I should mention that I'm a UW-Madison Alum, and since the owners (and their son) went there, I may be a bit biased...nevertheless I LOVED my stay at Lower Dover. While the walk from the highway where the bus left me was a bit long, it was worth it to be so joyfully greeted by both Madeline and their pack...

We traveled to Belize and met up with our daughter for vacation. Our daughter has several food issues which require a special diet. Madeline did a superb job of accommodating her needs through wonderfully, delicious meals. We were so grateful for all of the care Madeline took. I know it was extra work for everyone but my daughter remained healthy...

A highlight of our trip. Madeline and her family were so welcoming and knowledgeable. The land is filled with buried Mayan ruins so you get comfortable lodging, good food, and access to ancient history. Not to mention this place has Badger gear (GO BIG RED) all over the place. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed here for four nights while touring the country and couldn't have been happier. Madeline and her family are extremely knowledgeable and phenomenally helpful! You're not just getting a place to stay, but excellent advice and beautiful grounds as well. The food, swimming hole, cabana, and fellow guests were fantastic -- we will definitely stay here next time we're...

Lower Dover was an amazing place to stay for my friends and I. Nestled in the jungle, right off the Western Highway, the place has a nice hostel-like bedroom, a few roomy cabanas for couples or solo travelers, and a couple for friends or families. We stayed in the latter, and had great sleep and privacy. The grounds and layout...

Lower Dover is a charming place--from the friendly and most helpful host Madeline to the fantastic accommodations. I was staying in hostel dorms during my travels through Central America and the dorms at LD are above par: roomy, comfortable, clean, and colorful. Breakfasts and dinners are well worth signing up for--no where else did I get to eat three courses...

We enjoyed our time at Lower Dover very much! Madeline cared amiable for us and our wishes - she has solutions for everything and for every idea of adventure we wanted to do. However, the property is so big and interesting, you do not eaven have to leave for a tour: Best is the refreshing natural swimming pool right behind...

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Lower Dover. Perfectly situated between Belmopan and San Ignacio - only a two hour commute by bus (4.50 US). We made it just in time for sunset and Madeline's family style dinner. During our three day stay we met numerous other guests who offered lively conversation and valuable travel advice. Madeline paired us with Elias...

Let me start by saying that my husband and I tend toward lazier vacations, but when traveling to Belize we knew there'd be a lot of things we'd want to see and do. Yet we had no idea how much there'd be to see and do right at Lower Dover: ...from exploring the ruins right on-site to sharing delicious (delicious!)...

Decided on Lower Dover Field Station as an alternative to the San Ignacio hotels and was SO HAPPY TO STAY HERE. Call or book online to make a reservation as space is limited, and take the public bus and ask to be dropped off at Mile 59 on the Western Highway (between Belmopan and San Ignacio). It is a small...
