My husband and I love coming to the Franklin for our "weekend getaways". You can walk to restaurants/shopping in Chapel Hill and Carrboro and don't need to get back in your car once you park it. The rooms are spacious and comfy with a nice big balcony as an added bonus. We always go home relaxed and rejuvenated after staying...

Jennifer H, So glad that you both enjoy each visit at The Franklin. It sure is nice to ignore your car for a few days and not even need it. Let the countdown begin until your next "staycation"! Jay

Great hotel, the rooms and bathrooms are super! Can't beat the location, can walk to everything! Rooms are spacious and well appointed and staff is great! My favorite place to stay in Chapel Hill. Love having a view of Franklin Street and looking out at night, love being able to walk out and walk around campus at night...if I liked...

Hello lesley h, Thank you for your enthusiastic comments. Like you, I'm not fond of raisings - BUT don't despair, we also have chocolate chip cookies with almond toffee! I'm sorry that you didn't get any of those. Please remind us on your next visit about your cookie preference and we'll make sure to set some of those aside for...

Switched to this hotel, midday through stay and could not be happier. Was travelling on business to UNC and will definitely stay here again. Rooms are pure comfort, staff is fantastic, and the location can't be beaten. Wifi is lightning fast and doesn't have any of those annoying log-in screens.

Thanks for your positive note, BikeAir! Glad that our hotel provided what you were looking for. I'm so happy that you appreciated our Wi-Fi set up. We have invested in a gigabit wireless network and will be soon upgraded to even more bandwidth (100 Mbps) with a new fiber provider. And we definitely feel your pain when it comes to...

This is a gorgeous hotel. Great staff, comfortable beds and linens. I highly recommend a room with a balcony. We enjoyed all the activities on Franklin Street. Stayed here to take kids on college tours UNC and Duke. Chapel Hill is a beautiful historic town and this hotel is the place to stay.

Thanks for your comments, pvbbeachgirl. Glad you got to enjoy one of our beautiful balconies - hopefully you caught one of the nicer days among all the rainy ones we've had lately. Hope your kid will choose UNC - I'm biased, b/c I am a 2004 graduate - then we'd love for you to make The Franklin your place to...

I recently stayed at The Franklin while in Chapel Hill for graduation. I was quite surprised by the hotel. I though the room was really lovely; I had one on the 4th floor with an overlook of the main street. It was a spacious room and I found it all to be modern and updated; the bathroom was very clean...

Amy B, Thanks for your detailed review. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the room and the view! I'm sorry the parking was inconvenient and confusing. We are working diligently to get the repair work on our parking garage started to get rid of those problems that our guests currently have to deal with. I look forward to...

I had to go to Chapel Hill to pick my son up from camp and stayed at the Franklin Hotel overnight. I am neurotic about hotels and don't like to stay in them if I don't have to. That being said, this was a beautiful hotel, perfectly located in downtown Chapel Hill and the staff was the BEST I have...

Hello KMicari, What a warm review of our staff! I loved reading this, and am glad that it was our staff that was most impressive to you. While we do have a pretty great location and a beautiful hotel, it wouldn't mean much without a group of people who can make our guests feel great while staying with us. So...

Excellent property. Very involved/helpful staff. Intimate and cozy environment. Great breakfast (best grits I had in a long time) Extremely convenient location to center of action on Franklin Street which is the main street in Chapel Hill.

I wish all college-town hotels were this nice. Actually, I would want this hotel room in pretty much any destination I traveled to. Very comfortable beds and linens and a perfect location opposite lots of dining and shopping options on Franklin Street. A more-than-expected fitness center was an added perk.

A great hotel in a perfect location. Rooms are very comfortable and beds are super comfortable . Don't expect views of anything but in the center of chapel hill . Hi Lance L, Thanks for your post. The summertime is a nice break from the busy university session, and you're right about having the town to yourself! Since we have world class restaurants just by our front door (several of them with James Beard awards!), we only offer breakfast and evening bistro menus in our restaurant. Lunch is the only...

Fantastic hotel with a wonderful staff. Balcony rooms on 3rd floor, if available. Clean, friendly, great location. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. GREAT shuttle service to anywhere you need to go- even other hotels for wedding festivities, as was our case.

Hello franb127, We appreciate you sharing your comments. I'm particularly pleased to hear that you found our staff to be wonderful because that's what's most important beyond the basics of having a nice hotel. And in this summer heat, the shuttle is such a useful service that I'm glad you were able to take advantage of. Thank you! Jay
