This is a nice hotel, not far from the airport, and main activities like Stone Town, night market etc. The pool is okay not really big and there is no kids pool. The staff is really nice and welcoming with big smiles on their face :) they're very helpful when you need help or advices, honestly speaking their hospitality was...

We stayed at the protea Mbweni ruins for one night and the overall experience was quite positive. The staff was very friendly - we were welcomed by fresh and cooled coconut juice and they helped us with our luggage to the room. The garden of the hotel is very beautiful and you can find benches in the shade to sit...

Small hotel 15 mins ($15) from Stonetown, 10 mins from airport. Good rooms, friendly & helpful staff. Being in the south west it's a ways away from the dive sites off the north & east of the island. Pros: Staff, rooms, price. Good breakfast. Service generally fast and always friendly. Cons: Beach small and sea not reachable at low tide,...

Dear Fatboylimey Good day, thank you for staying with us recently. I appreciate you taking time to share both the positives and negatives in your review. We recently moved our reception to the ruins, hence the travel desk is not yet up and ready, but we are working on having this facility available soon. I am sorry to hear that...

Our visit was just for a jumping off point for going to Chumbe Island, and we were very happy with what we found at Mwembi Ruins Protea Hotel itself. The historical feel, truly is like living among ruins, yet in the lap of luxury. We like hotels with character, and this had the perfect blend of character and beauty. Great...

This stay EXCEEDED my expectations! Property: right on the Indian Ocean. Walk out your room and short path leads to the beach. Meals and drinks can be delivered to you while you lounge. Amazing sunset views you can't find anywhere else in Zanzibar. They even have a deck that extends out into the ocean for viewing. Surrounded by ancient ruins....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff were outstanding in every regard. We enjoyed the view from our room and the calmness and tranquility of the beach and restaurant. The rooms are "tired". Its time for renovation. The food was quite good, but as has been mentioned in other reviews it takes about an hour to receive your order....

The hotel is tiny, totally 14 or 15 rooms with a small and shallow pool. The road into the hotel is very bumpy. The staffs are friendly, but the price of the hotel is over prised. We had a family room on 4th floor with 2 bedrooms, the second bedroom is very small, basically just room for a single bed...

I visited Mbweni Ruins Hotel because that is the launch place for visiting Chumbe Island, the marine conservency island. It is situated on a lovely beach (just ten minutes from Stonetown) with expansive grounds and swimming pool , lovely vistas, a beautiful outdoor restaurant where I had a great low priced latte. There are atmospheric ruins of the old school for...

Courteous Staff , amazing product and Marriott brand! If you are going to Zanzibar, you cannot afford to miss Protea hotel. Its a bit far from Stone town but totally worth it. It is perfect if you are looking for a quiet place to stay with family or friends.
