This is the first and last time we “stayed.” They’re doing constructions still on the entrance/exit. That entrance/exit is extremely dangerous with that steep incline! Going down that incline I thought my car would come off the road! We had room #10 and upon entrance we scoured the room and came upon these deplorable conditions. Dust along the bed legs and what appears to be a dead moth behind the nightstand. There’s an apparent crack in the bathroom vanity. Then walk outside of the shared balcony to a pigsty massive bug guts! They claim they “spray” the areas but apparently they still don’t CLEAN the outside. The porch doesn’t have a screened in door so bugs are flying in. Who knows if I had slept in their bed a bug could have laid eggs in my hair while I was sleeping for all I know. For a “good?” Place they’re advertising for the people in the world to stay at this place don’t really care. The manager gave me 50% off instead of a complete refund is unacceptable as well. The stay is a part of the experience out here in the finger lakes region. Deplorable. Don’t stay here. Pictures say it all.…
This review is specific to boat rental. Parking is horrible. Have to park on the road and go down several stairs or a steep driveway. Asked to park by the marina due to just having C3-C7 neck fusion several weeks ago and was told no! No handicap parking available. Had to walk around the marina to find the help. The help wasn't happy and when asked questions received very short yes or no answers. The boat didn't have a top. That was my fault I should have noticed it in the rental sign up. If you rent a boat make sure you get one with a top. After informing them no thank you to the reservation they could care less. Wouldn't recommend the location for a boat rental.
This review is specific to the boat rental. Despite reading some negative reviews, we decided to give them a chance as there were no other businesses around Seneca Lake with boats available. We booked the reservation online. We were given the option of booking 4 hours from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. or 6 hours from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. We selected the four-hour option for $230 plus $25 for the tube plus the cost of gas. The ‘sport’ boat definitely had signs of heavy wear and was in a highly-used condition (other than being a Starcraft deckboat, it looks nothing like the boat on their website). We were given the paperwork to sign and instructions which included a limit on distance. The worker showed us to the boat and gave a 5-minute crash course on operating the boat. The PFDs (aka, life jackets) were a joke. They only had one Type III PFD onboard that would fit any of us. All the rest were Type IIs. Not the best option for tubing in the middle of a 600+ feet deep lake. Getting out onto the lake was an adventure, as the boat wouldn’t go more than 10 miles per hour with a wide open throttle; certainly not what I was expecting out of a 115 HP Mercury outboard. We accepted that it was going to be a long afternoon, as we were aware of Anchor Inn & Marina’s ‘zero refund’ policy. About 20 minutes into tubing on the lake (at 10 mph), the boat/motor decided to wake up and got a burst of energy/speed to just over 20 mph. As I continued to work to fine tune the trim of the motor, we were finally able to get into the high 20s. However, coming out of the hole, the boat was very sluggish. There were actually pontoon boats that were going faster than we were. Despite the ‘slow’ start, our family of four had a great time on the lake. IF I were to rent from this company again (and that's a big 'IF"), I’d most likely rent one of their pontoon boats. The pontoon boats looked to be newer and in better condition, and they had a shade top which the ‘sport’ boat did not have, so you’d have some relief from the sun.…
The customer service, professional and personable actions of Sara are Outstanding. Because of her, we will Definitely book here in the future! We read good reviews and the photos were lovely, so we booked & sadly had to cancel, practically last minute. Because the room was re-rented, Sara made sure that we were refunded our money, This was truly a blessing and extremely appreciated 🌻. We have had similar situations in our 60+ years of traveling & have Never experienced the kindness and service as we did with Sara. She’s a gem & we appreciate her! Thank You Sara🌺🌺
This place is a dump. There is construction everywhere, the furniture and the in the room are old, there is a beat up car on the neighbor’s lawn, and trucks and a train go by to the salt plant throughout the day. The view from the porch is obscured by telephone lines, the driveway is mostly potholes and broken up asphalt, and the steps leading to the tiki bar are over a train track and are cement blocks. The owners definitely need to fix up their hotel.
We were looking for a place with a lake view and this had it. The motel is under renovations and construction so it was a little unappealing visually. The rooms are basic and in need off carpet cleaning. The beds were comfortable. There is a refrigerator and microwave just missing a in room coffee maker. There are chairs and a small table on the porch off the room which was very nice. Out biggest issue was when we checked in we asked if the Tiki bar had a full menu before we got settled and we were told yes, to try the cheesesteak. When we got to the Tiki bard they only had the fryer worker which is an issue for us. Also the Tiki bar had warm beer from the tap. Not the experience we were hoping for. The bar is on the water and alot of steps to get to it. We weren't told until after the fact they have a golf cart to take you. We may go back after renovations are complete but not anytime soon. The staff was very friendly.…
Arrived after a 5 hour trip ,wanting a shower and to relax. No water at all for 22 hours.Had to go to Walmart and buy cases of water just to replenish the toilet and wash our hands. We learned from neighbors that had been there for a week that this had been an ongoing problem the entire time. Finally H20 was repaired only to go out a day later for 12 hours. It is freakin ridiculous. Staff was great as I think this water problem is an on going problem, judging from prior reviews. Lovely views of area and lake, but if you want to sleep in your dirt and sweat, filling your toilet (if it flushes.....) then book it and bring gallons of water
Unfortunately while this place has some good points the bad really outweigh them. First the good points....we stayed in a cottage and it was really nice. It was new and clean and the beds were really nice. It had nice appliances and was pretty well stocked. The balcony was large with a nice view of the lake although you also see the hotel below and the road. The AC worked well. Yes the road up was steep but actually not bad. But the parking by the cottages...horrendous. Only one car could fit between the cottages and the other side of #5 where we stayed is totally broken jagged stone. So we had to park right behind the cottage and do like a 15 point turn to get out. It seemed very dangerous. Staying in #5 the neighbors on the next deck warned me and they were right. Everytime someone in any of the cottages use water there is a pump that goes off in #5...what a terrible design. So if anyone uses the bathroom or water in another cottage in the middle of the night or early morning and you're not a heavy sleeper you'll be awakened. I read reviews about the water pressure and thought how bad can it be? The worst of my life. It takes about 10 minutes to get it hot or the right temperature and it's so light. It's so bad that the last morning we opted to leave as early as possible so we could drive home and take a regular shower. But we actually couldn't leave as early as we wanted because we had a dog and you have to wait for them to be in the office to go inspect for damage so you can receive back the $50 cash deposit...yes cash. Now I really appreciate that they are pet friendly, no breed or weight restriction and no pet fee. But the smarter business move would be to just charge a pet fee like most nice hotels do so you're not stuck there until the office opens. Oh and for our cottage they only had one key...the old fashioned kind. They said the one was lost and they hadn't had the chance to make a duplicate. They don't have a good business sense for communication either...the office staff while generally nice gives inconsistent information. They have a disclaimer on their web site that you need to call to find out the cancellation policy...every place else gives it to you with the reservation. You can't get anything firm in print from them even in email...it changes depending on who you talk to. They should be clearer on their site that you can't bring the dog on a boat rental. We went to the tiki bar one night and found it kind of tacky. I like fried cauliflower but it was mainly breading. In fairness, my husband liked the wings. There seemed to be a lot of locals partying but thankfully we couldn't hear it from the cottage. The hotel did not look appealing...the large shared deck is where people sat with coolers. It's a shame that such nice cottages...except the loud nonstop pump in #5...are so ruined by the rest. They would do way better with better management. We won't stay there again. …
Keep in mind you're on a hillside but well worth it for the room with a view. Stayed here 3 nights the 1st week in August and was very pleased. Room was nice, clean and comfortable having everything needed from a microwave to a small fridge. All staff were friendly and helpful. We will be back to enjoy this place again sometime.
I stayed at the hotel for two nights on a recent visit to Watkin Glen State Park. We had a great time. The room was clean and comfortable with needed amenities such as a microwave and fridge. In addition, the beds were a comfy memory foam. Maid service was offered daily which is a plus due to COVID. Don't be hesitant to visit the tiki bar. Its great fun with a gorgeous view
