As the head of an architecture and interior design group, I spend more than 200 days a year on the road, virtually living in hotels. Good and bad experiences aside, every now and then I come across a property that reminds me why I got...More
Everything was good except for bad wifi coverage in the room, average breakfast and room service forgot to fill the minibar. The staff was friendly especially Stefano the driver for the shuttle service.
My wife and I stayed here for four nights in July 2014. We wish we had stayed much longer! The boutique hotel and its grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and all of staff are happy and very helpful. The view from our room was absolutely...More
It has become a habit in our family to travel to Capri for one week towards the end of July. This year we picked the Orsa Maggiore and are thrilled. The hotel is wonderful and tastefully decorated. The rooms, specially the De Lux rooms with...More

Hello. The "upstairs rooms", which we were in, have a private patio with a beautiful sea view. The road is between the hotel and sea, but you can't see it from these room. And there's not enough traffic to hear any road noise. There's not much traffic anywhere in Anacapri. I wasn't in any of the "downstairs" rooms, which are on the same level as reception as you walk in. I heard from guests that the only noise they heard in the downstairs rooms was noise from people up and about in the morning as those room doors are adjacent to and visible from reception. My guess is that the view from the downstairs rooms is more vegetation than sea, but that's just a guess. In our upstairs room we heard no road noise and no lobby/people noise. We'll stay there again, and we'll almost certainly try to stay in the same room. It's not a big room and bathroom isn't big either. But, compared to most hotel rooms in Italy and Manhattan and such, this was a much larger room. I have absolutely no regrets and wouldn't change thing about our stay at Orsa Maggiore. The room we stayed in was very quiet...
Things to consider: Outside of going to bed and sleeping, how much time will you really spend in your room? This hotel is very quiet, relaxed, and secluded. You'll need use the hotel's driver to take you to Capri, but you can easily walk to Anacapri, as we did every day/night. It's a nice walk.
I hope this helps!
