This hotel was not your typical TownePlace Suites. The lobby was on the 2nd floor and I will say the lobby was beautiful. The front desk associate wasn’t the friendliest. The only thing she pointed out was where breakfast was the next morning & the beach access which was just a crosswalk. Most front desk associates explain where the pool is, where the fitness center is, etc. The next night we stopped by the market area to get ice cream. There was a sign on the door that the freezer wasn’t working so there were no frozen foods. The guy at the front desk never looked up from his phone. We booked a one bedroom king suite with an ocean view. The ocean view was only visible from the bedroom window. The big windows in the living area faced either what they called an inland view or a partíal ocean view which would be a stretch! There is a sleep sofa in the living area which is the size of a love seat. One cushion was flatter than the other which made sitting together uncomfortable. The bedroom door wouldn’t stay open. My husband had to put something in it to keep it open. The shower door wouldn’t stay closed!! It seemed like the room wasn’t level. What really got me was how dirty the floor was. I kicked off my shoes as I started to unpack and couldn’t believe how dirty the bottom of my feet were. I switched to socks which I threw away upon check out.

This hotel can't be a Marriott. It’s dirty, smells and the staff is rude and unprofessional. The hotel is over-run by so many dogs everywhere – the public areas, the breakfast food area, hallways, elevators, the rooms and the dogs bark all night. Trash is over-flowing from public area trash cans inside the hotel and outside. A group staying at the hotel partied all night with loud music – this with the barking dogs all night was unbelievable. Reported to the front desk twice. They couldn’t be bothered. The hotel was poorly built – you can hear every sound and footstep.

Breakfast was awesome, cleaning staff overwhelmed, front desk folks are not friendly and will feed you lies. Clean rooms forget about it. This place is poorly managed. AND clothes were left in the room from the previous guest, a lot of clothes!!! I had 2 rooms for 6 nights....

I was worried about booking reservations at this hotel due to some very negative reviews by other customers. But, since I had a great experience with TownePlace in Burlington, Vermont, I decided to take a chance. It is a lovely facility. It is clean and well-kept. The staff is nice. My room is spacious. It has two queen beds, an armchair, an eating table with four chairs, a full kitchenette, a spacious closet, a television set mounted on the wall, and a sparkling bathroom. The showers are especially great, with strong water pressure, eucalyptus shampoo, lemon conditioner, and lemon body gel which smell heavenly. I do not want to come out from the showers! The kitchenette is super because even plates, pots, pans, mugs, and utensils are provided. The refrigerator is almost full-size. There is a toaster and Keurig coffee maker. Paper towels, soaps for hand washing, detergents for the dishwasher, pot holders, terry cloths for drying plates and all the comforts of home are included. Two barbecue grills are available for customers. Steaks can be grilled here! There is an exercise room and indoor swimming pool. Few people use them. Breakfast is ample. There is a range of foods from omelettes to sausages to cereals to muffins. The ladies keep replenishing so there are no shortages. Other hotels, however, provide even more choices and varieties which result in sumptuous breakfasts that start the day on the right foot. There is no housekeeping due to Covid-19. It is not troublesome for me because I prefer the absence of people in my room even in normal times. Towels, soaps, and other amenities can be requested at the front desk. The staff is accommodating and friendly. The beach is within a few hundred yards across the hotel. You cross over to the other side, walk along the road for a few hundred yards, and turn left to the beach access. The magnificent Atlantic Ocean, graceful pelicans, busy plovers, and screeching seagulls await. There are many parking spots. My humble Honda SUV is parked between a Range Rover and Mercedes SUV one night. The following morning, I see Audis and BMWs. It is a good location. Harris Teeter Supermarket, Food Lion Supermarket, and gas stations are close by. Drives to Ocracoke Island, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and Roanoke Island are within easy driving ranges.

This property is a disaster. From the dirty bathroom to the horrible customer service, do yourself a favor and stay far way. As a longtime Marriott Titanium Elite member, this property has made me question my loyalty to the brand.
