We didn’t stay there, we just went for dinner. I had read that the steak was good elsewhere so I was keen to give it a shot.

Honestly, I paid $45 for a scotch fillet with chips and side salad. The side salad consisted of 2 slices of tomato, 2 slices of cucumber and a slice of red onion, no lettuce or anything. The steak was ordered medium rare and came out grey, very overdone and was actually flavourless.

The other meals were average at best, the chips were off white, and the kids meal was actually served in a takeaway box in the restaurant.

Also, the drinks need to be purchased yourself from the bar around the corner, as nothing can be ordered from the table.

There’s better options in the area.

Very run down and think the bed in our room has been there since the hotel was built. Bar staff was nice but went down hill after that. Limited menu and apparently fryers weren't in use so no chips but still had to pay full price. Then we saw the manager take a bowl of chips to their table in front of a packed paying restaurant. Also the managers don't like the staff burning too much wood but their seat was right next to the fire in the restaurant. Advised the manager that it was quite poor form to eat chips in front of paying customers and she advised they were "checking the quality" but they were no good???? Apparently we were meant to get extra salad because you couldn't get chips or pappadums, yep curry & rice with side salad is quite a nice mix. Pay a bit extra and stay somewhere else, we certainly won't stay again and won't recommend this place to anyone!

You’ll freak out when you collect your keys and drive down along these old motel units.
You’ll freak out again when you open the door to your room and see the orange/green carpet, 70s timber and brown headboards.
But look closer. The place it actually super clean and tidy. Open the curtains and see the lovely trees outside. Smell the fresh air. Relax and enjoy, knowing you Paid next to nothing for it anyway!
The tiles in the shower don’t match, but the shower is clean and hot. Bedding is crisp and clean, the tv works as do the fridge and microwave. There’s even toilet paper which is amazing amid this Corona Virus!
The only downside was no air con. You won’t need it most months down here, but keep it in mind.
So overall, you get what you pay for, and if you can’t handle a bit of old school decor, best go somewhere else.
The pub is friendly and the restaurant serves amazing food at good prices. Definitely be back.

Ordered dinner to be told that the fryer was not working which meant about 75% of the menu was not available. My friend had to order a burger & asked for no tomato. The burger came out with tomato! Just as well she wasn’t allergic to tomato. I ordered garlic prawns with rice. Just as well there were plenty of prawns because the rice was like rubber. We had to go to the bar to order our drinks & we both asked for lemon, lime & bitters. What we got was lots of ice a drop of bitters & lemonade. If I had wanted lemonade I would have asked for one.
Very disappointed. As we are staying here we wanted to do the right thing & support.

The pictures on the website are completely inaccurate. What a waste of money! The place was filthy with so many spiders everywhere. Empty coke cans on top of cupboards, missing tiles in bathroom, carpets falling to pieces and torn up, dust over everything, water stains all over ceiling. A sign in the room says ‘We are aware that some rooms are old and need updating…’ how about you start by actually hiring a cleaner! 2 mins and a duster would take care of yrs of built up spider webs but seems the owners couldn’t care less. Wifi doesn’t work of course, limited TV stations and another sign says you can access your own smart TV accounts….only problem is the TV is as outdated as the room and therefore was invented pre-smart TV.
I honestly don’t know how they are still in business and haven’t been shutdown? We were going to eat at the restaurant as nothing in town was open but knowing how bad the rooms are wasn’t sure we’d survive so gave that a miss. Worst motel I’ve ever stayed at.

The room was basic, no aircon and no screens on the windows. The bathroom required maintenance - missing tiles and drain doesn’t cope. On checkout I advised of the bathroom issue and the response was “I will add it to the list”

Wouldn’t stay again and can’t recommend.

We ordered 2 hamburgers to takeaway... our usual takeaway was closed... we must say that we were greatly impressed with the hamburgers from the Walpole Hotel Motel- fresh, tasty and just what we needed! Thank you Brett, Barbarra and staff.

We were staying in Walpole for a long weekend and went to Walpole tavern for a beer. We decided to have lunch and were very happy we did! Toasty warm garlic bread, a big bowl of chilli mussels and the special soup of the day- chicken and vegetable. All were very big servings and absolutely delicious! The tavern is a comfortable place to relax and watch sport, put some bets on, have an icy cold beer and a good feed :)

We always go to local pubs for dinner but this is the worst we have ever been to. The food was expensive and extremely bad. The $49 steak was full of fat and tasted disgusting. The chicken snitzel was as hard as a rock with a handful of shredded white coloured lettuce on the side. There is zero ambience and surly staff. They hated being there as much as we did. We would have left but met a really lovely couple on the way there who we had dinner with. There was also nowhere else to go in Walpole on a Sunday night other than a take away. We were very disappointed that they couldn’t cook a steak or snitzel!!! They also kicked us out at 8:30 🙃

We enjoyed the ribs at the restaurant. It was busy but the service was great and the staff were happy. We extended our booking from 5 people to 9
at late notice but with a quick rearrange we were all seated. Everyone enjoyed their meal and then we watched the band in the bar, they were so much fun and it was a real community feel.
