I stayed at many lodges on my recent trip to Uganda but Katara Lodge by far exceeds all and deserves a review (which I don't normally do!). The serenity, the amazing views, the awesome room and most of all the happy and helpful staff. I was there in low season and literally had the entire lodge to myself for the...

This lodge is in an excellent location to visit the northern sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. The lodge overlooks the the Maramagambo Forest. It is a bumpy drive to the Kazinga Channel from the lodge, but driving on this road is an experience in itself !This is a first class lodging. The individual cabins are beautiful, with a sitting...

We loved Katara Lodge and particularly sleeping under the stars with a rollout canopy bed! The views were fabulous and at night we could see fires in QENP. Service was exceptional and the food was great. We also enjoyed the pool. Great location; great hotel!

Katara Lodge sits on the escarpment overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park. The views from the thatch-roofed cottages and the main open-air restaurant/bar area are endless. We watched elephants wandering across the plains while enjoying delicious food!

My adult children and I shared a cottage. It was beautifully unique, clean, and homey, though nothing like home regarding the views! The cottage has lots of screens, so you feel one with the elephants trumpeting down below in the QENP and the birds chirping. It was better than a game drive as I used binoculars on the porch and...

First of all, driving on the "paved" road from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Katara Lodge is difficult. The worse stretch of road is about 16 km long. The road is full of potholes and trying to avoid them is impossible. Riding on the gravel shoulder is the only way to travel the road but watch out for elephants right...

Katara Lodge is one of several lodges dotted along an escarpment looking out over the savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park. From Port Fortal in the north it is a bit of an ordeal getting there through the national park as the main road has almost completely disappeared into a mass of pot holes with most vehicles using the edges...

The best part is this is hidden in the backroads of a village but close to Queen Elizabeth. I can saw the best part are the huge beautifully decorated rooms, especially the bathroom with stone floor and a separate claw foot tub. I loved the roll out bed with the mosquito net where you can sleep under the stars and...

Very rarely do I rate a hotel 5 stars but this place deserves it. Not only are the views magnificent but the rooms and service are excellent as well. Hopefully the photos I have attached do the place justice. A must stay!

Katara is a beautiful lodge with the most amazing views overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are only a few rooms and each has the stunning view and you can not see any other room from your own. There are two beds in the room, one is on wheels so it can be taken out onto your private terrace so...
