We went to Watkins to celebrate my sister's birthday and decided to get a hotel room because we knew we would be having food and drinks. We rented a room at the Budget Inn in Watkins Glen. Originally, I reserved a room with 2 double beds, because we knew we would be having drinks with family/friends and someone else might need somewhere to stay as well. When we checked in, the receptionist/owner gave us a king room. This was no big deal at the time, because I knew they were busy and had limited space. Long story short, we checked in, dropped our stuff off and went to hang with friends. When we returned to our room that night, my bf, his sister, and I were in the room not even for five minutes when there was a knock at our door. I answered and it was the owner saying guests were complaining that we were being too loud and we were going to have to leave; he also said that there were too many people in the room. I said we had just gotten to our room and weren't aware we were being disruptive. I also reminded him we had originally rented a room with two beds, and was given a different room upon arrival. The owner said, "If you don't leave I'll call the cops." I said, " Okay, call the cops. We aren't doing anything wrong." Law Enforcement did show up and we were eventually asked to leave. The officers/deputies that showed up were professional and patient, as we were obviously upset for being asked to leave in such an abrupt manner. I was eventually refunded my money, but that does not make up for the absolutely awful customer service we received. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. This is NOT the way to run a business.…
This is a basic old-fashioned motel just like we used to stay in when I was a kid on family vacations. The proprietors are very busy all day long keeping the rooms and grounds clean. Upon arrival, our room was very musty but we ran across the street, purchased some Febreeze and squirted it in the air conditioner. Stinky smell was gone. Fixtures in room were dated, but in good repair. Room had a small fridge and microwave. Husband said coffee in the office was good, but we did not try the continental breakfast. King size bed was ok. Not the best, not the worst. Woke up with a back ache after the 2nd night, but not sure if that was from the bed or all the steps at the Gorge.
Was here 4 years ago and returned because of previous good experience. The place is still the same (a good thing), run by a friendly manager. Motel is basic but clean, excellent place for an overnight. Within walking distance (10-20 minutes) from the main drag's restaurants. We skipped the basic breakfast and opted for a nearby diner.
Wanted a lower priced room for 2 nights while on a winery trip. Price was $110 per night. Room was clean but very old and dark Lady at the front desk was pleasant but you need to ring an outside bell for someone to let you in the office. On main road so trucks going by at night kept us up. No outlets next to bed and no clock. Housekeeping came by before 10 am and my husband was in the shower. Said she would have someone bring us clean towels later which didn’t happen. No extra toilet paper so we went to the office for both. There is free internet. Didn’t go to breakfast as Dunkin Donuts was nearby so my husband went there for our coffee. There is an ice cream place next door which was great to sit out front with a cone in the evening. Location is close to town. You get what you pay for so if you are looking for a no frills place to stay then this is your place. If you are expecting newer and brighter then consider somewhere else.…
Stayed here while visiting the race track which is about 10 minutes away. The location is also very close to the downtown area of Watkins Glen. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
Convenient to wineries. HUGE king size bed. Clean room. Clean bathroom. Convenient to food places. Good price when compared to other places this time of year. No maximum number of nights to stay. Great working fan for white noise.
I had a wonderful time in Watkins Glen, staying at this hotel for 4 nights. The room was clean, very comfortable and had an air conditioner that worked very well! Fast, free WiFi, plasma screen with all the cable channels, and great water pressure in the shower - unlike most hotels I've stayed at. Our room also included a refrigerator and microwave, and I could park my vehicle right in front of the door. The location of this hotel couldn't be better. Minutes from Watkins Glen (the waterfalls and trails), and state parks and hiking trails. Directly across the street is a great family restaurant, CVS drugstore, food store and liquor store. But most of all, I enjoyed the Glen Diary Bar - lots of ice cream flavors right next door! It was tradition to sit on our porch, yes, porch, eating ice cream every night. I recommend this place if you would like a great location, amenities and great staff - all for a reasonable price.…
Another week, another motorcycle trip. We stayed here as most places were booked, and the price was right. The room was spacious and clean, good AC, and the place is in a good location. For an MC traveler, you know that this means walking distance to food, booze, etc. There is even a great ice cream stand next door! Very friendly and accommodating innkeeper. A three night stay is a good test of a place. The room was serviced well each day. Coffee and basic continental in the morning. Now, mind you, you will not be getting fluffy towels and fancy soaps. What you will get is totally adequate. Stay here and save some money.
Normally stay at the Seneca Lodge when in Watkins Glen but it was not open so we scoured around looking for an alternative. All about the same price, all about the same setup so we settled on the on nearest to the gas station. It was clean, neat and ok if not a little pricey. A couple of things that could have made it nicer 1. It is right next to the main road and heavy trucks go up and down all night 2. Owner had the room temp set LOW so even though we where of course able to crank up the heat, everything in the room was cold. The bed, walls, furniture, floor, etc 3. The TV was not really setup for ease of viewing and had too many channels that did not work, no instructions, no channel line up and semi-flat batteries that made it a challenge to use 4. There was essentially no useable desk, so trying to do any sort of work was not really possible 5. Probably the biggest cripe was absolutely nowhere to plug in chargers for cell phones, etc. We ended up having to pull out the fridge and the bed to find anything. Overall not bad, but could have been a lot better with a couple of little adds/tweeks.…
Did not have high expectations after reading some of the reviews but we were very pleasantly surprised with our stay. King sized bed with fridge and microwave. We actually walked to the trails at Watkins Glen. Conveniently located. Nicely maintained on the outside as well. Breakfast was what we expected - nothing special but enough to get us on the road.
