This Inn is really a step back in time. Fresh mountain breezes (there is no air conditioning), antiques, cobwebs, dirty windows, creaky stairs, noisy trains and little gathering space for cards, socializing, etc. Have stayed in older places which were much cleaner. Would have liked coffee or water available in the dining room when we arrived after our long drive.... More

We booked a very nice room via Hotels.com for our 10th anniversary, for two nights over Memorial Day weekend at the Black Mountain Inn. I even called the innkeeper and left a message nearly a week in advance of check-in to mention my name, give my number, and request coordination given our late check-in in the early evening. I heard... More

I see that this inn has some good ratings, and a few bad ones. Just as some people like asparagus and some don't, this place was just not for us. The inn keeper tried as much as she could to make us happy including offering another room with a better mattress, but while we were considering that the train went... More

My wife and I had recently a two-night stay at this little gem (room Emili). We wanted a romantic getaway, with the possibility to also visit places around, and being close to Asheville. It was one of those rare trips that one would never forget. The rooms are very cozy and with an authentic nineteenth century feeling. Area is very... More

Fresh off the beaten path.just what we like.tucked behind bamboo, this inn is everything you want to escape it all. The character and charm of the inn start with all the natural light the windows let in. All the beautiful wood inside would thrill anyone who appreciates a place where you can see the thought out effort in it's furnishings.... More

Nice property even in the winter. Warm wood burning stoves and in era furniture and window dressings and big old fashion tubs and beds. Like stepping back in time. What a wonderful breakfast, in Dec to have fresh bananas with orange on French toast. Lovely energy and what a great Inn Keeper. Always have the tea ready and coffee if... More

First off, let me say the establishment is for sale and it certainly has the feel of an owner who is running it as if they don't want to do the business anymore. The Inn is sparsely decorated, if you wanted to find out about the dwelling or the town, good luck . Any information and the owner is missing.... More

I'm a business traveler who has frequented The Black Mountain Inn for many years. The home has always been a welcome, peaceful retreat of which I hold in heartfelt fondness. I've seen many changes and renovations throughout my visits that have enhanced comfort, safety and delight. My boyfriend & I became members of a gem mining club in Asheville, NC... More

I have recently returned from my adventure living in the world. It was wonderful to find the peace of the Black Mountain in has not changed a bit. It's still a wonderful old inn. Rooms are cosy but very small and quite costly relative to other B&B's in the area. Noise level is very high, not only from the thruway but also from the nearby RR. Sounded like a freight train was coming thru the front yard in the middle of the night. Poor lighting in common areas and rooms. Good breakfast but no... More
