This was an amazing experience - the giant otters, the really big caymen, the enormous spiders - fortunately not in the room...lovely staff, hammocks, beautiful surroundings, buffet food was plentiful and quite good. The rooms only have screens in the window and the walls don't reach the ceiling...screened, but not solid, so there is not much privacy - take ear...

We did a 5 day/4 night package in the Jungle, 3 nights at Heath River (HR) then1 night at Sandoval. Sandoval was a good part of the trip, however, we felt the accomodation wasn't to as high a standard as HR. The layout meant one midge net structure covered several rooms. Therefore, if anyone left their door open the insects...

This was our first time in the jungle and it was a really good experience! Lake Sandoval is pretty much a guarantee for wildlife and we saw much of it in our 3 days! We saw giant otters twice, red howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, dusky titi monkeys, sloths, macaws, tiger herons, Hoatzins, Caimen, tarantula and many more. You are assigned...

I did a huge run around in Cusco over several days to book my trip to Pto Moldanado - I did research on several lodges and I'm so glad I settled on this one. A wonderful experience. Do not hesitate to stay in this lodge. It is remote, clean, the staff & food are excellent, and the wildlife was very...

My husband and I weren't too sure what to expect with the Amazon and were expecting to rough it wherever we stayed, but we just wanted to have a few days to see what it was like. I don't think we could have picked a better place to stay. Sandoval Lake Lodge is a bit off the beaten track -...

We have been to an Amazon Lodge before, in Ecuador, so were expecting similar. Extremely hot trek of 2 miles to get to the camp via a very muddy track. Can take an hour plus if it has been raining as mud can be deep and slippery. We were told the track was a "boardwalk". It is not! Avoid if...

We did the 4 day /3 night program at Lake Sandoval Lodge. Guides pick you up at the airport and take you to the office where you transfer items needed for the trip into a small duffel bag. All other luggage is left and stored in the office. From here you are transferred to the river for the boat ride...

This lake lodge is perfectly situated on the shore of Lake Sandoval, and is only accessible by boat trip from Puerto Maldonado followed by a 30 minute walk and then a canoe trip. The rooms are small but clean, you have a private bathroom with shower (warm!), the beds are comfortable and have mosqito nets (required when you are in...

Was torn between the Inkaterra property and the sandoval lake lodge, but selected Sandoval lake lodge and did not regret it. It is not luxurious, it is like going to camp, but far more comfortable. But we saw, the sea otters, monkeys( red howlers, night howlers, cappuchin, squirrel). Saw the cayman, during the day and at night. Saw a ton of...

We went to Sandoval Lodge for the 3 day/2 night package at the beginning of the rainy season, so were worried about potential downpours. But everything was close to perfect - not a drop of rain, interesting hikes through the rainforest, scenic boat tours on the lake and a lodge in an enviably idyllic location. Whilst rooms are basic, they...
