Beautiful place in the mountains. A great example of mid century modern architecture. However the rooms are in desperate need of upgrading. Wonderful restaurant and pleasant staff. Beautiful mountain views. If the place was updated I would definitely give it five stars!

..We definitely do not want cookie cutter rooms , upgrading destroys the theme we are striving to maintain ,every room is unique ,,we do not want 5 stars if it takes away from the ambiance ....thanks for staying with us and we respect your opinion ,,,,,happy trails to you ..

Loved this hotel on top of the mountain! Would go back to the Highlands to just stay here! The room was huge..hbo..starbucks coffee..balcony to relax on! What more could you want? Hot tub and pool looked nice but didn't even use because I was so relaxed with just the surroundings..plenty of spots to sit and relax around the property. I...

I own a house in highlands, so I often send relatives to other hotels when we are busting at the seams. Last weekend, everything in town was booked, so I found the alpine. I had seen the sign before but had never been to the site. On my....what a great find. The staff was awesome, offered us food and beverage...

Thank you very much ...We are "outdated" , you are so correct to notice .. and that is the style/theme we work at//strive for ..( Skyline is not a 5 star cookie-cutter hotel )..,,We are a mountain lodge /retreat from the present day ..a no stress zone ! ..your kind words and observations are appreciated very much

Great property grounds clean rooms. The rooms need some updating but sitting on the covered deck and having breakfast on the patio made up for the outdated room. Nice hot tub area and pool. No air conditioning needed because of the cool mountain air.

...Thank you ......We work to keep our outdated rooms , as you call them ,,we have a theme here that we love ...we are not one of those chain , cookie - cutter hotels .. and you are right ,,often we do not need that new invention ,the air conditioner , ,,the mountain air is so much healthier and fresher...

Decided to go to the highlands on Friday afternoon, had no reservations. Everything was booked, and even if they weren't little hesitant to spend >$300 a night for one of the more famous places. Called and they had rooms. Was worried that there was no ac. But turned out okay. But would definitely bring ear plugs, lots of noise from...

This place is so freaking awesome.we were here the last week they were open for the year. From the person that checked us in to the manager we was treated like royalty. If you are in Highlands, this is a great hotel for those with pets or looking for more reasonable rate. We have been here multiple times and believe it's better than the hotels downtown since it is secluded and very peaceful. The views overlooking the homes are spectacular; however, be careful, those rooms do not have A/C. All in all,...

I have NEVER written a review but this place was really bad. When we got there they did not have the room that we paid for and requested. The only thing they had left was a pet friendly room (I have allergies) and one very old room with no air, musty, and not very clean. The bed was so bad...

We were all wishing we had another day or two to spend in Highlands and at Skyline Lodge. We had a group of three rooms; two were similar and in the section behind the office but the third room was near the office and next to the pool. We really enjoyed looking out over the pool, which was made even...

I booked our room through booking.com. Based on the picture and description the room had A/C and appeared large and nice with a mountain view. When I arrived in the room, it was very small, old and hot with a strong musty smell that overlooked a parking lot and tennis court. A large dog was left alone and frantically barking...

Unbelievable is the word for the Skyline Lodge & Altitudes Restaurant...constructed of Redwood and Granite, begun in 1929 in the Frank Lloyd Wright tradition. Completed in 1965, Skyline offers a magnificent forty mile view and nestled 4,300 feet atop of Flat Mountain overlooking the banks of Big Creek's cascading waterfalls. From the comfortable rooms with balconies and beautiful views to the scrumptious meals at Altitudes , it's definitely a part of Highlands that should be visited and revisited ! ... more   less
