The weather here is typically still warm and you should still be able to swim in the ocean. As for directions, there is basically one way. You take Highway 64 south to Hwy 168. You follow 168 towards Nags Head, NC. Once there follow the signs to South HWY 12 and follow that until it basically ends at the end of Hatteras Island. You are looking at about a three hour ride.
