For us this was clearly the best choice of lodging when visiting Watkins Glen. It is less than 5 minutes to walk from it to the Gorge which means you can get there early enough to beat crowds and avoid paying for parking. It is also in walking distance from plenty of restaurants and bars. We stayed in the cottage room which is in a separate building from the main room. It has a bathroom and we went over to the main building to shower. We were supplied towels to use. Our room was cheerful and clean with plenty of space. There are two showers in the main building and neither my boyfriend nor I ever had to wait to use one. There is also a cute kitchen with eggs and some pantry supplies. Emily was very nice and made recommendations on places to eat and responded immediately when I texted her a question. I rated this as very good in general as a place to stay but for a hostel it would be considered excellent. The price was very good as well.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Local! Located a short distance from Watkins Glen ( falls) , restaurants , lots of vegan options too!, Lake Senca and The Farm Sanctuary- it was the perfect place to sleep and hang out! Emily and Ian were so kind and spent lots of time helping us find the sights we most wanted to visit. They have a great location and I recommend staying at the Local if you are traveling to Watkins Glen.

We were there overnight to hike the Gorge Trail/Waterfalls trail. This hostel is steps to the main entrance of the park. and locate near central of the town. The hostel has different no. of bunk bed configuration for different rooms. We were a group of 4 and Emily was nice enough to put us together and have the room all to ourself. The bathroom facility is new and clean. The bunk beds were comfortable. There is also an air conditioner in the room to keep us all cool. But no AC in the kitchen. The owner has 2 dogs there with them, don't worry....very friendly dogs! The reception gave us information for where is the supermarket and the best place to eat etc. There is also a Burger King adjacent to the hostel, it opens really early, so we had breakfast there ( $0.89/3 pancakes). I would come back and stay in this place. Thank you Emily for all your help!
