This is my first stay at the Acorn. It was clean, neat, the tiled shower was gianormous. Water pressure very good. Will stay here again good value and close to all activities downtown. The room was made up quickly while we were across the street having breakfast.

This hotel was terrible. The place was OLD and run down. The room smelled so bad of something that I think was mold or mildew. My lungs felt like they were burning and I was wheezing a little. The room looked dirty. The "white " towels were old thin and beige. There was a spider in the ancient bathtub. It...

I checked into this hotel when freezing rain drove me from my camping spot in the gorge. The man at the front desk was very kind. I checked into room 105 out of only maybe 10 rooms total. The room and bed were tidy. A dated but clean microwave and fridge were also available in the room. No coffee maker...

My wife and I were headed home after a few days hard backpacking. We were looking for some place inexpensive and close to the highway. The Acorn is just what we were looking for. One room was $66 including tax. It is very close to downtown Black Mountain. The owner was very nice and the room was large. The sheets...

I have traveled extensively for most of my life and this is the worst place I have ever stayed (and that includes pup tents in the military). It can be a real memory builder for you too: Worst smell, worst cleaning, worst mattress, stinky pillows, and on and on.

We made last minute reservations here on a holiday weekend because it was the only place we could find. We only stayed one night. which was one night too many. THE PROS: The location was close to the wonderful little town of Black Mountain, a bit of a walk but I'd still drive. There's a bakery/biscuit place across the street...

I booked a triple room for a one-night stop despite some scary and mixed reviews posted here, and saved a lot of money compared to other nearby hotels in Asheville. The reception was completely fine with no problems; the room itself was large and very clean; the beds were moderately comfortable; the TV had lots of cable channels; and though...

The condition of the room I was given was truly disgusting. With it being late in the evening and everything else booked, I decided to tough it out. The smell of cigarettes combined with musty order was terrible. The room is surrounded with cracks in the molding that is literally filled with a hardened slurry of tissue paper and water....

For the price, it is a great deal. Not fancy. It is a pleasant, clean, owner-operated motel. It is a 2-minute drive to downtown Black Mountain. The refrigerator and microwave were fairly new and worked fine. The wifi in the room was strong. No complaints.
