Stayed one night while working. Easy access to the beach. Rooms are dated and funky. Great for spring break not so much families. Why do hotels call some cheap prepackaged muffins and warm coffee a free breakfast? Spend a little more and stay at the chains up the road if you're with the family. By myself it was adequate.

This is an economical spot right on the beach. The rooms are clean, comfortable and enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Management, however, is a bit tone deaf. We made are reservations months ago for spring break with a credit card at about $20/day above current price. Issues include: 1) pool was closed for repair, other hotels pools...

Thanks for your feedback. We are continuing to work to improve our guest experience - including major work every offseason. This year we did major upgrades to pool area, with new pool furniture to showcase soon as well! We don't open the pool typically until mid May, and are careful to disclose that to April renters - though with this...

Staff was very nice, professional and accommodating, quickly taking care of our issues (stopped up sink), breakfast was average, but no place to eat, breakfast room was closed, food served in lobby. Room smelled of smoke when first entered, needed to go and personally buy Fabreeze, walls are paper thin, we could hear the normal level conversation in the adjoining...

Thanks for your feedback. 100% of our guest rooms are non-smoking, so there should be no smoking odor at all. We offer complete guest satisfaction and would have been happy to move you to another guest room. We also offer 2 of our 4 building that don't allow pets so hopefully next time you stay with us we can put...

We decided to take a weekend trip to OBX and stayed at the John Yancey Inn. The price was very reasonable and the hotel is quaint. We stayed in room 105 it appeared to be remodeled and was very clean. The staff was friendly so I couldn't complain there. The only downside was things the hotel could not control like...

Thanks for your feedback. We are continuing to renovate all our guest rooms, with all rooms having new carpets in the last 3 years. We definitely recommend the oceanfront rooms in Four Seasons Building and Sea Building which offer unobstructed ocean views! Look forward to having you back. Jeff

I was going to stay at the hotel which was listed as pet friendly and didn't say anything about a fee. I expressed to the hotel clerk my dissatisfaction with this but said I'd sign the form and work it out with the booking agent. When I went to the room, I left my dog in the car as I...

I've stayed at the John Yancey twice now. The location of the hotel and the price has attracted us, but my husband and I decided we will never stay again. The room is damp, smells mildew-y, is very small, and the bathroom awful. The bathroom is poorly maintained, and is very tiny. A pipe burst while we were staying the...

We came for a long weekend off season,in February. They are pet friendly, a big plus for us. The staff was efficient and friendly. The room was oceanfront and pretty nice. The bed was very comfortable and the place was clean. Great view of the ocean. Overall, we have no complaints and would recommend to anyone.

Rooms were nice, could use some renovations, front desk staff very helpful, 24hr coffee.free breakfast is ok. Oceanfront rooms in main building are the best, you can just walk out onto the beach! Overall good.

I chose this place for its location and the fact that it accepts dogs. Beach was easy-access from *all* of the rooms (most do not face the ocean). The room I had was... efficient. Most of the things I prefer in a hotel room were there, and well organized to maximize space usage. Which freed up space next to the...

Not only did the staff argue with Trip Advisor at 11:45 pm when I arrived, especially when the Trip Advisor clerk told the fellow, Josh, they show a charge of one night's advance booking. He also proceeded to make a big deal of saying that the General Manager would contact me while the one's night charges were pending. Nobody contacted...
