The Zanzibar Coffee House Hotel offers a touch of magic and romance in an authentic Arabic house deep in the heart of Stone Town. Transformed into a stylish hotel with harmonious interiors, antiques and rich fabrics, it is one of the oldest buildings in Zanzibar constructed by the Wazir to Sultan Said Bargash in 1885.

It's hard to fully explain how meaningful our stay at Coffee House was. You will of course find a beautiful hotel, lovely and elegant rooms, a fantastic rooftop with delightful views of the city, and a fun coffee shop on the bottom floor. But staying here is not just a typical hotel experience - everyone from the hotel owner (the generous and kind Noreen) to the cooking staff (Leah, Romana) to the room staff (Pina) looked out for us and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We loved walking up to the rooftop every morning to greet the warm cooking staff, who would happily bring us fresh fruit and snacks as well as delicious cappuccinos (the coffee house name delivers). Before the start of each day, Noreen would take the time whenever we needed to help us map out our activities, facilitate excellent drivers, and ensure we had no issues with our tours. The fact that our Zanzibar trip was as beautiful and speed-bump free as it was is absolutely due to how much Noreen handled our stay there. We were so sad to go, and absolutely have vacation blues now. But I will tell everyone to come stay here whenever they visit Zanzibar, and hope to visit again.

Was Greeted & Welcomed by Manager Heerna .Don't have enough words of praise for the Superb Customer Service afforded. Advised staff on my floor ( Philipina & Nadra) to ensure all was attended & taken care of for a comfortable & memorable stay. When next return to Zanzibar will definitely stay longer. Thankyou for an awesome & memorable stay. Al Karim

Our Bourbon Suite was a very roomy, well appointed suite. We liked that it was located in a historic open "riad" style building in the heart of Stone Town. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. So enjoyed breakfast in the rooftop terrace with outstanding cappuccino. Unfortunately, the wi-fi was very poor with no connection for majority of our stay. As the lobby doubles as a coffee shop, the check-in process can be a little hectic. We were happy with our stay at Zanzibar Coffee House as it provided an exceptional value for a beautiful room in an historic building. Just don't expect the pampering service provided by more expensive offerings like Emerson. We also purchased a day room in the Caturra Suite for the following day before a late flight and this worked out perfectly for a reasonable rate.

So beautiful, the staff, rooms, roof terrace, food, location and of course great coffee. I would have no hesitation in recommending this superb boutique hotel. So close to all the places in Stone Town. Note no cars allowed so have to walk last 400 meters

The coffee house is a renovated colonial building with an amazing rooftop terrace where you take breakfast. It feels so nice you would like to stay there all day. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is unique and gives you a feel of quietness right in the middle of hectic Stone town. Location is also perfect, I couldn't imagine a better place to stay to experience the special atmosphere of Stonetown. PS try the bathrobes in the rooms! They are super and I bought one I use at home every day now :-)

A great hotel themed with coffee, excellent coffee, service and location. Nice roof top to have breakfast or to chill out in the evening. We had a private bathroom which was outside of our room but it was not an issue for us. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place with breathtaking breakfast on the rooftop. Rooms were clean and well-maintained. Staff was friendly, kind and helpful. We loved Noreen, the hotel manager—she was incredibly kind, big-hearted and made us feel at home and cared for. Truly a gem. We would definitely stay here again.
