I agree with an earlier reviewer that the rooms are spartan, but the reading areas in the spacious hallways and the large public areas on the main floor and porch make up for this. This is not a luxury hotel. Clean, friendly, with attractive public spaces. The managers ( owners?) were most helpful and cordial; for example finding a convenient...

My husband and I visited here while our daughter was in camp and we were disappointed on how unfriendly the people were here. We also had a room that the air conditioner would go on and off and it was very loud. This made for a sleepless night. We thought someone would greet us for the continental breakfast but that...

We loved the Monte Vista! My husband and I stayed two nights in Black Mountain for a concert and hiking. Our room was in the 1937 section and was very clean, simply-appointed, quiet, and comfortable. We enjoyed some local beers in the downstairs bar and the continental breakfast was simple but delicious. The Monte Vista is in easy walking distance...

Very close to a 5 star experience all around. The only downside I found is that the room was very spartan. It had no dressers and only one significant piece of furniture outside of the bed which was very comfortable. It does have a large walk in closet with a shelf for storage. Room did have a large screen HDTV...

Excellent, charming facility. Food was great - hospitality even better - will definitely return. Bar had a nice vibe with great outdoor seating. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was substantial. Convenient walk to downtown Black Mountain. Great value for the price!

Arrived 07/16/16 at 5pm. The room was a corner with a king size bed and quite large. I could not log on to their internet and inquired at the desk and told by the owner, Toni, was 'me' not their internet. I went back to my room and pulled the blanket to lay down and found long strands of hair...

Lovely hotel with a warm and inviting lobby and a lovely outdoor space to gather. The owners are a great presence in the hotel and the staff very friendly. The restaurant, Palate, is very good, the rooms are clean and the hallways lined with local art. And, the hotel is wonderfully situated to take advantage of the town of Black...

Found this lovely hotel after being frustrated trying to stay and eat in Asheville. First, Black Mountain is fun with loads of shops. Monte Vista is a charming old hotel with a great caring staff, good bar and even better restaurant. Owners are on site and took time to make sure we got whatever we needed, even down to bring...

Booked this hotel after having sticker shock for Asheville hotels. Only staying one night for summer camp drop off. The hotel is oozing southern charm for half the price of the highway chain hotels in the area. The bar is well stocked. We ate dinner out on the patio- simply gorgeous. Hotel has the feel of staying at a home-...

This hotel is so cute. It is an old school turned hotel. The hard wood floors alone are worth seeing and appreciating . The rooms are nice and clean. The bathrooms are small but adequate with a nice shower and vessel sink. There was a large flat screen TV. The hotel also has a restaurant that I did t get...
