Ok. Not bad. Just as the previous reviews have stated many times before. It has an old feel and look to it. Colonial like. Except maybe the bathroom. Would I stay again? yes. 1- location, location, location to shops, tours, easy to find, and only 20m in traffic to the airport. 2- breakfast spread with many options including made to order omelettes is great value. 3- great views of pool and/or the Indian Ocean. 4- cost is reasonable. I paid $151 including taxes for 2 nights in January 2023.
This hotel stay was very interesting . It’s very hot in Stone town and the AC wasn’t working. We asked them to look at it and the maintenance man said it was fine . Yet, it never got cool in my room. The safes were broken and not working . The bedsheets given to us were dirty . We asked for new ones and the new ones given to us were also dirty . We wanted to like this hotel, but it was very hard to digest . If you’re coming from America this would be a 2 star hotel at best .
Nice old town hotel designed to its old town feel. Full experience of Stone Town. The hotel has a good view of the ocean and the service is great! Great location for business or pleasure and good access for exploring the city. Only downside is the noise of the old ACs.
What a amazing little gem of a hotel ..Cannot believe you can see more history of stone town just in this hotel and its furnishings ...wonderful refreshing pool after hustle and bustle of people outside breakfast very good ...just beautiful....very sorry to leave this beautiful place
Located near the port and on the edge of the stone town. Easy to get around on foot. The hotel is right next to a mosque and you will hear a loud azaan every morning (call to pray). The room was OK, but the view was bad. They provided two bottles of drinking water every day. The breakfast was OK. The swimming pool is small but OK. There was no safe in the room. I was disappointed with rude staff and would not recommend this hotel.
The mizingani is a nice hotel in a convenient location overlooking the ocean in stone town. The building is kind of quirky with multiple Escher like staircases and carved wooden doors. Our room was large with a lovely terrace overlooking the pool, a fridge and a TV with the world Cup! The restaurant was good and breakfast was included with lots of vegetarian choices.
A lovely boutique hotel only a stone's throw from everything in Stonetown. Delicious breakfast that can be enjoyed while overlooking the sea. Cozy rooms with mosquito nets and beautifully tiled bathtubs. I enjoyed their antique elevator and felt safe in it. Reception and other staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms are very clean with basic toiletries and even a blow-dryer. All in all I had a great stay there and will not stay anywhere else if I return to Stonetown
I never went on a solo trip before, so this was a big deal for me. From the minute I arrived, I was taken in as family. I felt so loved, and protected and happy at this hotel. My heart is there even though I am back home. I spent 5 weeks in Zanzibar and most of it was at Mizingani Seafront Hotel. It is beautiful and really affordable. The breakfasts are beyond amazing too. I can't wait to go back again. I miss my favorite room, I miss everyone working there with all my heart. This place is my heart in Zanzibar.
Stay wise good . location excellent . Staff excellent , they try to assist as much as they can. Nice view from balcony . Morning breakfast very good but food not for Indian vegetarians . Good place to stay in stone town . Looks like an heritage building with all type of lift . Except vegetarian food , everything is okay
Perfectly situated on the sea front road, our room with a lovely beach view. The ferry port from Dar-es-Salaam is only 400m away so walkable. Finished in period style the hotel is like a living museum. Stunning period furniture everywhere, very comfortable nice ambience with helpful efficient staff. We did have the Presidential suite, Salame, there are several in this category, hence the beach view.. Ours was very large, seats at the two open windows and another separate seating area with period four poster bed. All the bedroom furniture was in keeping with the age of the building, beautiful antique pieces. Equipped with fridge, tv, good a/c and WiFi, tea and coffee facilities. Immaculately clean. Breakfast was the best buffet choice we've had in Tanzania, admittedly others were remote safari lodges though. Choice of cereals, yogurt, eggs to order, hot beans, sausage, potatoes etc, an array of fruits and an extensive cakes and biscuits selection.…
