This was a perfect way to spend our first night on Zanzibar. The service was impeccable, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and I felt as if I had been transported back in time to an enchanted world of the noble Sultans.

The hotel has its charm, but it does not feel like a palace. It is clean, the staff polite and smiling, reasonably comfortable, but a bit underwhelming. It is located in the old town house, renovated a little bit cheaply – not bad really, but not the standard of for instance Emerson Spice either. We stayed in Dunia Suite on...

My daughter and I enjoyed 2-nights at Zanzibar Palace. This boutique hotel was originally a luxurious Arabic home. The hotel retains that old world charm with gorgeous wood staircases, comfortable antique furniture and beautiful decor throughout. Our room, Shaba, had a lovely sitting room, 2-comfortable beds and a huge bathroom complete with Turkish tile tub. Air conditioning was a must...

This is my third trip to Stone Town and I think I have now found the PERFECT place to stay. The price is reasonable, but the service is luxury. Frans' staff provide the attention to detail and responsiveness I expect in a top quality hotel in Asia, not the "nice try but not quite" one often gets in Africa. The...

When you first drive up to the hotel, you think this cant be right, as it is situated down some of the very narrow streets, and appears to be in the middle of nowhere, although only a few minutes walk from the seafront. Once that big wooden door has been opened, you get a lovely welcome from the staff and...

A very friendly and welcoming hotel. The management and staff went out of their way to meet our needs. The room was very clean and spacious, the beds were turned down and mosquito nets in place every evening. The breakfast offered was most adequate and the in house bar was much appreciated after a hot day exploring the town. This...

The more we travel, the more I'm beginning to realize just how much we enjoy small boutique hotels. Amazing prompt service, friendly staff and great location. I would only caution you to be mindful of the steps.. they are steep and many. So, if you have bad knees or cannot walk up and down a bunch of steps, I would...

Stayed at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel for 2 nights to see Stonetown before heading to a coastal resort. This is a very nice little boutique hotel run by the very helpful Frans and his team. The hotel is situated in an older building and, by virtue of that, it has an old world simplicity to it. Indeed, it has stairs...

We had a very good time during the whole trip, 10 days safari in different parks, 3 days on the ocean and just one day in Stonentown. We enjoyed every part of the trip. In particular the Zanzibar Palace Hotel granted us a wonderful accomodation, very particular rooms. we appreciated very much our stay in this hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Zanzibar Palace Hotel is a luxurious nine room boutique hotel located right in the heart of Stone Town (an Unesco World Heritage site). It is independently owned and daily under Dutch management and an ideal home to explore and experience all the beauties of this magical town and Island. Zanzibar's rich history is integrated throughout the hotel by Arabian, Indian and English designs, this in combination with all modern comfort (airco, free WiFi, flatscreen TV's, etc). Each room/suite has its own unique decor with many local originating antique pieces of furniture, magical beds, colourful silks, etc. Room rates for every purse definitely makes this a place to stay. As you walk through the front door, you notice the soft aqua blue interior colours along with the antique furniture. You are immediately put into a state of calm and relaxation. ... more   less
