Ideal holiday getaway within Zanzibar's Stone Town. Easily accessible, close to amenities. Lovely beach front ideal for evening and morning walks, nice swimming pool with a great view of the ocean. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Hotel staff and management very friendly, courteous and helpful. Family friendly and ideal for young and old alike. They organized a surprise birthday cake and gig for my dad who was celebrating his 75th birthday and totally left him and mum overjoyed. Would love to visit again!
A beautiful old hotel in a charming part of Stone Town. We had 2 rooms- both on the ground floor- one overlooking the sea. The rooms were charming and spacious. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good. A couple of downsides are the showers- water is warm, not hot and the bathroom fixtures are outdated. In addition, we arrived close to 3pm but still had to wait for our rooms.
Beautiful hotel on the seafront in Stone Town. Stunning pool, large, comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast with a view. Of the sea. Wonderful luxury stay in easy walking distance to Stone Town museums, markets and cafes. The only slight gripe would be the lack of snacks at the pool, as paying a fortune for two sambusa seems wrong. And no water dispenser to reduce plastic footprint.
exotic beachfront location in world heritage site town. Part of hotel converted from the Chinese doctor's house but with an Islamic flavour. Fretwork wood. Great restaurant with good coffee, excellent tikka masala curry. Listen to the waves from your veranda. Watch the dhows and motorised launches go by. Lovely pool but did not use it. Very close to main attractions of Stone Town including the old fort, the House of Wonders and the spice market.
Very beautiful old style building with a beautiful view of the Indian Ocean. The staff was extremely friendly and warm. I fell in the hotel and hurt myself and the staff kept apologising as if it was there fault. We got a sea facing room on the top floor. The balcony was super but the room small. Dropped a star because the bathrooms are not upto the mark and the whole place seems a bit tired.
The room i stayed had beautiful view of the ocean and the hotel have beautiful breakfast buffet. It is very close to Forodhani garden that is lively during the evening. It is also within Stone town which is heritage city
Beautiful colonial style hotel with nice old features. It has a nice swimming pool, terrace and restaurant/ bar overlooking the sea. Nice to have breakfast or to look at the sunset. We had a suite, which was enormous with a separateextra toilet and livingroom. And it could be connected to other rooms to make it into a family room. We had sea view. The room had an great bathroom. All the staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, turn down service and spraying against mosquitoes. The location is perfect. At sea/ beach, in the best part off/ middle off the old town. The food and drinks are good and fair prices. Great hotel to stay.
This hotel is in two historic buildings joined together. The entire hotel has antique furniture everywhere-beautifully preserved and presented! It has a lovely pool and overlooks the ocean. The food was outstanding and the staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly.
Only a short stroll to town yet away enough from the buzzing noises you will enjoy a beautiful setting next to the ocean. The historic buildings of Serena Hotel contribute to a feeling of an exciting bygone era . The staff is so friendly and kind , a real pleasure , every bit of the hotel a sparkling and clean experience. The hotel manager Mr Uledi sorted out a problem we had with the taxi fare in an efficient and hospitality oriented way which left us with a very positive feeling about Serena . We were astounded how small a premium room for over 500 Dollar/ night was and solved the problem with storing our suitcases on the big balcony/ terrace . We had a lovely time at Serena . Thank you to all staff taking good care of guests.
It was superb experience, great location with excellent services, totally enjoyable stay, starting from day one til we checked out everything was top, in the heart of the old city and everything within walking distance, loved the ocean view.
