Located in the center of stone town mein host Frans has great staff and great hotel. A home away from home. The building is an old Arab merchant's house and the rooms are well appointed. Furnished in Arab style the decor has the 1001 nights fantasy. Very accommodating the staff are friendly and coffee in bed a luxury that was...

This hotel was the perfect romantic getaway for my BF and me. We stayed in the room with the rooftop open-air bathroom. The almost 360-degree view of the city and ocean were breathtaking. The hotel arranged tours for us during our stay, and everything was well taken care of. The breakfasts were delicious. I still dream of the coffee.

Imagine Africa booked this hotel for us for our Honeymoon and I must say, it was exactly what we needed. The location is great, only a short walk to the coast, and the staff were superb (especially Susan). All questions and requests were solved quickly and with no hassle. We had the Dunia suite booked and it was amazing -...

Hotel was great, rooms had air con and was roomy and luxurious. Not able to fault the hotel. Arriving in Zanzibar and travelling to the hotel so late at night wasn't nice, felt vulnerable and uneasy. Won't be visiting again.

My friend and I spent 3 nights here this past June. We arrived fresh from the peace and solitude of the Serengeti to the hustle and bustle of late afternoon Stone Town. In spite of being well-traveled we experience a certain amount of culture shock and weren't sure we were going to enjoy being here. The steps to our suite...

Excellent and fascinating design hotel in the health of the old city. You really get the feeling of an old mansion. Very nice staff. Good service and food. The owner takes an personal interest in your well-being.

The hotel is as described - boutique. It isn't the most modern but they've done a very good job with the building and rooms. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Given the state of Stone Town (not the most developed tourist destination) we found this hotel just perfect.

We were only here one night and it was pleasant enough. Staff were very friendly and helpful but it just wasn't "our style" of hotel. The rooms were clean, though a bit eclectic. The restaurant food was nice but the service very slow (however we've noticed this in other parts of East Africa). Importantly for those who have mobility issues,...

Spent two nights at this charming hotel. Friendly and service minded staff, beautifully decorated rooms (big plus for the silk robes in the bathroom, gave that little extra touch) and a very relaxing environment. We had a great time, nothing to complain about! A tip for future guests is to make sure you find the way back to the hotel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a luxurious nine room boutique hotel located right in the heart of Stone Town (an Unesco World Heritage site). It is independently owned and daily under Dutch management and an ideal home to explore and experience all the beauties of this magical town and Island. Zanzibar's rich history is integrated throughout the hotel by Arabian, Indian and English designs, this in combination with all modern comfort (airco, free WiFi, flatscreen TV's, etc). Each room/suite has its own unique decor with many local originating antique pieces of furniture, magical beds, colourful silks, etc. Room rates for every purse definitely makes this a place to stay. As you walk through the front door, you notice the soft aqua blue interior colours along with the antique furniture. You are immediately put into a state of calm and relaxation. ... more   less
