With several bad reviews I read I was a little apprehensive about staying at this motel. Well we are glad we did. It’s a great what I call a Ma and Pa motel. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfortable with nice sheets. The bathroom had brand new large fluffy towels which were great. It’s an old fashioned charming place. Heated pool and a nice sitting area outside. It was convenient to all that Watkins Glen had to offer without being in a congested area. I would stay here again
Loved this place! Old fashioned, nostalgic, wonderful! Clean, roomy accomadation- convenient to many attractions. Just loved it there! Loved the gazebo, the staff, the whole vibe. The cleaning team, the ladies at the desk, everyone was friendly abd welcoming
We highly recommend the Longhouse. It's very old-fashioned, with not-new furnishings, but clean. We got a bit spooked when reading reviews (after booking) about guests partying loudly and smoking on the rocking chair filled long verandah that runs in front of all the rooms. But no such problems on the night we were there. Families & kids socialized in the evening; everyone quietly off to bed by 10 pm. Our room was very large, including a big wheelchair- accessible bathroom, and a small fridge, microwave, dining table and plushly upholstered reading chairs. Not sure if all rooms have these amenities, so ask in advance, if wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, including with thoughtful recommendations for restaurants in town.
The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and well maintained. The bed was first class. Owner very friendly and helpful. I’d give it 5 stars except that the WiFi was weak and unreliable. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place in beautiful Watkins Glen.
While the desk clerk, Karen, is a true sweetheart and did everything she could possibly do to help us, we encountered mouse infestation. My wife emailed the owner and we gave the guy a chance to contact us and do the right thing, before we posted a poor review. But, instead of handling it in a business-like manner, the guy never contacted us and instead, called my wife a liar. I can assure you that my wife's accounting of the mouse problem is accurate and factual and we have multiple witnesses to support my wife's report. So, if you stay there, I hope you are comfortable with mice in your room.
Mouse traps behind desk, mouse droppings on coffee maker and desk and in my suitcase, dog hair on bed. Found mouse in my suitcase on 3rd day there, and chewed items in my suitcase. Karen at the desk was extremely helpful and kind BUT we were told the person in charge was out of town when we were there. They received a full report from on duty staff who were very willing to help but the manager/owner never responded. I will now be contacting the health department. Should not be paying $145 to share a room with filfth and mice!!! DO NOT GO THERE!
We were grateful to find this place when rain washed out our camping trip. You will find the place reflects the small town feel of the southern tier of New York state. Great porch views of Seneca Lake. I very much appreciate the vintage style of this place. It feels like it is one thing in the region that has not changed since my childhood trips here. Room was spacious and clean.
Two day trip to Watkins Glen. While my daughter visited friends, I hung out at the motel. One negative thing about this place is it's real easy to drive past it. I drove past it two or three times, missed my turn and had to turn around. It's easy to miss despite the fact it sits on the main drag. I didn't go exploring while I was in Watkins Glen. State parks, hiking, nature are not my thing, so while my kid visited friends and went out, I hung out at the motel. I will say that anywhere I did go and anyone I interacted with was super happy to see us and pleasant, talkative, interested and in a genuine way. That level of kindness and easy going attitude wasn't forced or fake. Karen and Jim at the motel were great and always interested in conversation and whether or not your stay was going well. Wifi was spotty, but manageable. Excellent view of the mountain and water. There's a pristine pool and a gazebo. Grounds are clean, well landscaped and pretty. There's grills if you'd like to cook and sitting areas. The only thing I didn't like was the lights outside the window were bright while trying to fall asleep. There's bird nests on the lights and these cool black birds with orange chests, active even after dark. The place had a beachy vibe even though it's tucked into a state park. Strange thing, too, the noise from the 2nd floor was annoying periodically till I realized there was no 2nd floor. Sounded like kids jumping and general noise above and there is no above. Beds are comfortable. AC worked. I had 2 days of peace and quiet and no one bothered me. It's right on the main drag and super close to the hub of the touristy stuff and the state park entrance. Rocking chairs in front of the room for you to sit and take in the view. Pet friendly. The place was like a kennel. Made me miss my dog. Smoker friendly-outside of course. I was just happy to be there and have a much needed stress free couple days off from real life. Looking forward to hopefully revisiting in the fall.…
I was prepared to leave a great review as it is clean, staff is friendly, pool is decent, but then nighttime comes and it goes to hell. We unfortunately booked a room not realizing it was NASCAR weekend and once our neighbors returned from a day of drinking everything went to hell. We were up until 2am listening to fighting, things being slammed, loud thuds ect and there is absolutely no one around after 10:30pm, no emergency line to call if you are having a problem, nothing! This wasn't the only issue during our stay but luckily the other argument was in the parking lot when staff was there. I am not entirely sure how a motel can have no one around in case of an emergency 24/7, especially when a big event is in town. What happens if your toilet overflows, god forbid a fire or anything needing attention, you just fend for yourself?…
This is a quaint, little Motel in Watkins Glen! It's named right, the Longhouse Motel, because you actually feel like you're in a room in your home. The people there are very friendly, nice breakfast items prepackaged and ready to go, good coffee, a pool, a gazebo, easy access to BBQ grills, and a great view! Some of the best night's sleep I've ever had! I highly recommend it! The owner is very friendly and accommodating!
