We spent the night here in March for a quiet getaway and it did not disappoint. The Colonial Pines Inn is a nice bed and breakfast with comfortable and clean rooms, and Donna and Chris were very welcoming and accommodating. They were flexible with our check out time, provided nice treats complimentary including a wonderful breakfast, and were all around...

I don't usually stay at Bed and Breakfast type establishments as most of my traveling is 'on-the-go' but seeing as how everything in town was booked up, this was my only option and now I'm spoiled forever! The service and attention to detail here is off the charts! So warm and cozy and super welcoming! Clean and the service was...

Colonial Pines Inn is the best place in Highlands for relaxation. We have tried them all, in town and on mountain tops. Chris and Donna are excellent hosts, giving you space, yet ready to engage in conversation. They know the area extremely well regarding local history, restaurants, and hiking trails. The atmosphere is so quiet and restful. Donna's breakfasts are...

Staying two nights in Highlands at this secluded yet convenient bed and breakfast was a real treat for my husband this weekend. The inn is at most a 25 minute walk from downtown. Donna and Chris were friendly and attentive hosts and were very helpful with suggestions. We were in the nicely decorated, well appointed Harris Room on the second...

Donna and Chris have a great experience waiting for all their guests. Their bed and breakfast is exceptionally located blocks from Main Street but tucked back in a beautiful, wooded and secluded setting. Every room puts you in a relaxed frame of mind fitting for being in the woods of North Carolina. But Donna and Chris' warmth and kindness and...

As soon as we step into the Colonial Pines Inn in Highlands, NC my blood pressure drops 20 points. We feel as if we are visiting some old friends who make us feel at home. The Germans have a phrase called "gemutlichkeit" which perfectly described the comfortableness that we feel here. The warm coziness of the inn invites us to...

Our first time at Colonial Pines Inn in Highlands was wonderful. We stayed in the Bargain Basement king room which was off to the side of the main B&B. To us it was perfect because it had it's own parking spot and privacy as well as comfortable inside even though it's one of the smaller rooms they have. For the...

Overall a wonderful bed & breakfast with one little quirk. Breakfast is served at 9:30. That's pretty late for us and made other meals a challenge. We weren't ready for lunch at noon and ended up eating a late lunch/early dinner at 3-4pm. And then skipped dinner but had a snack, sort of, at 8:00ish. In fairness, they do have...

We just returned from our stay at Colonial Pines. What a beautiful Inn! The location was just far enough from Main St. to be calm and peaceful, yet convenient. Honestly, I have never seen a more pristine facility. It looked freshly painted and immaculate in every way. We loved being in the separate building next to the Inn! We aren't...

This was our third time at Colonial Pines. Accommodations are excellent and the Owner's are very friendly. Breakfast has always been "top-notch" and they are very up-to-date on what's going on in the Highlands area. Inn is convenient to downtown but quiet. Our best-find recommendation! We have been visiting Highlands for over thirty years and this is the best overall...
