildlife, the sunset ,relax and read as well as have your breakfast. The maritime forest that surrounds The Inn is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The birdwatching is great. We provide bicycles and kayaks for your use and a pier and deck to access the sound here at The Inn.The bottom of the sound here is a sandy one. The waters of the sound are clean, generally calm and great for watersports. Golf courses are nearby the Inn. The Atlantic Ocean Beach is 1.5 miles away with free and ample parking. There are over 100 miles of beach here with half of that being undeveloped within The Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The Outer Banks are home to The Wright Brothers National Memorial, 19th century lighthouses and lifesaving stations, the first attempt at an English colony, the wild horses of Corolla and vast wildlife refuges. The fishing is world famous. You may also go surfing, kiteboarding, windsurfing and hangliding. Lessons are available for all of these activities. I can not say enough about the Cypress Moon Inn we loved it. From the warm welcome to all the extras and the beautiful location we can not wait to come back. The views of the milk way at night without light pollution on the night is amazing. the room was large and comfortable. the location is away from the noise but perfectly located to the beaches.

This location is quiet and peaceful for the PERFECT get away! Only minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Kitty Hawk. Greg and Linda have done a great job with this inn, it is beautiful, a home away from home. The rooms are large and comfy. There is a deck off your room and the view is amazing. My only knock would be for a larger tv. It had a small tube TV. A larger flat screen (wall mounted?) would be nice, but that will not stop0 me from staying there again.

The Cypress Moon Inn is 3-5 minutes from the highway but is in a whole different world. Surrounded by cypress wood sand sitting on the water, it is a through-back to earlier times in terms of wood construction and mid 20th century antiques. Each room on the 3 floors have access the the wrap around balconies where one can sit and watch a truly magnificent sunset. There is a warf out to a dock where you can swim if so inclined. The owners Greg and Linda are incredibly friendly and helpful. Getting back to highway opens up a huge selection restaurants, and shops. You choose. Everything you could want is within a 10 minute drove - Duck a bit longer. Highly recommend.

Stayed here solo for 2 nights. My room was very very nice. Bedding and decor were superior. Best sleep in a long time. The view, the quiet location on the Sound, cannot be beat. The owner was very friendly and personable. However..... this B&B should give itself over to being an Inn. Not a “B and B”. The “breakfast” is a tray that arrives the afternoon prior. Mine consisted of 2 not very good muffins, 3 pcs of so-so fruit and 2 foil packs of coffee for the tiny coffee machine on the bathroom sink. Accompanied w a bowl of half and half creamers and a note to “shake them before using. I asked about a kettle for tea and was advised that water could be run thru the coffee maker. I don’t believe it is the proprietor’s intent to be stingy etc, only that they don’t see anything wrong with this. (I know that I could have complained, but when one has driven far to get to a destination vacation, one doesn’t want to spend time tracking down ppl about muffins and brown bananas). Also, the owner would do well to clear out some clutter in the main room and lessen the use of incense burning sticks. This is a wonderful location on the Sound and with just a few adjustments to either the product or description, they would probably save a lot of travellers’ disappointments or headaches on their part.

Response from Greg H, Owner at Cypress Moon Inn

Thank you for staying with us. We now serve a continental breakfast due to changes in the NC Dept of health rules. We are no longer allowed to prepare food. I will take exception with the quality of the food. We are careful to select the best things we can find. We do not serve overripe bananas. i eat all of those which are actually at the point of ripeness. We have thousands of satisifed guests that have visited over the 20 years. Many return. This reviewer is one of a tiny group who has dissapointments and or a headache. We cannot please everyone. We do however please 97% of our guests.

A quaint B & B with a wonderful view overlooking the sound from the upper deck of our room. The room was clean and the owners were very nice and accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful. This was also my husband's birthday weekend. The whole experience made our much needed, overdue getaway very relaxing.
