Detailed Reviews
We were stranded on Hatteras Island with 2 large dogs. We were able to land a pet friendly room in this motel. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The next evening when we could not get off the island again the were able to get a King efficacy which had a nice size mini fridge, large microwave, two stove burners and small kitchen sink, with plenty of cups and dishes and such and full coffee pot. Again was comfortable and clean and perfect for our needs and were we ended up for the next 2 nights until the road opened. They have washer and dryer available (for a fee) on the premises. Also had an pool we didn't use but looked nice. Offered a nice area to walk your dogs with baggies available. They also have grills for their guests. Everything in Buxton is really close Conners (grocery) is a walk across the street. I would definitely recommend this motel.

We are so glad that you guys enjoyed your stay with us, even if it was unplanned. It was an unfortunate circumstance for everyone to be stuck on the island, so we tried our best to accommodate everyone we could. When we see reviews from our guests like this it makes all the work worth it. We hope you are doing well and we can't wait to have you again.

We have been traveling to the outer banks since the early nineties and in the last few years, have been staying in the Hatteras area as we love the ability to drive and park right on the beach.
Cape Pines is a wonderful little mom and pop gem tucked right in the center of Buxton, near a local grocer and restaurants. We've always stayed in the pet friendly courtyard rooms, which are all nicely appointed with various bedding options. All have at a minimum small fridges and coffee makers and come with front and back windows and outdoor clothes lines on each room's front porch.
There are grills available for cooking as well as plenty of picnic tables, spread throughout the property. The pool has beautiful landscaping around it along with plenty of lounging and seating options.
Most importantly, the service is EXCEPTIONAL. We are always warmly greeted when we arrive for our " next stay" and if we are arriving late, the owner calls us to ensure our trip down is going smoothly and advises about how to obtain our keys after hours.
Often times, we book the same room and as always, at a very reasonable cost. If we are fortunate enough, we see familiar visitors that have traveled and stayed there before too. So nice to be able to feel at home.
Whether it's for a "pre-game" stay ahead of your week in the Hatteras area, or for a long weekend, we cannot recommend Cape Pines highly enough!!

I can't rave enough about this place! I have to travel with my little 6 lb Yorkie and I love the retro ambience of this motel. The staff is so welcoming and accommodating. And believe me it is clean, clean, clean! There is a nice pool and dog park located in the back where you can potty and walk your dog which was also very clean, safe and convenient. It's located across the street from a really nice grocery store (Conners) and to all things to see, eat, shop and do. The Hatteras Lighthouse is right down the street. This is my 3rd time staying here (once during COVID,) and I just feel so relaxed and happy when I stay here. We stayed in Room 1 on the first level and we had a cute room with kitchenette with all appliances you need to feel like home, a king size bed, and little living room area and a very nice and clean bathroom. You can tell the owners go the extra mile to make your stay a great one. If you love all things retro and want to experience the old time flavor and added hospitality of Hatteras Island then this is the place for you.

My husband and I stayed in the King Deluxe room for five nights. We were very pleased with the room; everything was spotless. The bed and bedding were very nice; in fact, I asked where they purchased the blanket because I would like to have one for my own bed. The Manager, Dipta, her son Viraj, and Carol, the desk clerk were all very friendly and helpful with anything that we inquired about. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

This is an extraordinary motel. It may appear in pictures to be fairly standard, but it is special. The owners are loving, cheerful people who look for little ways to dote on their guests. And the rooms are clean and classic. There's a grocery store just across the street. There's are two fabulous breakfast joints (the Orange Blossom and Diamond Shoals) a minute or two away by car. And best of all, your fellow hotel guests are really friendly. It's just one of those hotels that feels really special, and when you meet your neighbors, it's like everybody knows how special the place is and shares the good vibes. Oh, and it's dog-friendly, too. Great little area out back to run the dogs in, and there's a nice quiet side street next to the hotel if you want a slightly longer walk. Last thing: The Parking is easy. I go with my trailer every year, and I never have problems.

Our goal is to have every guest enjoy the best time during their stay - what makes us achieve this goal is guests like you. Cape Pines is adored by kind, caring, loving, and loyal guests. You arrived as a guest and departed as a lifelong friend. Having Peluche and Soleil, guests with paws, was an added bonus. We will cherish memories for lifetime, especially Rummykub and star gazing. "making guests happy, makes us happy." Unknown.

Our family stayed for a week at the last minute in July. The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and functional. Location is convenient to the entire lower part of Hatteras Island.
This is not a luxury hotel, but if you are looking for a friendly, reasonably priced, convenient location on HI, then look no further. This is the spot!

Always a great stay at the Cape Pines! It’s not fancy but it’s clean, has cold A/C, comfy beds, and the rooms are spacious. The staff are always ready to meet any needs or requests you have. Perfect location! Walk across the street to Conners for any grocery needs and lots of great restaurants just down the street!

Great place for families with large and small dogs. Clean and comfortable w/no frills. Our room was considered a suite with 2 bedrooms w/wall air conditioners. Small kitchen with a small table is functional. Wi fi was terrific. Pool was an added benefit w/warm temperatures nice chairs and tables. Open 1000 to 9pm. Hotel is managed by a nice family who takes their job and guest feedback seriously. Guests were very friendly. Dog park in the back was a plus for our 2 German shepherds. Only critique was lack of working gas grills which the leadership is aware Of and buying new ones. We ll be back next year.

Decent location, close to market and national park. Pool adequate but closes at 9pm. Rooms are spartan and beds need upgrade for price of rooms. Minimal services available, did not get room serviced in two days. Bathrooms are tight with shower curtain on you when showering. Staff very nice. Rooms are loud if on lower floor.

We were last minute for reservations as we had a family member pass however the staff/owners here were amazing! Our rooms were clean. The hospitality superb. The owners son helped us out with a lost dog as we were afraid “spike” may get hit in the road. Very family oriented motel! Clean pool. Great ice. Convenient to grocery stores and other shopping desires/needs. After coming to the outer banks for 50 plus years, I’ve lost that quaint feeling for a while until this trip! Thank you cape pines!
